Mad #71 Just no way I can pass up Mad
Incredible Hulk #1 That first issue shows promise (it won't be realized, unfortunately).
Showcase #38. I inadvertently passed on their first appearance, but early Metal Men was one of the few DC books of this era that was entertaining.
Uncle Scrooge #38. Love Scrooge.
Eleven cents left over to apply toward SF digests or paperbacks.
I'm still amazed at how trippy the covers of Jughead were at this time.

Keep in mind, I'm not going to be eight until May.
Amazing Adult Fantasy #13... Wicked creepy cover.
Strange Tales #97... Another cool cover... and dying planets always make for cool stories.
Incredible Hulk #1... Well, maybe. Let's check out the DCs first.
Our Fighting Forces #68... Looks like the guy's caught on barbed wire! Whoa, yeah!
Tomahawk #80... Buckskins, fire, Mohawks, bows and arrows? I'm there!
Sea Devils #5... No dinosaurs this month, so I'll try this spooky underwater monster-guy.
Three cents for bubblegum.

Splurging this month playing big spender!
Spacemen #4 Warren. 35 cents Spaceman #2 Dell 15 cents. Love that cover and it would have mesmerized child me so I would HAVE TO GET IT!
Thank goodness for CHEAPO Charlton still at 12 cents, allowing me to grab a war and western comic. Or I could go ALL space. Or do I go with a war and space or western and space? Which way would I go? Guess it would depend on my flipping through the below 4 at the spinner rack for deciding which 2 look more fun?!? Fightin' Airforce #32 Charlton 12 cents Six Gun Heroes #68 12 cents Space Adventures #45 12 cents Space War #16 12 cents

I realized that I've been looking at these covers not from my 1962 eyes, since I was only 3, but from when I was 6, which is when I first remember going to Liggett drugs and looking at the newsstand there. Anyway: Archie's Madhouse #19 Batman #147 Detective Comics #303 Justice League of America #11 Konga #6 Pep #155 ...and three Atomic Fireballs. Looking today, obviously Kookie #2, and I'm curious about this one:

Detective Comics #303 features “Murder in Skyland,” an awesome story about yet another Gotham City amusement park. I’m glad to see somebody pIcked it.
Skyland differs from other Gotham amusement parks by actually floating in the sky! As it’s never mentioned again, it must have either failed as a business venture or crashed because it is a dumb idea. I assume that whatever is left of Skyland was taken to Gotham’s Abandoned Amusement Park District, waiting for one of the Batman rogues to use it as a hide-out or as a death trap for Batman in some scheme where they’ve kidnapped the rest of the Batman auxiliary characters and they are being used as bait.

I'm guessing that a floating amusement park would be so expensive to maintain (not to mention the insurance cost!) that you'd probably have to charge $1,000 per ticket to make a profit. Somebody probably didn't think that business venture through. Awesome idea, though.

There is so much fun stuff on the racks that limiting myself to 75 cents is incredibly frustrating! This month, I'm making the incredibly tough decision not to buy any Batman or Superman comics because none of those covers look at all enticing, and even though I really like the Wonder Woman "family", Wonder Tot's exploits on this month's cover aren't doing it for me either, so...
Amazing Fantasy #13 -- Each month, I am enticed by great sci fi and horror covers, but ultimately pass in favor of familiar characters, but I really like this cover, and I like the slogan, "The Magazine That Respects Your Intelligence!". Intelligent horror? I'm interested.
Incredible Hulk #1 -- I've neither bought a single Marvel book yet nor would likely know what Marvel is by this point, but this looks like a darn good horror story: Jekyll and Hyde only a little more grounded in science, and with a creature that looks a lot more exciting. I would definitely pick this up!
Pep #155 -- Life with Archie is definitely the best of the Archie books most months, but I am a sucker for Archie covers that appear to mix genres. Whether this is actually some kind of Panther Lady or a woman in a costume, I'm intrigued.
Strange Tales #97 -- Love me some post-apocalyptica.
Tales of Suspense #30 -- That is an AWESOME cover. How do you tell a horror story about a rollercoaster? I'm intrigued and ready to be disappointed!
Uncle Scrooge #38 -- You get less characters than in Walt Disney Comics Presents, and that fifteen cent cover price is absurd, but these are clearly the BEST Disney ducks stories (no way I'd know the name Carl Barks in the days before the internet), so I'm in.

Do people that weren't even alive in March 1962 get to play? If so ....
Amazing Adult Fantasy #13 (.12) Confidential Diary #12 (.12) Incredible Hulk #1 (.12) Nurse Betsy Crane #16 (.12) Strange Tales #97 (.12) Tales to Astonish #23 (.12)
I certainty don't think these comics would be what hypothetical young me would have bought.
