A tough choice this month! Much as I'd be tempted by the Batman, Lois Lane, and Superman Annuals, there's no way I'd pass up the debuts of three new Marvel super-heroes (and the first from Gold Key) so:
Amazing Fantasy #15 ($.12) Doctor Solar #1 ($.12) Fantastic Four #6 ($.12) Journey into Mystery #83 ($.12) Justice League of America #13 ($.12) Rocky and His Feindish Freinds #1 ($.25) Tales to Astonish #35 ($.12)
with three cents left over.
Cei-U! That $.24 I paid for Amazing Fantasy and Tales to Astonish sue beats the $85 I paid for them back in '79!

Pretty big month for DC too!
They published the first Lois Lane annual, which reprints the story where Lois goes to Africa, gets amnesia and becomes the Queen of the Leopards!! It’s one of the greatest comic book stories of all time!
Also ... Batman Annual #3, the first all-villain issue!
Detective Comics #306, in which Professor Arnold Hugo attacks Batman with invisible robots!
And with my remaining dimes and nickels ...
Amazing Adult Fantasy #15
Fantastic Four #6
Little Dot #2

Amazing Fantasy 15
Fantastic Four 6
Rocky and His Fiendish Friends #1
And honestly, that's probably it. So 51 cents toward prose reading material of some sort.

However Lois Lane #11, which features the story in question, is available on Comixology for $1.99! I got it a while back and it’s everything you expect from a Silver Age Lois Lane story and then some!

Four giants take care of me this month:
Archie's Madhouse Annual #1 Batman Annual #3 Rocky and His Fiendish Friends #1 Superman Annual #5
Lots of fun reading!
The AF #15 question is where people really have to be honest with themselves: at the time, not knowing what I know now, would I have picked this up?

The AF #15 question is where people really have to be honest with themselves: at the time, not knowing what I know now, would I have picked this up? I'm basing my choice on what I would like to read now, if I could hop in a time machine. I wasn't born in 1962, so I wouldn't have picked up anything on the newsstand at this time.

I think there’s a decent chance I’d have picked up Amazing Fantasy # 15. Spider-Man was the first non-Batman book I ever bought. That was at age 8.

So much good stuff this month, especially with all the DC annuals and all the Marvel debuts.
I'm continuing to approach this as if I'm a kid at the time with no future knowledge of these titles, so...
Adventures of the Fly #21: (12 cents) This one has barely missed coming home with me for months now. I like the cover art, and I really like that it's a guy/girl team. Honestly, in 2022, I still have zero knowledge of this title, but it definitely would have caught my eye then.
Amazing Fantasy #15: (12 cents) Seems like a dumb character concept, but I dig that cover art and that costume.
Atom #2 (12 cents) Awesome cover that really makes me want to read the story. For the first time, a hero that shrinks legitimately looks like an interesting premise!
Challengers of the Unknown #27 (12 cents) Another comic I've been narrowly skipping each time. I'm probably confusing it with Fantastic Four at this point, as both titles seem pretty similar from the covers, but this one looks a little more imaginative.
Just Married #26 (12 cents) The romance titles have some really great covers in this era. This one just seems to promise A LOT of interesting stories for the price of one book.
Justice League of America #13 (12 cents) That looks like a battle I'd have fun reading!
Superman Annual #5 (25 cents) Each of the DC annuals looks like a really big deal that I don't want to skip, but I'm a real sucker for Superman's Kryptonian backstory, so this one wins out.
3 cents left for tax or Bazooka bubble gum, I guess.

What do we have, a dollar? Okay, here goes: Bonanza #2 (Dell) What can I say? I liked this show a lot when it aired in reruns. My grandmother even named her bed-n-breakfast "Bonanza." 12 cents Lois Lane Annual #1: I love Silver Age Lois and I love those DC Annuals, so this is a must-have for me at any age. 25 cents Rocky and His Fiendish Friends: I loved those Rocky cartoons so I'd definitely buy this. Another 25 center. Wendy Witch World: I loved those Harvey giant comics. I'd definitely snatch this up. What, 25 cents again?? Untouchables #2: Loved this show in reruns. You can't beat Robert Stack delivering immortal lines such as "Let's go men!"" and "You're surrounded!" 12 cents. Total: 99 cents. Great, enough left over for a piece of penny candy

And the Marvel Age begins to take shape! Three new superheroes, but still a lot of anthology short stories.
Amazing Fantasy #15 - Kirby/Ditko cover, 4 Ditko stories, including the debut of Spider-Man
Fantastic Four #6 - all Kirby/Ayers
Journey into Mystery #83 - Kirby/Sinnott cover & story introducing Thor, and stories by Heck & Ditko
Strange Tales #100 - Kirby/Ditko cover, two stories by Kirby/Ayers, one each by Heck & Ditko
Tales of Suspense #33 - Kirby/Ayers cover, two stories by Kirby/Ayers, one each by Heck & Ditko
Tales to Astonish #35 - Kirby/Ayers cover & story introducing Ant-Man, and stories by Heck & Ditko
That leaves 28 cents, so I'll continue with a couple of DC series that I've been buying:
Atom #2 - cover & 2 stories by Kane/Anderson
Brave & Bold #43 - cover & story by Kubert

Three new superheroes, but still a lot of anthology short stories. .....Fantastic Four #6 - all Kirby/Ayers FF #6 is absolutely a great pick up, and it also has a few panels inked by Sinnott (on page 2). He's related that he couldn't continue to work on this issue because he got a massive job from his regular client Treasure Chest, and that took priority over his working on FF #6.

Action Comics #291 (12 cents) Amazing Fantasy #15 (12 cents) Fantastic Four #6 (12 cents) Rocky and his Fiendish Friends (25 cents) Superman #155 (12 cents) Superman Annual #5 (25 cents)
And I'll use the remaining 2 cents for some penny candy.

Rocky and His Fiendish Friends #1 (25 cents): Loved thois cartoon; would definitely have picked up this comic.
Amazing Fantasy #15 (12 cents): I'd like to think that this comic would have gabbed my attention for its own sake and not because eight-year-old me had a premoniton about how valuable (in every way) it would be one day and decided to buy eight copies for my comics vault, not to be opened until somedya when I needed a cool million.
Batman Annual #3 (25 cents): Well, this would have kept ne busy for hours and hours. The Gorilla Boss alone is enough to get me to plunk down my quarter!
Challengers of the Unknown #27 (12 cents): Loved those adventure teams.
26 cents left. Damn. Tough choice. That juicy Superman Annual #5 or two other titles?
Some tempting possibilities:
GI Combat? A cover right out of a war movie...
My Greatest Adventure? It's got a giant monster...
Atom? I've never read that one... or a Hawkman, for that matter. He's in Brave and the Bold.
Decisions, decisions!
I think my practical side would have won out. That Superman Annua has 80 pages. Two twelve-centers have just 64.
I'm looking for maximum reading time, so the Annual it is. (25 cents).
Grand total: 99 cents.
