80-Page Giant Magazine #9 - I'm not a big Flash fan, but I love the Rogues, so I got to have this.
Amazing Soider-Man #24 - I saw this in a reprint when I was a kid, and I didn't much like it. Which means I didn't read it to death before I was 18. Which means it's one of the more "fresh" stories whenever I read the Ditko issues of Spider-Man from start to finish. I have completely turned around on this issue.
Daredevil #7 - One of the best super-hero comics ever!
Fantastic Four #38
Journey into Mystery #115 - I love this whole period of Thor.
Little Dot Dotland #18
Little Dot's Uncles and Aunts #13
Metal Men #13
Patsy Walker #120
Lois Lane #56
Jimmy Olsen #84 - I bought this issue a few months ago. It's pretty awesome. I find that a little Jimmy Olsen goes a long way. But when it's really good, it's great!
Sarge Steel #3
Strange Adventures #175
Two-Gun Kid #75 - Alright! I have to read any story that puts Two-Gun Kid at the Alamo! I'm thinking of looking to see how much this costs on eBay!
Wonder Woman #153 - Because Wonder Girl is HILARIOUS!

Adventure Comics #332 - He’s not just any Dick of Outer Space! He’s the Super-Moby Dick of Outer Space! (Although as an adult, the hyphen placement bothers the hell out of me.)
Amazing Spider-Man #25 - This whole story is hilarious! JJ looks like his face is about to explode the whole time.
Avengers #16 - Geez, I love this book!
Batman #171
Detective Comics #339 - I saw this in a reprint the first few years I was reading comics and it’s always been one of my favorite stupid ”New Look” stories.
Doom Patrol #95 - Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Man!
Fantastic Four #39
Flash #152 - The Trickster cracks me up!
Journey into Mystery #116 - This was a really good month for Marvel!
Little Dot #99
Patsy and Hedy #100
Sgt. Fury #18 - My favorite issue of Sgt. Fury. I’m crying a little just thinking about it.
Showcase #56 - The Psycho-Pirate!
Tales of Suspense #66 - The origin of the Red Skull!
Wonder Woman #154
X-Men #11

Already? Wow, time flies! Anyhoo, I have three spots left after picking out my usual Lee- or Schwartz-edited must-haves:
Amazing Spider-Man #25 Avengers #16 Batman #171 Detective Comics #339 Fantastic Four #39 Flash #152 Journey into Mystery #116 Justice League of America #35 Sgt. Fury #18 Showcase #56 Strange Tales #133 Tales of Suspense #66 Tales to Astonish #68 X-Men #11
...which allows me to snag a trio of favorite Gold Keys:
Doctor Solar #12 Korak, Son of Tarzan #6 Mighty Samson #2
Everything was twelve cents, so I have eight cents left over to put towards next month's go-round. Sweet!
Cei-U! I summon a Big Gulp of Coke and a 20-piece order of Kentucky Nuggets!*
* The meal I always bought on the way home from O'Leary's Comics back in the day

I made a point to try and get some non-Big Two comics and wound up with three:
Amazing Spider-Man #25 Avengers #16 (The start of Cap's Kooky Quartet!) Fantastic Four #39 (Doom!) Journey into Mystery #116 ("The Trial of the Gods" sounds interesting) Strange Tales #133 Tales of Suspense #66 Tales to Astonish #68 X-Men #11 Adventure Comics #332 (The Legion!!) Batman #171 (Something about the cover just pulls me in.) Justice League of America #35 Detective Comics #339 (Gorilla cover!) Showcase #56 (Dr. Fate and the Hourman team-up! It's JSA time!) Walt Disney's Robin Hood #1 (I've always loved Robin Hood, so I'll give this a shot) Walt Disney's Uncle Scrooge #57 Jungle Tales of Tarzan #3

Let's see what we got.
Mad #95 Always a must buy even with the price raise to 30 cents.
Amazing Spider-Man #25. The best superhero book on the market.
Avengers #16. Let's see if this helps it not be so pedestrian.
FF #39. Still pretty good.
Journey into Mystery #116. Be nice if they'd just keep it centered on Asgard.
Showcase #56. DC is still pretty awful...but I love those Earth-2 guys.
Strange Tales #133. Dr. Strange is good enough to buy this even though the Human Torch stinks.
Tales of Suspense #66. Meh.
86 cents left. That's not going to buy a lot in the way of books or digests...but I'll live.

Regarding one of the comics on my list (I think I'll start collecting ape/gorilla covers the way @mrp does red dress covers) I could swear I've seen this cover somewhere, but I don't think it was Detective Comics #339. Maybe it was in a reprint edition such as a 100 pager somewhere?

Maybe it was in a reprint edition such as a 100 pager somewhere? The story was re-printed a little bit later in the 1970s than the 100-Page Super-Spectaculars. It was called something like DC Super-Heroes vs. Super-Gorillas. I’m working right now so I can’t look up the exact title.

With the bountiful allowance of $2, I'll buy these in March 1965: 80 Page Giant Magazine #10 Superboy DC, 12 cents Adventure #332 As long as the Legion is featured I'll keep buying Adventure. DC, 12 cents Avengers #16 What an eye-catching cover--who can resist all those colorful characters?! And there's my favorite, Wanda, on the cover! Marvel, 12 cents Doom Patrol #95 DC, 12 cents Falling In Love #75 Love love love this cover by Gene Colan. I used it for the Cover Contest awhile back, at which time I noted Colan's recreations of the other DC romance comics shown on the cover, including Young Romance #132 (original cover by John Romita Sr. and on sale in August 1964); Girls' Love Stories #106 (Jay Scott Pike August 1964); and Falling In Love #71 by Mike Sekowsky (September 1964). DC, 12 cents Fantastic Four #39 DC, 12 cents Justice League of America #35 DC, 12 cents Lois Lane #57 As long as Schaffenberger does the covers I'll keep buying Lois Lane. DC, 12 cents Sgt. Fury #18 I like this layout with the side headshots (Kirby uses this format again a year later on Fantastic Four #54). Chic Stone is one of my favorite Kirby inkers and you can really see his facial work here. Also, since I'm from the future I know this issue is a milestone. I'll definitely buy this. Marvel, 12 cents Wendy Witch World #13 As with the DC Giants from this era, I can't resist the Wendy Giants from Harvey. Something about the side insets really appeals to me. Harvey, 25 cents Wendy the Good Little Witch #30 What the heck, I'll buy the 12 cent regular-sized issue too. Back in the day I always liked buying Giants along with the regular-sized issue. Harvey, 12 cents Wonder Woman #154 As long as those inexecrable "Impossible Tales" (Diana-when-she-was-Wonder Girl-and-Wonder Tot) don't appear I'll keep buying Wonder Woman. DC, 12 cents X-Men #11 Back in the day this was my oldest X-Men issue, which I bought as a back issue (for 35 cents). Wanda and Pietro leave Magneto's Brotherhood and move right into Avengers #16 (see above!)--love the connection between these two series. Marvel, 12 cents Young Love #49 Another great Romita cover. I love the Mary Robin R.N. feature. DC, 12 cents 2 Giants @.25 cents each = .50 12 12-centers = 1.44 Total: $1.94 The two Giants make me feel like I've gotten more bang for the buck than usual this month. And I still have 6 cents left over, which I'll use for those penny coconut candies I love so much Love the connection between these two comics

And as I'm a huge Colan fan, here are Falling In Love #75's cover and the opening splash of the cover story.

DC Special #16... I just cataloged my box of short series starting with D a few days ago so had just seen this book. -M Thanks! This looks like something for me to put on my wish list. I bought it at a used-book store for 25 cents when it was a year or two old. I still have that copy. It’s never been in a comic-book bag. All the stories are great! I’ve read it over and over again.
