Interiors by Mort Meskin and Marvin Stein. Is that Stan Lee begging behind the cop?

"own", as in original art? Please share. I should have worded that better. I meant Thor comics are the bulk of the comics themselves that I own that have Kirby art in them. After discovering Starlin's Adam Warlock the owner of the LCS I went to at that time in the 90's turned me on to Him, which was Kirby in FF and Thor. I didn't really care for him on FF, but on Thor he was really impressive and dynamic. So I bought more issues of Thor that Kirby had done. My favorite Kirby cover of all time comes from Thor. But wasn't applicable for this contest since he did the interior art as well. NOT A ENTERY Thanks for explaining. Yeah that cover is pretty strong. I liked both FF and Thor, but his Thor covers were better.

It's interesting that there are more covers from Kirby's 70s return to Marvel than his Silver Age period. Perhaps some felt his Silver Age work would have been too predictable / easy a selection, so they picked the 70s Marvel work (which is not always the "go-to" for Kirby career references) for sake of variety.

My source says this Kirby cover was inked by Vince Colletta. It reprints the Hulk story and the Namor story from Tales to Astonish #99, both of which were penciled by Maris Severin and inked by John Tartaglione.

Your source is wrong. This is simplistic, heavy line, graphic-style inking such as were done over Kirby by Giacoia, Ayers, Stone, Royer, inc. Colletta's inks are so much more nuanced.

GCD and the Marvel Database both say Colletta, though I'm sure each has been mistaken before. I suppose Hoosier X could be too, but I'm betting he was using the GCD. What does your source say exactly, franklin? I found no indication that Royer didn't work at Marvel until 1976. And say what you will about Colletta's inks, but "nuanced" doesn't spring to mind as the word to describe them. Unless by "nuanced" you mean a complete lack for regard for detail.

I can't describe exactly why, but the faces in the upper right corner and at bottom centre look like Coletta to me, while some other things don't. But if I had to guess just from looking, I'd say Coletta did at least some work on this. Could be a matter of his style changing and simplifying with the years, or perhaps the work of assistants, if he employed any.
I do think that Coletta used a more feathery line than most of Kirby's other inkers - I assume that's what franklin means by nuanced. Of course he also erased entire sections of background, but what he did ink did have a distinctive look.

I was a little dubious about Colletta's involvement myself. If it was Colletta then somebody else very likely worked on Hulk's face.
I won't be using that source again without double-checking! After I saw the name of Dan Adkins, I suddenly remembered the way the splash page looked … I don't think I would have guessed Adkins, but the image in my mind is certainly not Marie Severin!

Rather than re-hash the Colletta debate, let's all take one more look at this earlier entry posted cover. When we grant the artist the courtesy of a critique based on his best work rather than his lesser efforts, I think most of us will agree he produced some very high quality inking. This cover is stunning; Colletta's inks really nailed the "crumbling" texture of the backgrounds, did some fine effects on the smoke, gave some masterfully lush contouring to Thor's muscles, and achieved very effective contrast and depth:
