By the way, does $1.25 (basically ten comics) sound about right? Is it too much? Too little? I don't want to make it too easy to decide, but it also sucks having to pass up so many cool looking comics! You're the cheapskate parent, so it's your rules But 30 cents a week is ..... Even I, from a humble background, was getting 50

I'll spare you the agony. The idea that Time Trapper and Time Master are the same character is a retcon first introduced twenty years later in Super Friends #17. There is zero evidence in the original story to support the idea and the two characters are quite different personality-wise. Also, the Wonder Woman story sucks (as does pretty much every WW story from that era).
Cei-U! I summon the spirit of the spectacularly anal-retentive E. Nelson Bridwell!
Oh, I hate that type of attempted "retro-fitting" continuities from much later events, thank you for letting me know that! Though as you mention Super Friends #17, I always remember that story sticking out to me as referencing (well, at least attemping to) regular continuity events. It kind of impressed me that the title was meant to be a junior readers title, but probably was more enjoyable for me at times than the actual JLA series (the Ramona Fradon art didn't hurt either!) Is there anything worse than Wonder Woman stories from this era? Unless it's Aquaman and Green Arrow stories from this era. Oh, and Human Torch solo stories.

Adventure #317 - Legion/Dream Girl, but I learned something I never knew reading the issue notes just now! The Time Trapper, who briefly appears here, actually appeared previously in Wonder Woman #101 as the Time Master. Now I'm curious about that issue!

E Nelson Bridwell treated Super Friends as if it was in continuity and he threw in a lot of references to DC happenings elsewhere. For the most part, I think he did an excellent job, though maybe not so much here.

December 1963 - $1.20 allowance $1.25 Action #309: great Swan cover featuring a bevy of supporting characters. Time-traveler me would probably buy this, but with a heavy heart. The lead story contains an in-story appearance by President Kennedy, who'd been assassinated just a few weeks earlier (obviously the story had been conceived/written/drawn months before this tragic event). After #309 was published readers wrote in about the insensitivity of publishing this story; DC explained the comic had already been printed and mailed out to subscribers and distributors. DC also stated that they'd been inundated with requests from distributors and others to print up more copies, but they refused, feeling that to do so would be cashing in on the tragedy. Adventure #317: another great Swan cover, and beautifully colored. I actually had this issue, I bought it as a back issue from my neighborhood collectibles store. I loved this comic!! It was both my oldest DC comic I owned at the time, and the only Adventure I had from the John Forte era. This is the issue in which Dream Girl changes Lightning Lass's powers so that Ayla becomes Light Lass, with a new power of making things super-light (weight-wise). Something that occurs to me in hindsight is that there's another character in this issue who receives a power "makeover", though it's not dramatized in the story itself as Ayla's is. This is also the first issue in which Star Boy uses his power to make things super-heavy. In his first appearance in the Superboy story in Adventure #282 Star Boy had a plethora of Superboy-like powers including super-strength. He was shown to be a Legion member, but after this story he faded into oblivion for a couple of years...until a reader asked where the heck was he (Adventure #308 letter column). Subsequently Star Boy's visage pops up a couple of times on those Legion "attendance/roll call boards." Then in Adventure #316's text feature it was explained that Star Boy could make objects/people super-heavy (with no mention of his erstwhile "super" powers). And finally here, in #317, not only does Star Boy appear but he figures prominently in the story and he uses his weight-inducing powers for the first time. And just so readers get the idea, there are no less than 3 in-story mentions explaining his weight-inducing power! So in this one story, Edmond Hamilton gives us both someone who can make things heavy and someone who can make things light. Such fearful symmetry The rest: Falling in Love #65 featuring Hal Jordan and Carol Ferris. I kid, I kid! But as always, I love those Romita faces. Fantastic Four #24 Marvel, 12 cents Girls' Love Stories #101 DC, 12 cents Justice League of America #25 DC, 12 cents Lois Lane #47 DC, 12 cents Metal Men #6 DC, 12 cents My Greatest Adventure #85 Doom Patrol DC, 12 cents Tales to Astonish #53 Marvel, 12 cents Total: $1.20 That leftover nickel will get me some licorice whips.

I don't know how this strikes everyone else, but I think Dream Girl looks much more attractive on the cover of that old 12¢ Adventure comic than in the more recent (80s?, 90s?) sample. Not sure if this is down to a difference in artwork style or just changes in aesthetic tastes over the decades.

The ones I remember buying, both at the fabled Hi-Way Sweet Shoppe (actually a bookie joint), down the street from my house: Adventure Comics #317 Man, did Dream Girl "make an impression" on nine-year-old Princeling Hal! YOWZA!! Superman's Girl Friend, Lois Lane #47 Nice to see Lois getting some revenge against Clark! Now, on to what I probably would have bought. War comics and reliable superheroes, fr the most part, though I also enjoyed comics devoted to "adventurers." Brave and the Bold 52
GI Combat 104
Star Spangled War Stories #113
Our Army at War #139
Justice League of America #25
Detective Comics #324
Challengers of the Unknown #36
My Greatest Adventure #85

Cool looking cover) Justice League of America #26 (Despero! Before he started taking steroids) Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #75 (Jimmy Olsen is awesome!) Rip Hunter... Thank you Uncle dbutler for the raise in allowance. I'll clean up my room more often. here's what Lttle Ish actually purchased
Action Comics #310
Adventure Comics #318 Amazing Spider-Man #11 Avengers #4 Fantastic Four #25 Flash #143 Green Lantern #27 Journey into Mystery #102 Justice League of America #26 Strange Tales #119 Superboy #111 Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #75 Tales of Suspense #52 Tales to Astonish #54 World's Finest Comics #140 X-Men #4
This month I was now totally into Marvel and still purchasing DC. Had to edit 5 books to fit the budget. Batman books still bye-bye along with DC SF comics and Sgt Fury. Things will get tougher when Warren Magazines begin to publish I also have 8 cents remaining. Maybe we can have a Comic Club with other CCF members where we pool our left over pennies together and buy more books to share
