Some pretty good TV series wrapped up their seasons this past week.
Blood Drive on Syfy a Grindhouse series which as I mentioned earlier in the thread probably only appeals to a niche audience. Fans of stuff like Ash vs Evil Dead on Starz or Syfy's zombie series Z Nation might want to check it out though. Unfortunately I read this show was cancelled but I feel like the upcoming season 1 Blu-ray set might still be worth picking up.
John Singleton's Snowfall on FX examines the 80's cocaine epidemic from multiple viewpoints including street level, the drug cartels and the CIA working with the Contra. Pretty good ensemble cast in this and I'm looking forward to season 2 next year.
Insecure on HBO aired the second season finale last night. I think Issa Rae is really funny in this. For a half hour comedy this series has no shortage of drama most of which I find is probably pretty relatable for most viewers. I definitely recommend this one.

I watched a couple series premieres this past weekend.
I was surprised I enjoyed The Orville on FOX more than I was expecting too. Parts of it play out like a work place comedy but some of the more Star Trek bits were kind of fun. I always find Seth MacFarlane to be a mixed bag and some of his stuff can be unwatchable. This wasn't great but could be an overall enjoyable series so I will check another episode out next week.
The Deuce on HBO is about Times Square NYC in the '70s mostly concentrating on the drug epidemic and prostitution. I thought that some of the casting was pretty good but don't know if I'll stick with the series long term yet.

I read a review of The Orville that said of the episodes previewed, the third one of the series was the best. The Deuce looks interesting enough, but I doubt I will keep HBO long enough to see the entire season, so I will probably pass.

Looking forward to checking out The Deuce.
I'm a huge fan of George Pelecanos's novels.

Recently finished watching the first season of Westworld. Holy crap! HBO hit this one out of the park. Incredible update of of the film. I'm hoping that the five year plan gets to come to fruition because there's a ton of story left to tell. Highest recommendation.
Also finished watching season one of Hap and Leonard. It was okay. I read the early books as they came out, but it's been well over 20 years since I've read any of them. My only complaint is that the protagonists were all a little too dumb in assistance of the plot. Still worth a watch, particularly given the limited commitment of six episodes. I'm hoping season two kicks it up a notch.

If not for anything else, I'll watch this one. Recently finished watching the first season of Westworld. Holy crap! HBO hit this one out of the park. Incredible update of of the film. I was worried they wouldn't live up to all the buildup, but the final episode delivered, and then some.

Ken Burns documentary series on the Vietnam War begins tonight. Just watched a preview clip as Ken is a guest on Face the Nation this morning, and it looks amazing. Setting up the DVR now...

I was pretty underwhelmed with The Strain series finale but the rest of the season was one of its best.

I was pretty underwhelmed with The Strain series finale but the rest of the season was one of its best. Yeah, it was like... doesn't the master have the memories of the people he takes as hosts? Doesn't he know about that button right behind him? Can't he just do the hugging a little further away?

Season 9 premiere of Curb Your Enthusiasm was really funny last night. So glad this show is back.
