hmmm.. OK, because if you consider the talent onboard (12 issues worth of Dave Johnson & John Wagner, inks by Andrew Robinson, John Dell and Karl Story, lettering by Bill Oakley, editing Peter J. Tomasi and some extra penciling from , Gary Erskine), that could very well be a hidden gem. Wagner hasn't written much outside of 2000AD, so this is one of those rare long format work of his.

Apocalypse Nerd. I like Peter bagge and have a lot from him, but I'm not a completist ( shameless lying?...), so how does it rate compared to his main works? Apocalypse Nerd is up at the top of my favorite Bagge stories, right there with Buddy Bradley. If you like Bagge, it's not to be missed.

What about Bagge's Reset, anyone read that? That one was alright. Not bad. Not my favorite Bagge strip but it's still good. I don't regret buying it when it was coming out in floppies.

Are any of the Marvel Knight series (in particular the Spidey one) worth the pick up?

Are any of the Marvel Knight series (in particular the Spidey one) worth the pick up? The Inhumans book is really good. I liked a lot of the initial offerings-the Inhumans book Slam, mentioned by Jenkins and Lee was quite good (and one of the few things by Jenkins I liked without reservation). I enjoyed the Daredevil relaunch, Priest's Black Panther was amazing, the Dr. Strange mini was good, the Punisher one not so much, but it had Wrightson art so worth looking at if not reading (and I generally like Chris Golden and Tom Sniegkowski's prose work but the story wasn't a good fit with the Punisher). Later MK stuff not so much. The Ghost Rider efforts I read were close to terrible (especially the Devin Grayson mini) and I didn't enjoy any of the others I sampled. I have the Chuck Dixon Marvel Knights series (i.e. the team book called Marvel Knights) somewhere in my to read pile but never read it, didn't like the MK Spidey or FF efforts, and the last attempt to revive the brand in '13 or '14 with X-Men, Hulk, Spidey minis looked bad in previews so I never even glanced at them when they hit the stands. -M

I read Point Blank and Sleeper by Ed Brubaker earlier this year and am a bit intrigued by some of the Wildstorm stuff (I had only read Ellis' Stormwatch/Authority and Planetary before), so what all is worth checking out in that vein of storytelling from Wildstorm? I occasionally hear good things about certain runs of WildC.A.T.S. (Casey's stuff in particular) but have no interest in the early Jim Lee stuff, so is there some worth checking out? Other Wildstorm titles (i.e. the shared Wildstom sandbox stuff I guess-I've read stuff put out by Wildstom that doesn't feature their sandbox and liked them).

Are any of the Marvel Knight series (in particular the Spidey one) worth the pick up? I liked Spider-man in a big dumb explosion-y way. (Doctor Octopus FINALLY fought the Green Goblin, which I'd wanted to see for years.) But I'm not sure I can actually recommend it in good conscience.

Just ridiculously good fun.

Stormwatch: Team Achilles was also very good, but the first few issues with Whilce Portacio on art were a bit rough. Wintermen wasn't set in the Wildstorm U, but it is one of the best comics they published.

If you had to choose, would you pick Hellblazer or Sandman as an overall better series?

If you had to choose, would you pick Hellblazer or Sandman as an overall better series? This thread has taught me how much stuff there is I don't like. Kind of distressing... But, yeah, I've read most of Hellblazer and not much of it connected with me. I like the character, I liked the spin-offs with Lady Constantine and John Constantine's friend who is a cab driver. I liked Jason Aaron's two issue run. But I was kind of "eh" about the other 200 issues or so that I read. And I love, love, love Sandman.

And I think that there are runs in it that are completely brilliant. Ennis' run is outstanding. And a number of others are much better than most of the books coming out at the time. But Sandman is the best.
