I tried to watch the Wire, (I LOVE Idris Alba in Luther) but the 1st couple eps didn't grab me,
Justified is the best show going IMO, though the last season did meander a bit. So far disappointed by the 2nd season of The Americans . Vikings I'll watch, but I'm not as excited about.
I greatly enjoyed the season finale of Agents of SHIELD ...super fun episode, and lots of resolution, yet plenty to do in season 2.

I cant wait to see that episode... In February or March 2015! HBO sure takes its sweet time to release GoT on DVD... I can't wait either and I'm almost done with Season 3! Is this not the best show ever? Love it! I haven't started the new season yet, but they're losing more and more detail from the books, which makes me a little sad. Still an excellent adaptation, though. Really, I just want Mr. Martin to WRITE THE NEXT BOOK ALREADY!!

The first season was about the city, and how its tribulations affected those who still choose to live in it. Seasons 2 and 3 were about the drama in people's lives, the holistic side of things got lost and it became another soap-opera, just one with a peculiar setting.

The season 2 finale of Arrow was pretty epic. (I LOVE Idris Alba in LutherI think he's much better in Luther than in The Wire. Seriously some incredible performances and a great series. Wish there were more episodes. Justified is the best show going IMO One of my favorites as well. Sad season 6 will be the last but I think it's only right now that Elmore Leonard has passed away.

I tried to watch the Wire, (I LOVE Idris Alba in Luther) but the 1st couple eps didn't grab me, I can't imagine being ungrabbed by The Wire. Though I guess if you were looking for an entire story in each episode IO can see where you're coming from. You really need to watch an entire season to see a complete story. By contrast, I found an episode or two of Luther rather pedestrian. You're better off waiting for the DVD/BDs, as they've apparently been cutting material from the US cablecasts.

Got to watch the season finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. last night. I enjoyed it a great deal, as I liked how they brought resolution to a number of things but left enough plot threads dangling to be explored next season.

I enjoyed it a great deal, as I liked how they brought resolution to a number of things but left enough plot threads dangling to be explored next season. Finally watched it last night as well. Great season finale. We got payoff to May/Ward, Garrett (that'll teach him to monolog), and Deathlok. The Fury guest shot was excellent and Coulson's meeting with him and new direction for next season set a good tone. All in all, well done.

Great season finale for S.H.I.E.L.D. Looking on the internet, it seems I'm one of the only ones who liked the show from the beginning, but man, has it been on fire for the last 1/3 of the season! As others have said, lots of great payoff, grey Fury cameo, and the last scene with Garrett was brilliant. I was getting ready to curse the characters for being so stupid and the writers for revisiting such a common trope, but. NOPE! It worked out after all. Good stuff.

I saw the S.H.I.E.L.D. finale last night also. I agree, good season-ender. They must have only had Samuel Jackson for a couple days. Did you notice how in the big climactic confrontation scene between the four characters, Fury only appeared on camera in two-shots with Coulson? Samuel Jackson ain't got no motherfrickin time to wait for no motherfrickin Deathlok makeup...
And, BTW, The Americans just continues to be awesome. Every scene is so palpably tense, as everything could all fall apart at any second.

At the risk of sounding like a corporate shill, there's a new show we've been promoting at Showtime called Penny Dreadful and I'm curious if anyone here has heard of it or has seen it (it premiered last Sunday but the first episode was made available early through various sites).
It's created by John Logan (the writer of Skyfall, Gladiator, etc) and it takes place in Victorian era London and mixes new characters with established characters like Dorian Gray and Frankenstein.
Again - not trying to sell the show but since it's been marketed towards genre fans, I was curious if any of you have been aware of it.

He has generally decent taste. I'll catch it on DVD or Netflix as I pay too damn much for TV as it is to add in Showtime, HBO, etc.

We've watched it since the beginning and liked it too, but the excitement level jumped considerably after the Winter Soldier tie-in. I know what you mean about Garrett, we all were thinking "here we go again" and then the scene changed so abruptly. They definitely turned that trope on it's head. Moral of the story: Less time monologing, more time looking behind you.

I was worried too. There's a "no one is safe" kind of deal going on. I didn't expect what I saw last Friday. Quite disturbing, yet I don't want to look away. There's some really powerful imagery in this series. The garden of mushrooms, the honey head… Last episode's post-mortem display, was "just" another one. Yes. There is a strong artistic macabre images going on. I like that, but damn if it's not frightening. The honey head reminded me of Pushing Daisies, I believe series creator, Bryan Fuller mentioned was a direct reference to PD on Twitter.
