Me, either, apparently. I do think the X-Files was kind of ahead of its time. No, that's too generous. It was...kind of caught in a transitional period, or rather it created the transition. It's the kind of show that would have benefited greatly from having the meta story planned out from the start with a planned 5-6 seasons from the outset like many modern shows do. I think it was one of the shows that ushered in this era of having a whole series plot and not just episodic content. Sure, some shows have had a few episodes linked together here or there or even callback to earlier events sometime, but it felt like Carter tried to set it up as a show with a purpose and end goal. Sadly, he apparently never quite knew what that was supposed to be, and it became clear they were treading water and making stuff up as they went by the end, but it really had that potential. Kind of like Lost until it became clear the Lost writers didn't know what they were doing, either, and that they made crap up as they went, too. You know what? Never mind.

I was TOTALLY looking forward to seeing what happened from episode 1 to 2. I thought 2 was going to pick up where 1 left off. Until I remembered that X-Files doesn't work that way. I was kind of bummed. However, episode two was pretty good, and it had a super sad ending, imo.

From what I remember, the main story-line of the X-Files was pretty much told by the end of season 5 or 6 (can't remember which) so I think, perhaps loosely, Chris Carter did have the major plot-line mapped from beginning to end. I was a HUGE fan of the show, but I literally haven't watch it in sequence since the original air dates. I've forgotten a lot. I have it in my Netflix list and I might start it up after I work myself through the Star Trek series.

Has any one watched Stan Lees Lucky Man? It's only 2 episodes in, but I'm quite liking it.

I'm loving tonight's episode of X-Files. The monster of the week episodes were always some of the most fun of the original and this one is very much in the vein of those.

And yeah, it's only six episodes.

The newest episode of X-files was one of the funnest episodes I've ever seen. I loved how Mulder's cell phone ring tone was the x-files theme.
I'm glad this season isn't taking this too seriously and embracing humor like the show did before.
I think what surprises me the most though is just how little Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny have changed since the show ended.

On another note I loved the opening to the new season of Black Sails, the menace they created with that one scene was fantastic.

I will be sad to see it end in only three more episodes. I hope it gets renewed.

I was slightly worried at first, wondering whether they could recapture what made the show so much fun in the first place and not only have they done that but they've opened it up to new fans as well. That opening with Molder explaining what happened before was perfect in that it gave new viewers what the old series while not boring returning fans as it provided a perfect nostalgic trip down memory lane. I'm hoping it gets extended too.

This week's X-Files is another good one. Dropping the faux Alex Jones nonsense from episode 1 was the best thing they could have done.
