Is Secret Wars II worth reading? The main series is terrible, but some of the tie-ins were good. X-Men as people have mentioned, but New Mutants, an issue or two of Peter Parker featuring the Puma, and one of the Incredible Hulk issues where he still was trapped in the Crossroads are worth reading. In fact, I'd say the New Mutants issues are the best tie-ins overall. (There's a decent issue where Daredevil gets his sight back, too, but it suffers from a cop-out ending.)

Is Secret Wars II worth reading? It's worse than Secret Wars. Which wasn't worth reading. Have to disagree, SB. I enjoyed the first Secret Wars. It had nice snappy dialogue and it started off the -all heroes in a mini -bandwagon. For good or bad.

Actually Marvel's Contest of Champions mini predated SW by a few years and started that bandwagon, in fact when people talked about Secret Wars at the time A lot of folks were asking didn't Marvel just do something like this a few years ago... -M

What's Catwoman Vol.3 like after Cooke leaves? Great until Cam Stewart leaves, then it kinda crashes and burns. In fact, I'd rate the Brad Rader and Cam Stewart issues as better than Cooke's. Sadly, after Stewart leaves, Paul Gulacy comes on, and while that's usually a good thing, it's a completely different aesthetic than what the book had presented before. Plus, some elements from the Halle Berry Catwoman movie get thrust upon Brubaker, who handles them admirably but you can tell his heart's not really in it anymore.
I definitely recommend the series to the end of Stewart's issues. I'm not as keen on the Gulacy issues, but there's certainly worse comics out there.
Sounds like I shall be tracking them down then

I'm a huge Brubaker fan, and for the life of me I don't know how I missed Catwoman when it was coming out. There was a lot of great stuff coming out around this time so I suppose it just got lost but still, I'm surprised at myself.

Haven't been on this thread in a while, but I'll say that Bru's run on Catwoman was epic. In fact, it's the definitive Catwoman in my mind, along with great artwork by Darwyn Cooke Brad Rader Cameron Stewart Javier Pulido Paul Gulacy

I'm pretty sure they got introduced in a Green Lantern storyline at some point before the series starts. Yeah: they debuted in Wolfmans GL run, appeared in Wolfmans Action Comics run, then spun off after their appearance in Wolfmans Teen Titans.

One of the series I am wanting to go back to the shop for in the $1 for the Memorial Day buy one get one free sale is Comico's Jonny Quest. I know the basic premise of Quest, though I have not watched the cartoon, and it seems worth what I'd be paying for it. Anyone have any thoughts on it?

Comico's Jonny Quest is one of the most visually compelling series of the time-period. Absolutely top drawer artists working on it. And the stories are very solid as well.

If you're a fan of Venture Bros. you'll also get an extra kick out of it, as Jonny Quest is the primary inspiration.

I have a handful of Jonny Quest comics, I'd love to finish that run some day.

Looking at getting into the Flash, was considering starting with Johns' run #164-225 or so. Best place to start or is there a better starting point than his work?
