DC Comics Presents seems affordable except for #26 which has the 16 pg preview of New Teen Titans.
#47 is also a killer but that's due to it being first comic appearance of He-Man and Masters of the Universe.

It's now a $40+ book in high grade and even mid-grade can run you $20-$30. -M

I'm loathe to pay for Punisher appearance issues in Spider-Man and Captain America. I had them at one time but not going to shell out to get any of them again, so there's a gap after Amazing Spider-Man #200 for his and Dazzler's appearances, and I only got #200 in an auction where I won at less than half the usual going rate.

Here's something I thought of- Many years ago when I was married to my first wife, she was a Sergio Aragones Groo the Wanderer fan. I went and bought up almost all of the issues in one particular comic shop. The shop owner was literally shaking his head in disbelief. Any way, I have all of the 120 issue Epic run except these three (96, 102, 118). A quick look on eBay has # 118 the cheapest for 11.95, #102 for 4.95 and I can't even find # 96.
Has anyone tried to put together runs that didn’t have expensive issues killing the collection ? Is Rom or Marvel Two in one hard to collect ?
Sure, I have plenty of runs of good titles with absolutely no run killers-- most of them are independent books though. Eclipse Comics' Aztec Ace, Airboy, Crossfire, Scout, and the first DNAgents series, First Comics' E-man and Jon Sable series, Pacific Comics' Silver Star, both Mr. Monster runs by Eclipse and Dark Horse, and Genesis West's Last of the Viking Heroes all come to mind as very solid, entertaining titles which may be a little harder to find due to lower print runs and distribution, but very easy on the pocketbook throughout their respective runs, and all quite enjoyable.
With DC and Marvel, it's a little more difficult because each publisher uses more cross-book universe continuity in the bulk of their titles. This results in more "first appearance" run killers where a character or villain may be introduced in one series, then doesn't appear again until years later in a "hot" title. That sends the rubes scrambling for that "first appearance" book which causes the prices to often spike unreasonably. However, there are some out there if you search. I still say that the 1st and 2nd Hercules Marvel mini-series by Bob Layton are way underrated, and still very cheap.

I actually have Destroyer duck # 1, Starslayer # 5 and the Eclipse issues reprinted in the collected edition by Epic. I don't believe I have the special, but I'm not with my first wife anymore.

Let me suggest another run that might be had without a run killer- the Wally West Flash series starting in 1987. The only books that I saw from that 247 issue run that might be a problem are # 92 ( first Bart Allen ) and # 197 ( I really don't know why it's pricey because it has the reverse Flash? ). But Even the first issue could probably be had for under 10 dollars.
Edit: apparently # 197 is the origin of Dr. Zoom and going for 75 dollars and up !

I got #1 of that series back in 2016 at a show in Columbus where I met up with our own esteemed @mrp. Paid $2 for it. I don't own #92 or #197. I actually only have #193 and 195 in the 192-200 range, but there is a TPB out that collects those issues that I bought from Amazon a couple of years ago, so I could read everything except #92, which I didn't really care all that much about.

Eclipse Comics' DNAgents series, That first DNAgents run now has a run killer in it as #24 can go for a couple hundred in high grade if it's graded (CGC etc.) or anywhere form $60-$100 in high grade raw because of the Dave Stevens cover. Ihaven't seen a sniff of a copy in the wild in over 4 years of searching, and online prices are wild on it. -M

By that stretch, I suppose that Crossfire #12 (Dave Stevens Marilyn Monroe cover) is also a run killer. But the Crossfire & Rainbow mini-series #4 also has a Stevens cover, and I see a NM copy of it on CCL for $1.50
I'm glad that I pretty much completed my Dave Stevens oddball cover collection many many years ago when everything was cheap.

Someone mentioned a while back that the Avengers issue with Taskmaster's first appearance is another of those over-priced back-issues: I don't know who wrote that story but they should have titled it "Taskmaster's Greatest Heist!", a meta-joke-title with possibly the longest delayed punchline ever.

Damn, I had a big chunk of the Johns Flash run including that Zoom issue. Comicbase prices it at $47.
The first appearance of the new Trickster and the origin of Captain Cold are also a little higher than the surrounding issues, although not that high.

It's useless to ask why but Zoom isn't a new character, why would this issue be so pricey ?

Zoom was a new character. He was not Professor Zoom. Thanks, didn't know that. And he featured prominently on the TV show, which is usually a good way to over-inflate a book's value.
