According to answer-to-all.com, a Hershey's bar cost a nickel up until 1969.

I did not buy anything this month that I can recall, but if I had been able to, I would have bought Fantastic Four 21 That villain looks damn scary. Adventure Comics #314 I'd've wanted to know who those all-time villains were. Batman #159 Bat-Girl, Joker and Clayface? Yes, please. (I was always a sucker for Clayface. Always felt sad for him for some reason.) Justice League of America #23 Loved when the minor leaguers got some facetime on the cover. Go, J'onn J'onzz! My Greatest Adventure #83 Who the h-e-double hockey sticks is "Negative Man? I'm giving this a try. This Sea Devils book with the awesome cover. (I've never seen this title before!) And how about this Hawkman guy? Sure, come on, Hawk-guy! And how about this weird-looking House of Secrets #63 And of course, the latest Tomahawk and Our Army at War!

I didn't buy anything this month, since I wasn't born yet, but that's not stopping me from spending now!

In real life, I did buy Spider-Man #7 in September 1963. I still have it, coverless but otherwise intact and readable.
I hope to get back to this game soon.

$1.25?? Thanks September 1963: Adventure #314. Love the Legion. Another cover with the gang standing around--a Curt Swan specialty. I know he hated drawing the LSH and all those characters, but he drew them so beautifully--they looked like statuary (I mean this as a compliment). DC, 12 cents Batman #159. Bat-Girl's on the cover, so I'll buy this. DC, 12 cents Fantastic Four #21. Marvel, 12 cents Justice League of America #23. Queen Bee looks interesting. DC, 12 cents Lois Lane #45. LOL, love Schaffenberger's Clark Kent. DC, 12 cents My Greatest Adventure #83. Doom Patrol. DC, 12 cents Pep #167. This cover sequence intrigues me, it's like watching a TV show. I'll take a chance and buy this. Archie, 12 cents. Sue and Sally Smith, Flying Nurses #54. Charlton, 12 cents Tales to Astonish #50. Marvel, 12 cents X-Men #2. Marvel, 12 cents No Giant comic for me this month--I have 5 cents to spare, and those candy cigarettes are calling me!

Adventure Comics #315 (Legion of Super-Heroes) Amazing Spider-Man #8 Atom #10 (Cool cover) Brave and the Bold #51 Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan of the Apes #139 Challengers of the Unknown #35 Detective Comics #322 (Bat-Girl!) Fantastic Four #22 Green Lantern #25 Justice League of America #24 I was initially one comic over, so I had to choose between ditching Flash #141 or Green Lantern #25. Normally I'd ditch GL, but this one has Hector Hammond and Sonar, whereas the Flash has the Top, so GL wins by virtue (or vice?) of better villains. Here's my cover of the month, and the reason I have this comic on my list for this month:

Here's how little me spent his allowance that month. Somehow I did read Tales to Astonish and Tales of Suspense, probably a friend's copy. I'll be buying Marvels in 2 months and will need a raise in allowance
Action 307 Adventure 315 Batman 160 Detective 322 Flash 141 Green Lantern 25 Justice League 24 Strange Adventures 159 Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen 73 World's Finest 138
A nickel left over for some Double Bubble Gum

Don't see anything I bought myself that month, so I'm picking titles I would probably have bought. (Still banking that extra nickel from last month and this to spend on an 11th comic in November.)
Adventure Comics 315 Amazing Spider-Man 8 Atom 10 Batman 160 Brave and the Bold 51 G.I. Combat 103 Justice League of America 24 Our Army at War 137 Superboy 109 World's Finest Comics 138
