I missed Fall of the Roman Empire! I guess I can read it at dbutler’s house on the way home from school. While The Three Stooges or The Little Rascals is on TV in the background. Sure thing. Just bring your World's Finest so I can read that while you're reading Fall of the Roman Empire.

What I bought that month before I turned ten: Superboy Annual 1 COULD... NOT... WAIT... And it was worth it. Hours of reading pleasure. Atom 13 Never had seen or bought an Atom comic, but that deep purple cover, and especially Chronos' costume, just grabbed me immediately. Story was way cool, too. Batman164 Who the hell were the Hootenanny Hotshots? (Li'l Hal didn't realize that DC thought it was was hoppin' on the cool music train, but was a tad too late for the folk music craze. I didn't care. this Batman looked a bit different from last month's. Hmmm. I wonder why. What I also would have bought with the remaining $1.84, which included 33 cents from last month: Adventure Comics #321
Blackhawk #197
Detective Comics #328
Doom Patrol #88
G.I. Combat #106
Green Lantern #29
Hawkman #2
Justice League of America #28
Our Army at War #143
Star Spangled War Stories #115
Superboy #113
World's Finest Comics #142Forty cents left. Hmmmm. Can't resist. [img src=" " alt=" "] Plus a nickel for a Milky Way or a pack of these:

April 1964, time-travelling Farrar will buy these: Action Comics #313 Supergirl has an evil gleam in her eye. A must buy. DC, 12 cents Adventure Comics #321 along with the Action comic, this is Swan's trademark: undynamic covers that nevertheless are supremely eye-catching. Poor Lightning Lad--hasn't he suffered enough?? DC, 12 cents Doom Patrol #88 DC, 12 cents Fall of the Roman Empire #1 Gold Key, 12 cents Fantastic Four #28 I have always loved this cover ever since I first saw it on Marvel's Collectors' Item Classics #20 (the only difference was MCIC had a black background). Marvel, 12 cents Girls' Romances #101 DC, 12 cents Heart Throbs #90 Romita cover! DC, 12 cents Jimmy Olsen #77 DC, 12 cents Justice League of America #28 DC, 12 cents Metal Men #8 DC, 12 cents Quick Draw McGraw Fun-Type Roundup #14 A nostalgic pick. Gold Key, 12 cents Superboy Annual #1 I cannot resist these 1960s Giants. DC, 25 cents Unknown Worlds #32 Schaffenberger cover! ACG, 12 cents World's Finest #142 Combo/composite heroes have always fascinated me! Plus the Legionnaires are mentioned, so this is a must-buy. DC, 12 cents Young Romance #130 DC, 12 cents Okay, so if my abacus is correct, that's fourteen 12-centers = $1.68; plus 1 Giant at 25 cents = $1.93. That means I will have to pass up these two "swingin' 60s" covers that caught my eye: Batman #164 (first "New Look" Bats in this title!) and the cool-looking Blue Beetle #1.

Lois Lane #50 has that great story where Lois uses a time machine to go back to the past to ruin Superboy and Lana’s first kiss!
I think Lois kind of deserved it in a later story when Lana imprisoned her in the Phantom Zone.

WOW! Batman Annual #7!
This is a key Batman 80-Page Giant! One of the top three or four giant-size Batman reprint collections of the era!

Tomahawk #93 (I don't know anything about Tomahawk, but it's got a giant gorilla on the cover!) There’s no reason why remote South Sea islands should have a monopoly on giant gorillas.

Tomahawk #93 (I don't know anything about Tomahawk, but it's got a giant gorilla on the cover!) There’s no reason why remote South Sea islands should have a monopoly on giant gorillas. I think I'm going to try and collect ape covers - especially talking apes. There's nothing cooler!
