Action #301 (mostly for the Supergirl feature and this month also has Comet appearing) Adventure #309 (as mentioned a must for us Legion readers!) Amazing Spider-Man #3 (might be my favorite villain debut of all time with Doc Ock) Challengers of the Unknown #32 Detective #316 Fantastic Four #16 Flash #137 (Vandal Savage and Jay appearances) Strange Tales #110 (Wizard and Paste-Pot Pete in my beloved Human Torch feature that I'll continue to stand up for since I'm hip to its far out groovy vibe, plus a Doctor Strange story...how cool is that??) Tales of Suspense #43 (might be my favorite early Iron Man cover, and I do love that gold armor era) World's Finest #134
Dang, wish I had a little left over for that Metal Men as well!

Yay, time to post in my favorite thread again Let's see, for April 1963 I'll pick these up: Dr. Kildare #6 Dell, 12 cents Fantastic Four #16 Marvel, 12 cents Justice League of America #20 DC, 12 cents Metal Men #2 DC, 12 cents Superboy #105 - Lana's on the cover, so I'll buy this. DC, 12 cents Jimmy Olsen #69 - the attraction here: "Nightwing and Flamebird." Such cool names! DC, 12 cents Tales of Suspense #43 - Iron Man looks clunky and unappealing, but Kala the "Queen of the Netherworld" looks interesting. Marvel, 12 cents Tales to Astonish #45 - The Wasp, 'nuff said. Marvel, 12 cents Top Cat #7 - I loved this cartoon on TV. And I really like this cover! Gold Key, 12 cents Unknown Worlds #24 - Ancient witchcraft? Yeah, I'll buy this. ACG, 12 cents $1.20 well spent!

Amazing Spider-Man #3 Atom #7 Boris Karloff Tales of Mystery #4 Challengers of the Unknown #32 Fantastic Four #16 Journey into Mystery (Thor) #93 Mysteries of Unexplored Worlds #36 Space Man #5 Strange Tales #110 Tales to Astonish #45
Not sure about Mysteries of Unexplored Worlds: the artist is listed as Rocco Mastroserio but I couldn't find any samples of his work online to look at. I like the title and the cover, though.
Curious about Space Man: this is the first I've heard of it, but looking at the comics.org info, it seems they had little info-features like "Our Solar System", which sounds like a cool idea for kids

I have a bunch of old comics, mostly Charltons and a few AGCs, that he's illustrated and/or inked. Very underrated artist IMO. He did many types of comics: war, western, horror, sci fi, you name it. berkley , you might want to try to search again (Image search), I'm sure there's of his work online. In the meantime as a basic guide here's some info about him: www.lambiek.net/artists/m/mastroserio_rocco.htmAnd yes, if I'd had 12 cents more I'd have bought that Space Man #5 comic -- what an eye-catching cover!

Mastroserio is one of those artists that seems to show up everywhere outside of the big two. In some ways, except for crating a major character (and having a deep, innate sense of storytelling) his career is a parallel to Ditko.

Maybe I should ask this in the "Ask a Quick Question Here" thread but can anyone explain why Charlton has Gorgo #13 and Return of Gorgo #2 out the same month of April 1963? It would seem that with those titles, the latter series should have started after the former was cancelled, not while it was still going!

It would seem that with those titles, the latter series should have started after the former was cancelled, not while it was still going! Gorgo was an ongoing bi-monthly. Return of Gorgo, which was titled Gorgo's Revenge for its first issue, was a quarterly that, according to some sources, adapted the screenplay for an unproduced sequel to the original movie and was not part of the ongoing's continuity.

Amazing Spider-Man #3 (looks like a cool new villain) Batman #156 (with a cover like that I've got to see what this is all about) Fantastic Four #16 (might as well return to this book, the story sounds interesting and hey, a cameo by Ant-Man!) Flash #137 (another comic that sells me on the cover alone) Superboy #105 (seems like a goofy story, but interesting enough) Tales to Astonish #45 (another comic with Ant-Man this month) Walt Disneys Comics and Stories #273 Donald Duck #88 (these two seem to have a similar theme) Worlds Finest #134 (cool cover, and I always wanted to check out a Green Arrow story anyway) Attack #2 (certainly an eye-catching cover)

This is a tougher month for me, I've just recently started getting more into Gold Key/Dell. It used to be just straight Marvel/DC, now I have to think a little more.
Adventure #310 (have to still grab this for the Legion) Blackhawk #186 (love the cover on this one) Fantastic Four #17 Jimmy Olsen #70 (first read this as a reprint in a digest and loved it, was one of my first Silver Age back issue purchases!) Magnus, Robot Fighter #3 Sea Devils #12 Strange Tales #111 (Dr. Strange) Superman #162 (classic story!) Tales of Suspense #44 Turok, Son of Stone #34

@jaska, I know what you mean. It's a shame to ignore all those cool looking Gold Key/Dell comics!
Fantastic Four #17 Journey into Mystery #94 Tales of Suspense #44 Adventure Comics #310 (a must due to the Legion) Detective Comics #317 (Cool cover) Green Lantern #22 Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #70 (some good goofy fun) Chic Young's Dagwood #133 (some variety for me) Ivanhoe #1 (I love the Ivanhoe novel, so hopefully this will do it justice. Cool cover, anyway) Peanuts #2

May 1963: let's see, I'll buy these Action #302: love the Daily Planet setting, with Perry, Lois, and Jimmy. DC, 12 cents Adventure #310: the draw for me is the banner at the bottom: "Extra! A great 2-part novel featuring The Legion of Super-Heroes!" Er, at this point the Legion is the lead feature--hardly an "extra" Whatever. I'm buying this! DC, 12 cents Fantastic Four #17: I like this cover a lot more than the remake on Marvel Collector's Item Classics #12. Marvel, 12 cents Superman #162: Lana's on the cover and the cover's by Schaffenberger. A must-buy for me. DC, 12 cents Lois Lane #42: More Schaffenberger. DC, 12 cents Tales of Suspense #42: Still not crazy about big clunky bulky Iron Man, but I will buy any comic (or book) that includes Cleopatra. Marvel, 12 cents Tales to Astonish #44: Ridiculous dialogue notwithstanding, I like that the Wasp is rescuing poor Ant-Man--again. Marvel, 12 cents Batman Annual #5: Love this cover and its layout. "Rip Van Batman"? Gotta have this. DC, 25 cents So that's $1.09. 11 cents left -- even though I'm a penny short, if the candy store guy takes pity on me and lets me buy one more comic, I'll choose Sue and Sally Smith, Flying Nurses #42--it's a bland cover, but I like the series. But if he doesn't take pity on me, then with that 11 cents it's Broadway Rolls and candy cigarettes for me Either way I can't lose.
