Yes, it is! I have very mixed feelings about that. I loved X-Files when it started, but it is my go-to example of a show that made stuff up and didn't really know where it was going when discussing whether shows should keep going vs. having a finite ending in mind. I felt it never really paid off on the mysteries and subplots it teased early on, and it got wonky at the end, and without spoiling anything, I don't really understand how they can bring back some of the characters who have apparently been announced. Anyway, we'll see.

I'll admit the original show didn't keep it's strength past say season 5, or should have ended with Fight the Future. But it's still carried fairly strong through the end far better than some other series of shows of the same genre and length. Fringe being a good example. I think it declined far worse than X-Files once the initial story arc was completed. I haven't read anything about the return and probably will pass on watching it. If the last X-Files movie is any indication, I don't think it's worth my time. I'd rather relive the characters watching the old episodes. Bad Blood can still turn my worst mood into laughs no matter how many times I watch it.

I enjoyed both the X-Files movies, and although I agree the quality did decline over time it was still always entertaining so I'm down for this.

I think the stark difference of the last movie over the overall theme of the show was what made it seem more like thriller staring David Duchovney and Gillian Anderson over an X-Files movie with Mulder and Scully. Plus I was never a fan of their friendship turning into a romance. Or at least the way it was handled post Fight the Future.
I guess there wouldn't be any harm in me reading what it suppose to be all about even if I still don't watch it. After all I was totally wrong about what I thought GotG was going to be like.

Finished binge watching season 6 of Community over the past week and was impressed with how they were able to bring it together without so much of the original cast. While it may not be on par with the show at its best it was mostly funny and had some great moments. The cameos throughout were pretty good. I was surprised by how funny Keith David was and it was also nice to see Yvette Nicole Brown show up in the first and last episodes.
Also just watched the first episode of Peaky Blinders and really enjoyed it. Great casting, good score and it's an excellent period piece. Will definitely be checking out the rest of this series.

A new season of Face Off started on SyFy tonight. It's probably my favorite show on the network, and one of my overall favorites as my wife and I both enjoy it, so it is a chance for us to watch something together despite being on opposite work schedules most of the week. Thank god for DVRs, as she recorded it and we watched after I got home from work tonight. -M

I agree about the X-Files - as does pretty much everyone I've ever heard talking about it: when I think back to my favourite episodes, almost all of them are stand-alone stories not closely or even not at all related to the ongoing UFO-conspiracy storyline, which, as Impulse says, always gave the impression of having been started with no idea of where it was meant go after the initial set-up. I didn't see the 2nd movie - not sure I even knew there was one - but the 1st one felt like a sub-par episode of the series, to me.

My wife and I both got into it about 3 seasons ago (the season with Rashaad and Tyler), and while the recent season wasn't nearly as strong, we're both amazed at how ridiculously creative and talented those artists are. I had to be in bed early last night so I could get up early this morning, but the episode was DVR'ed and will probably be watched this evening after our girls are in bed.

Yeah, and the shame about X-Files is I really liked the over arching plot, and I was hoping it would pay off, but it never really did.
My wife and I used to watch Face Off, but we were so put off by what we thought were atrociously BS decisions made by the judges/producers a few seasons back that it kind of killed it for us. I still like the creativity, but it's hard to invest in a competition show when it feels like the competition is fixed.

Looking forward seeing Lt. Kenda on the Discovery Channel on August 18th. It is one of my favorite shows on TV. Better Known as Homicide Hunter.

Ascension is surprisingly good, especially since I knew next to nothing about it. It's good not to read to much on the net before starting a TV series!
The plot is full of twists and turns, but unlike certain shows where these seem to be made arbitrarily, here we have the impression that the writers know where they're going.

Mr. Robot season finale So what the hell actually happened to Tyrell? What an interesting cliffhanger and I'm really glad we are getting a second season. I would definitely rank this season as one of the better shows of 2015. There was only one episode that I thought was filler and felt out of place and that was the prison break episode. Other than that I really dig the Hackers meets Fight Club vibe of this show. While I suspected Christian Slater's character being a figment of Elliot's imagination the reveal actually did surprise me. This show was so much better than I was expecting from a USA drama.

Already watched half of Narcos' 10 episodes season, and the acting is superb, the naration is really well crafted, it looks good, all in all one of the best new series in a long time.

Holy frijoles! The season and a half of Jericho is awesome! Great drama and a completely unsubtle but well deserved crack at the GWB/Haliburton/Blackwater vision of what the world should be like.
There's also a lot about the American spirit in there, both from the right and the left parts of the political spectrum. Despite its clear bias, the show isn't preachy and not all of its sympathetic characters would vote for Democrat.
Storywise, I apreciate that tHere's no return to the status quo ante at the "end" of the series, even if we do reach a satisfying dramatic conclusion. The world has changed, and history goes on.
Highly recommended. Gawd, that Netflix subscription is worth it!
