Okay, now I just have to ask...what series have you read that - in your opinion - requires one to exert mental energy to follow the storyline? Just couldn't take it any more. It might have improved greatly and tied all the individual plot threads together into a brilliant, logical ending. I will never find out. Well,if Rep's boy Rob Liefeld did the art,Rep might have a different opinion. Check it out Jez and let us know |

Has anyone read Wood's Northlanders? i read the first two trades - loved it. really interesting art and stories are top notch. very educational too. |

Zot! I've heard great reviews for Zot! I know McCloud's a solid writer for his books to his Superman Adventures but never got around to reading. Thoughts?

My favorite series from Eclipse. All the hype is well-deserved.It's fun and great visual designs.I have not read these since they came out but they remain a highlight to me of the early days of independant comics. 9 of 10 stars

Saga is good, DESPITE the hipster critical acclaim and the gratitutious swearing, not BECAUSE of it. Yeah. I was a cab driver for years, and the language bothered me a bit. That takes some doing. I heard a lot about Saga doing stuff for shock value, particularly in the language department, and it turned me off trying the series because shock value stuff usually is only necessary if you don't have a good story. Shock for the sake of shock only has value if there isn't anything bigger going on. After having read the series now, though, it actually does have a pretty good story going on, good enough for me to look past some of the "envelope pushing" nonsense they do in some scenes. In other words, there is some substance to Saga, unlike, say, anything Mark Millar has ever written. It's pretty good, worth a read anyway. I'm still skeptical of those claiming Saga is the greatest thing since sliced bread, though, for the same reason I am skeptical of people who claim Preacher is the best series ever. But it does transcend its own self-imposed limitations. |

Multiple series in one - It bounces back and forth from comedic adventure series to slice of life teenage drama, but they're all really good series! There's a really strong sense of movement-as-design, if that makes any sense kind of like a more 3-D Carmine Infantino - which is about how cool and fun it would actually be to fly. One of the best rogues gallery's in comics, too. Matt Feazel's stick figure back ups are the icing on the cake. |

No, I'm completely wrong. the first ten issues are color. The collection of black and white stuff is issues 11-36, minus a couple issues McCloud didn't draw. But they were great!
