Stargate returning in a prequel series. I haven't watched the movie in years and have only seen the first two episodes of the SG1 TV series. Still this teaser looks interesting.

Enjoy! The series took liberties with the original storyline, but remained true to its spirit. And whatever you decide, do stay on till season 3!!! We finished season 1 last night. I must say, for me, it's got more gripping as it's gone on. I'm definitely a little more hooked on it now than I was when I wrote that post. Season 2 is all downloaded and ready to be watched over the coming weeks. It's interesting that you say that the makers took some liberties with the storyline, because my wife feels that it's a very faithful adaptation so far. Maybe that will change in subsequent seasons. The only remark she's made about it being noticeably differing from the book is that the youngest Stark child is perhaps a little older than he is in the book, and that they seem to have added a few extra "racy" scenes, in order to up the nudity and sex content (although there's plenty of sex in the book anyway). She's right about that!!! Season 1 was the truest to the novels, with only minor differences (and, as one would expect, missing material). In season 2 we get the introduction of new characters replacing ones from the book, telescoping of scenes, and changes in subplots (one character is changed from a rather benevolent one to a complete prick, for example... which made perfect dramatic sense on TV, where we must have resolutions in the next episode and not in five hundred pages). I didn't feel any of the changes to be inappropriate, however. In fact, completely dropping a good three hundred pages worth of material from book 4 was a distinct improvement, as far as I'm concerned!

I'm not sure why HBO did it the way they did, but it was not at all in keeping with the tone of the book.

Haven't read the novels but the show is great...I mean, all-time great.
Right up there with the original Twin Peaks as my favorite non-comedy TV show.
But I have to say, if it ends up being Jon Snow, Tyrion or Daenarys sitting on the throne in the end...I'll be disappointed. Would be an incredibly predictable ending to a notoriously unpredictable show.

Nickelodeon announced they will be airing a new one-hour episode of Rocko’s Modern Life which was probably my all-time favorite Nicktoon after Ren & Stimpy.

Would be an incredibly predictable ending to a notoriously unpredictable show. The problem is that if it isn't either Dany or Jon, then it seems too unpredictable and done only because it's something no one expected. Stories should progress in a logical manner, so that the reader (or viewer) doesn't feel by being swerved at the last minute out of left field just for the sake of doing something different. You also have to consider who has a legitimate claim to the throne. Dany does through hereditary inheritance, as does Jon (even though his true paternity is still in question, he has it through his father's side one way or the other), but who else logically has it? Maybe Gendry, a character we haven't seen in how many seasons, but who wants that, especially since it seems like his storyline has wrapped up for good? Regardless, the real story is defeating the Night King, and the Iron Throne is just the McGuffin to bring all of the various heroes together so they can fight the final war against the army of the dead, and who gets the Iron Throne in the end is secondary. Personally, I think Dany and Jon get together and unite the kingdom as one and bring peace to it after that final fight.

Stories should progress in a logical manner, so that the reader (or viewer) doesn't feel by being swerved at the last minute out of left field just for the sake of doing something different. I agree fully, and it's why I would have been extremely disappointed if, for the sake of surprise, {Spoiler: Click to show}Jon had turned out not not be Rhaegar and Lyanna's son after all. . It would have felt like cheating. As for the show's conclusion, I think that luckily there's still room for surprises that make sense. Perhaps there will be no one on the iron throne in the end; Dany may decide that that most uncomfortable chair has brought enough grief, and will have her dragons melt it for good. The absolute monarchy of the seven kingdoms could be replaced by something else. That's one of the brilliant aspects of this epic: you're absolutely right, that is the real story... but apart from Jon, none of the characters know it! I suppose they will come to realize what the real threat is in the end... but then, what? I hope it won't be simply a case of Dany's dragons huffing and puffing at the Night king. We already know that dragonglass and Valyrian steel are lethal to the white walkers, so I expect anything dragon-related to be anathema to them... and we don't want things to be too easy. Several of the unused plot points from the novel might be finally addressed: like how the near-disappearance of magic (which led to the dragons going extinct) may have been caused by the Citadel; how, since the dragons came back, magic is working better and better... I could see a finale where saving the world from the white walkers requires that magic (and dragons) be destroyed once again. That would be a tragic choice for Dany to make.

I'm gonna have to avoid this thread for a bit, because I think I just glimpsed you and Warmonger talking about further episodes and later seasons. I don't want to get spoiled.

You really don't! The show's main interest is how it continually surprises us!

My wife was a big fan of Stargate SG-1 and it's spinoffs, and we just saw the SDCC announcement of a new Stargate series called Stargate Origins that is a prequel of sorts-the catch, it's exclusive to MGM's streaming service-I didn't know MGM had a streaming service! Any idea what it's called or how to possibly get it?

I thought this season of Silicon Valley was funnier than the last one especially the finale.
Another solid season of Veep although the last episode kind of felt like it could have been the series finale even though it left things open for more episodes. Good news it that it was renewed for a seventh season.
The Leftovers continued to be one of the more interesting shows out there. I enjoyed this final season and thought they wrapped things up well enough but I'm kind of sad to see it go.

Game of Thrones season 7 episode 2 "Stormborn" I like how thing are coming together so far. The giant dragon heads looked really cool. The Samwell scenes continue to be some of my favorites and the special effects makeups for Ser Jorah's greyscae disease were gruesome. Arya's reunion with her Direwolf was a bit sad. I liked that they ended with a battle and it seems they aren't wasting any time this season. That was a hell of an ending.

Most of my television watching is from the Discovery Id Investigative Channel - about 50 percent of the time I'm on Channel 271. I will watch Supergirl, Riverdale, and occasional other programs from the big three network. I stopped watching Hawaii Five-O because of the Pay Issue, in the last few years ... for various reasons alone, I stopped watching the Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Arrow. Arrow was a major disappointment for me and I lost all interest in this show two years ago. The only Superhero Show that I've like is Supergirl.
I'll watch Military Channel, Cooking Shows, and Classic Movies on TCM when I get a chance to do so.
