I am going to find this out either way, having just purchased all but 2 issues from the original series but...how is the original Ms. Marvel series? I love a lot of the covers (they are just 70's cool) but wondering how the stories hold up.

Has anyone read the Gold Key UFO Flying Saucers comic and is worth checking out? I've got a couple, including a thick reprint book. Short tales "based on actual events" in that "In Search of..."/FATE Digest style. Typical Gold Key artwork (i.e., competent, but not often outstanding), but the matter-of-fact treatment probably made them spookier to kids. Dell had a similar Flying Saucers series running about the same time (a lot of Frank Springer art IIRC).

Hello there. Here are some series I've been wondering about purchasing lately but would appreciate some feedback before acting on those urges : DC's Chain Gang War 12 issue maxi series? It's written by John Wagner, hence my interest (also some early Dave Johnson and Andrew Robinson artwork, another treat, or?). Apocalypse Nerd. I like Peter bagge and have a lot from him, but I'm not a completist ( shameless lying?...), so how does it rate compared to his main works? Big Blown Baby, mid 90ies Bill Wray comedy mini at Dark Horse. Quite like Bill Wray and the Ren and Stimpy camp, but is this good? Fort: Prophet of the Unexplained, an early black and white Fraser Irving mini at Dark Horse. How is the story? Silent War (Marvel), Fraser Irving artwork, but how's the story? Iron Man: Enter the Mandarin, Eric Canete artwork, but how is the story? New Avengers: Luke Cage , exact same reason as above. Jamie Delano's Narcopolis, Avatar. I love Jamie Delano, but he hasn't been that productive in the past 15 years. How is this? Rawbone , exact same reason as above. The Territory, exact same reason as above. Strange Embrace, old David Hine mini and supposedly great and original horror, is it? Sandman Mystery Theatre: Sleep of Reason , anything there? Yeah!, Bagge and Beto do a "girls" series. Any good? Thanks in advance (especially need info on Chain Gang War, Sandman Mistery Theatre, Iron Man, Luke Cage, Silent War as I might go for the others anyways )

Bagge is probably my favorite funny artist - not what he draws but just looking at his stuff cracks me up, and he had a lot of cool stuff to draw here. Probably my favorite non HATE thing he's done. RawboneGross and violent and I had trouble following the plot. I bought all of them because I buy everything with pirates in it, though.

Yeah!, Bagge and Beto do a "girls" series. Any good? Thanks in advance (especially need info on Chain Gang War, Sandman Mistery Theatre, Iron Man, Luke Cage, Silent War as I might go for the others anyways ) I read Yeah! back when it was ongoing and remember enjoying it at the time, though I haven't gone back to it since. I wouldn't say it's up there with either Peter Bagge's or Gilberto Hernandez's best work, but certainly worth a look. Fun and light-hearted, the way I remember it. Apocalypse Nerd I haven't read, so I'll just echo your request on that one. I'm pretty sure I'll try it eventually anyway, unless I hear such awful things that I'm scared away. What about Bagge's Reset, anyone read that?

I feel like I've read 'Enter the Mandarin' but I don't really remember it... I vaguely remember a pretty retro style cover, but that's about it.

Thanks in advance (especially need info on Chain Gang War, Sandman Mistery Theatre, Iron Man, Luke Cage, Silent War as I might go for the others anyways ) I haven't read Apocalypse Nerd, Fort, or Big Blown Baby, and I've only read three issues of Chain Gang War, so I'll skip them. Strange Embrace is the best comic on your list. It's one of the finest horror comics ever produced, in my opinion, and it's also one of the finest psychologically based horror stories I've read. This is the must. None of the Delano books are among his finest stuff-- in fact, I think Narcopolis, despite its excellent premise, may be his worst work (next to Cruel and Unusual-- but I'd recommed The Territory if only for the David Lloyd art. Rawbone is kinda good, but too gratuititously graphic for my tastes, even for a pirate story. Sandman Mystery Theatre: Sleep of Reason is garbage. The apple fell far from the SMT tree. I can't remember being so completely disappointed in a comic as SMT: Sleep of Reason when it first came out. Silent War is the best of the more superhero stuff. Probably reads better if you read Son of M first. Unfortunately, Silent War was the middle chapter of a proposed three volume series by Hine, and Marvel dropped the third book before it was published. Yeah! is okay. I expected better from the talent involved, but kinda fun in its own way.

Thanks guys! Nothing on Chain Gang War? I think I bought the first 2-3 issues as I was buying a TON of stuff at the time. I have absolutely no memory of it and didn't continue beyond those first few issues. Take that how you may.

Thanks guys! Nothing on Chain Gang War? For the little that this is worth, I just read a bit about it and it was cancelled due to low sales. But at least it sounds like they rushed in a wrap up of the storyline.
