Prince Hal, you showing that large Superman cover reminded me that that was one of the stories in my "Greatest Superman Stories Ever Told" TPB. I may have to swap that for one of my other comics!

I have not spent my $1.20 for August 1962. Here goes: My must haves: Green Lantern #16 - LOVE Star Sapphire! 12 cents And as I love the fact that the Superman comics have characters who appear in multiple books, I'd also snatch these up: Superman #156 - Supergirl on the cover 12 cents Lois Lane #36 - Lana fan here, and she's on the cover 12 cents Jimmy Olsen #64 - I'm also a Lucy Lane fan, so... 12 cents I've always liked comic covers that have a black background, or one that's predominantly black; so I'd probably pick these up also: Devil Kids, starring Hot Stuff #3 (Harvey) 12 cents Mysteries of Unexplored Worlds #32 (Charlton) 12 cents Phantom #1 (Gold Key) 12 cents Total: 84 cents. I'll spend the remaining 36 cents on an egg cream (vanilla) and an assortment of candy including Strawberry Licorice Broadway Rolls.

Lucy Lane is awesome!
And simultaneously so awful!
Jimmy and Lucy are perfect together.

A few notes: ...And Charlton manages to put out Black Fury #15 and Black Fury #38, two different series. Yes, Charlton had some promotional series that were intended for and distributed to shoe stores. These promotional issues were published every few months and contained the same stories/reprints from the "regular" newsstand series' issue that was currently or recently on sale. For example here Black Fury #15 contained reprints from BF #38, with a cover that had originally appeared on Black Fury #5 (#15's cover modified to accommodate the promotional design elements including the specific shoe store's name).

This week’s choices reminded me how much I like Batman #151, so I went over to eBay on a whim and found a copy of #151 up for auction. I put a low bid on it and so far I’m the only one bidding on it.
The auction still has a few days to go. It would be nice to get Batman #151 pretty cheap.

Space Family Robinson #1
That'd leave me with $1.08. Probably spend it on a sandwich and milkshake.

Now up to September 1962. A buck-twenty in hand, my time-traveling self will buy these: Adventure #302: One word, two syllables: Le-gion. 12 cents Justice League of America #15: I'll always buy a comic that has a team of heroes on the cover. 12 cents Lois Lane #37: OMG, so many characters--Lucy, Lana, Jimmy, Perry, a top-hatted Clark/Kal--on the cover. Can't resist this one! 12 cents Wonder Woman #134: Major WW fan; and while I was never much of fan of the "Wonder Family" stories, this cover's just WW so it's a must-buy. 12 cents Wendy Witch World #3: as I have mentioned before, I loved those Harvey Giants, esp. the Wendy ones. I'd pick this one up. 25 cents and worth it. Woody Woodpecker #74: I loved the Woody cartoon, so I'd buy this one. Another Giant 25 cents Space Adventures #48: I'd pick this one up for the very interesting cover, by one Mr. D. Giordano. 12 cents Total: $1.10, 10 cents left No egg cream this time around, but that dime is still enough for some candy. What a cover!!

My limited experience with ebay is that someone will come along at the last minute and outbid you.

I get to indulge in a few non-Big Two comics again this month:
Fantastic Four #10 (The Return of Doctor Doom!) Journey into Mystery #87 (Thor fights commies!) Adventure Comics #303 Flash #133 (Flash gets turned into a puppet) Challengers of the Unknown #29 Detective Comics #310 (zany looking cover) Justice League of America #16 Mystery in Space #80 Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan #133 Hanna-Barbera Bandwagon #2 (I don't know what this is, but it's Hanna Barbara and kinda looks like Whacky Races)
Edit: After finding out that Adventure Comics #303 has a Legion story (though there's not even a mention of it on the cover!) I had to drop Sad Sack #137 and get that one.
