I was thinking, I wonder if there are enough riffs of Seven Samurai to fill a whole week... there might be.
Definitely would very highly recommend the original, as well the giant robot-ish anime remake called Samurai 7.

Comedy: Sullivan's Travels; I heartily endorse this recommendation. I don't know what your taste in movies is, so I could name any number of great movies you might not like. Some ideas: Network, The Conversation, Duel, Rope, Dial M for Murder, Once, The Thing (1982 version), Top Hat, Ruggles of Red Gap.

Is The Dirty Dozen considered a version of that also ?

I saw Network as a kid. Is duel the Speiberg movie about a Trucker?

Comic books:
Maze Agency (that one came out left field, huh? )
Cinder & Ashe - an awesome four issue mini from DC in the 80s, but only collected in trade paperback in 2014. Not set in The DCU, this just a really good modern noir story with an action edge.
Ms. Tree - best hardboiled detective comic book.
Lady Mechanika - pick any of the minis (all have been collected as trades). Steampunk, a favourite genre of mine, done right.
Desperadoes - Western horror. Start with the original mini that is definitely the best of them.
Suicide Squad (original run, 1987-92) - Watch as John Ostrander takes characters nobody cared about and crafts masterful tales about them. It's sometimes hard to remember that Deadshot was a third-tier Batman villain before this book, and most fans don't know that it was Ostrander and Kim Yale who turned Barbara Gordon into Oracle.
Movies: Knives Out - If you haven't seen this 2019 mystery film (albeit one with strong comic elements), then you owe it to yourself to do so. Anything else I could say would constitute a spoiler.
Destroyer - a 2018 American neo-noir crime drama film starring Nicole Kidman as a former undercover police officer who takes revenge against members of a gang, years after her case was blown. Has a killer twist at the end that makes you re-evaluate everything you've just see.
The Quick and the Dead - a Sam Raimi directed western staring Sharon Stone and Gene Hackman, and co-starring pre-fame Russel Crowe and Leonardo DiCaprio. Much better than it sounds.
Targets - Peter Bogdanovich's second film (and the first one directed under his own name) and one of Boris Karloff's last role, this thriller was made on zero budget. Gripping, and brought the concept of the spree killer into popular culture.
The Babadook - a 2014 Australian psychological horror film. Jennifer Kent's directorial debut, and incredibly unsettling. Essie Davis is brilliant as the central character who is either being haunted by a character from a children's book, or slowly going insane. Or maybe both.
Niagara - one of Marilyn Monroe's few dramatic roles, this 1953 film noir is about two couples honeymooning at Niagara Falls. Tensions between one wife and her husband reach the level of murder, as the other fi8nd themselves unwittingly caught up in the plots.
The Cannonball Run - my all-time favourite 'guilty pleasure' movie. I have no idea why this lowbrow comedy about an illegal cross-country race has such a hold on me, but it does. Roger Moore sends himself up mercilessly, and Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr. pose as priests. That probably tells you everything you need to know about the film, and whether or not you would enjoy it.
I could extend either of these lists indefinitely, but i thought I would start with some lesser known ones. Let me know if you want more suggestions.

These two I've never read, so I might take a look. Of the Movies, I might have seen Cannonball run and maybe Niagara. Thanks for the suggestions.

If the goal is to try some things you're not used to, a quick challenge I'd offer is to read the first couple of issues of Crossfire. If I recall correctly, Mark Evanier rubs you the wrong way, so I'm guessing you haven't read any of this series he did with Dan Spiegle, which happens to be one of my very favorites from the 80's.
For films, I'll suggest either of a couple of gently mind-blowing WTF favorites, Coherence or Triangle. It's best to go into them with no advance knowledge, which is how I believe you like to do it, anyway.

Seriously I don't have much to recommend that has not already been recommended. Lately I have been on a sci fi kick re-reading novels I read in high school or college.

Adding to my previous post of 6 of one half dozen of another, let me recommend The Sixth Gun, a weird western by Cullen Bunn published by Oni Press.
