Reading the Untold Story of Marvel Comics book recently, the thing that surprised me about Liefeld was a) what a nice guy he appears to be, b) how unbelievably popular he was with comic buyers back in the '90s, and c) how much money he made. On the latter point, he was one of a few Marvel artists that were living like rock stars in the early '90s, before the bubble burst. I think his artwork is atrociously bad, but man, a LOT of comic book fans must've loved him at one point. Like some rock stars with atrociously bad music that made a lot of money? US is the 80's you know I'm talking about you. :-) i smell Kajagoogoo here, lol |

Travis Charest drew some very nice pages but I heard that he was super slow. And I noticed that his backgrounds were sparse towards the end. okay, that's fair, but compared to Byrne, Cockrum was slow too.  i loved Cockrum more, always. not his fault he couldn't do x-men 'monthly' |

Never liked his art, though he always seemed to roll well with the ridicule. I can’t imagine Byrne doing this.
