With my 2 bucks, here's what I'll buy off the stands in May 1964: Adventure #314 I don't particularly like this cover--the Super Pets are cute, but where are the Legionnaires (apart from the ubiquitous Superboy)?! DC, 12 cents Aquaman #16 Mera's on the cover, so I'll buy this. DC, 12 cents Betty and Veronica #103 Archie, 12 cents Giant Batman Annual #7 Cannot resist the 1960s DC Giants with the multi-panel covers. And what do you know? Right on the heels of the New Look and its more serious tone--we get an Annual spotlighting the jettisoned Batman Family characters and the less complex, more innocent stories. I love it!!! DC, 25 cents Falling in Love #68 DC, 12 cents Fantastic Four #29 Marvel, 12 cents Girls' Romances #102 DC, 12 cents Laugh #160 Archie, 12 cents Lois Lane #50 All's fair in love and war! Lois goes back in time and tries to break up teenage Lana and Superboy. DC, 12 cents Rip Hunter Time Master #21 DC, 12 cents Superman #170 DC, 12 cents TV Casper and Company #5 A nostalgic pick. 25 cents X-Men #6 Where are Wanda and Pietro? (Squinting) Oh... there they are. Marvel, 12 cents Young Love #44 This issue's cover (by Romita Sr. of course) was used for the Young Love Showcase v. 1, one of my very favorite Showcase collections. DC, 12 cents. 12 12-centers = 1.44 2 Giants = .50 Total = $1.94
And the Giant Batman Annual has a great back cover too!!!

That Batman Annual #7 has the story where Ace narrates! This annual was the first Batman comic I ever read. That copy disintegrated azround 1967 and I only bought a replacement sometime in the last couple of years.
Cei-U! You never forget your first!

I got mine just a few years ago for a dollar! The spine is beat up pretty bad and the back cover is loose. If I want to, I can hang up that back cover without having to worry about tearing the comic up, because it’s already torn up!

I bought a couple of copies of that Annual a few years ago; it inspired me to seek out pre-New Look issues of Batman and Detective.

Assuming I kept them all in tippy-top condition (unlikely given that I'd have been 6 at the time of the latest round), I could put my child (assuming I had one) through college on the sale of the Marvels alone.
Cei-U! I summon the (imaginary) horde o' treasure!

That's an awesome idea. If I get ambitious, I'll come up with the list of my "collection" also. It looks like you haven't missed an issue of Tales of Suspense.

Yeah, that's a sweet back cover! That Shelly Moldoff Batman Family pin-up was originally on the back cover of Giant Batman Annual #2, from 1961--but I wasn't playing this fun game at that time *** classiccomics.org/post/432733/thread***I do have that Annual irl

In May 1964, it looks like I never made it to the candy store. Don't remember buying any of these. Picked up quite a few of them over the years, though. Had I made it to the Hi-Way Sweet Shoppe or Cohen's or Bergstrom's that month, I would definitely have bought: Batman Annual 7: Irresistible... and the back-cover pin-up cinches it. I'll be reading for hours! Adventure 322: The Super-Pets have their own Legion?! Go, Super-Monkey, go! Our Army at War 144: DC war comics were ten-year-old moi's first taste of existentialism. Superman 170: An Imaginary story, with the cast switching roles as usual. Next issue: "Superman's Two Mommies: Lois Lane and Lana Lang!" Tomahawk 93 You have to ask? Blackhawk 198: D-Day and the Blackhawks... just what the comics doctor ordered! All American Men of War 104: What a cover! Plus, I was a sucker for the Navaho Ace. Detective Comics #329 This comic keeps looking different! Capt. Storm #2 For that logo alone. Showcase #51 You don't see too many covers this exciting! This, for sure: I'm up to $1.68, so I will also grab these: Jungle War Stories 8 and Combat 13. Eight cents left for a pack of baseball cards and three Bazookas... What a birthday month for Kid Hal!

Big Superman month! Unfortunately, getting 3 giant size comics really cut into my budget. I'm 7 cents over, so I'll have to borrow from my "bank". I still had to remove something like 11 comics from my list to fit in the budget! 80 Page Giant #1 80 Page Giant Magazine #2 Adventure Comics #323 (Legion of Super-Heroes!) Amazing Spider-Man #16 (Daredevil guest star! I love me some superhero guest stars!) Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1 (Introducing the Sinister Six!) Avengers #7 (Baron Zemo, Enchantress, and Executioner!) Strange Tales #124 (For Dr Strange, not the Human Torch!) Brave and the Bold #55 (Metal Men and the Atom! A cool team-up) Detective Comics #330 Doom Patrol #89 Flash #146 Superman's Girl Friend, Lois Lane #51 World's Finest Comics #143 Justice League of America #29 (JLA/JSA team-up!! Best time of the year!) Sadly, no gorilla covers this month.

Alrfeady? Huh. Okay, then:
Amazing Spider-Man #16 ($.12) Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1 ($.25) Atom #14 ($.12)
Avengers #7 ($.12) Batman #165 ($.12) Daredevil #3 ($.12) Detective Comics #30 ($.12)
Fantastic Four #30 ($.12) Hawkman #3 ($.12)
Journey into Mystery #107 ($.12) Justice League of America #29 ($.12) Sgt. Fury #9 ($.12) Strange Tales #124 ($.12)
Tales of Suspense #57 ($.12)
Tales to Astonish #59 ($.12)
...and by combining the leftover 7 cents with last month's 8 cents, I can add
Brave and the Bold #55 ($.12)
Had to forego a couple of Julie Schwartz books in order to afford the Spidey Annual but it's totally worth it!
Cei-U! I summon the small sacrifice!
