1. Comic Binding Project Most of you know I've been binding comic runs that are too weird or never got a shot to have a trade. These are books that I like and wanted to keep in my collection (before liquidating in 2020) but wanted to pull out so I can read. Last year I did 20 volumes of minis, short runs (13 on the shelf, and 7 currently at the bindery). I'm close to finishing off what I wan to get done. I have about 9 more books to go. Just need to get scans of some issues and that's it. I might scour my collection again and maybe do a little bit more.
2. CGC Preservation Getting books I bought that mean a lot to me over the 'hot book' on the market. I'm not one of the people that is getting Amazing Spider-Man 300 done, like the other 33,000 done books. These are either small press books, undergrounds, weird stuff that's never been graded or funky stuff that is part of my collection. I have one golden age Disney book at the graders (about to come home) and then I'll send another batch in. I know some people here aren't keen on the slabs; I understand. I have either doubles or the books have been reprinted in some fashion. With the exception of my Dave Stevens books, whose covers I consider works of art and stand alone.
3. Comic Presentation I'd like to work on a project where I can display some of these CGC books. I don't know if I want to build something on my wall or build shelves. Ideally I'd like to order a comic spinner rack but those are crazy expensive! Holy spit.. I never knew. It's an option.

Was thinking about this part of your post... - Take on at least two massive unread runs remaining in my collection, possibly including: - Ditko's Spider-Man Would you be reviewing this run if you get around to reading it? I for one would love to read a Lee/Ditko Spider-Man review thread by you, as well as follow along and chime in with my own thoughts. That's very kind praise. Thank you. I've actually tried to read this run twice already and got so thoroughly bored that I had to stop both times, so I think launching a whole review thread around it might be a mistake. Too many folks I deeply respect adore this run, so I keep trying, but I'm not confident I'll be able to stick with it.

Slimming it down this year to things I am pretty sure I can accomplish:
Buying Goals Jonah Hex #91 to complete the series Secret Society of Super-Villains #1 and 14 to complete the series Cheap (less than $3/each) Batman, Detective, and Weird Western Tales featuring Scalphunter issues Maybe some more Hellblazer TPBs, if I can find them used
Reading Goals Read more. I started last year off pretty strong, then fizzled out by May. Did pick up a little bit in the fall, but probably only read around 600 books or so, far off the pace of my planned 1000.
Collection Goals Need to finally start thinning out the boxes. Going to focus on things I know I am never going to read again (I'm looking at a lot of 1990s Marvel here) and just get rid of things. Give them away, sell them, let my daughters have them; doesn't matter, need to clear them out.
That's it. If I give myself too many and don't achieve them, I'll be frustrated with myself, so I intend to keep a small list of things that I can do as long as I am diligent.

Like @mrp , I'm going to focus more on creating than acquiring, and will share when I have something done.
One thing I've been thinking about doing when I go to shows is, instead of getting drawings from artists, is to bring a board with panels on it and asking each to do a panel ( for the usual sketch price).

Ah 2023, what does thou have in store for me? Reading/viewing goalsSo I am setting weekly goals for myself, that will add up to a yearly goal. They are aggressive, and I may not make it each week, but I hope the productive weeks will make up for the unproductive ones... Comics-5/day -1825 for the year Prose-200 pages/week-10.400 pages for the year movies-1/week-52 for the year TV episodes/podcasts-5/week -260 for the year -M So today marks the end of the first quarter and I thought I would check in on how I am doing with these goals... Let's seem, to be on pace with comics of 5/day we're 90 days into the year, so I would need sot have read 450, I am at 460. We are 13 weeks in, so I would need to be at 2600 prose pages read, I am at 2945. At 13 weeks, I would need to have watched 13 movies to be on pace, I've watched 14 (and we plan to go see the D&D movie this weekend) For episodes and podcasts, at 13 weeks, I would need to be at 65. I am at 113. So thus far, I am at or ahead of pace on all 4. We'll see if I can keep up this pace. As for organization goals, I've made a lot of progress. I finished the alphabetical portion, and am working on some of the special collections. I've purged nearly 1000 comics and over 100 trades, and have all the organizational infrastructure in place. I just need ot get some more bags and boards, and a couple more short boxes to finish up. Haven't done much creatively though, so on that goal, I have fallen down. -M

At the 1/4 mark of 2023, let's see where things are at with my goals:
Buying Goals - Doing well. Only bought seven "Classic" comics this year so far. Jonah Hex #91 to complete the series - Got this back in January. One down! Secret Society of Super-Villains #1 and 14 to complete the series - Picked up #1 along with Jonah Hex #91 back in January. Another half of a goal down! Cheap (less than $3/each) Batman, Detective, and Weird Western Tales featuring Scalphunter issues - None of the titles listed yet, but I did get four old Captain Marvel issues (despite the presence of a certain Rick Jones) for $2.75 each. Maybe some more Hellblazer TPBs, if I can find them used - Picked up one so far.
Reading Goals Read more. I started last year off pretty strong, then fizzled out by May. Did pick up a little bit in the fall, but probably only read around 600 books or so, far off the pace of my planned 1000. Not doing great. Read almost nothing in January or February, although I have been reading (OK, re-reading) some things as "comfort food" in the evenings before bed. Just need to commit to a series and get to work on it.
Collection Goals Need to finally start thinning out the boxes. Going to focus on things I know I am never going to read again (I'm looking at a lot of 1990s Marvel here) and just get rid of things. Give them away, sell them, let my daughters have them; doesn't matter, need to clear them out. Got some plans in my head, just haven't translated that into action yet.

I haven't really thought about this too much, but.... Collection/Buying Goals: -Get at least 5 more of the Iron Man v.1 books I'm still missing (17 total). I'm not really wiling to by #55 (I may just get the Marvel Milestone version at some point).. but there are a bunch of early ones still left. - get another couple sets of plastic long boxes to replace the disintergrating cardboard ones. - Make some progress on the Avengers era I don't have (from 120-180 or so) - Maybe some Damian Wayne books? I'm sure some other stuff will come up as I go along Reading Goals -I made good progress on getting through my backlog, but then I bought a bunch a stuff. I'm going to make a concerted effort to read more of the DC silver age stuff I have in SHowcase volumes that I've had for a while sitting there. -I want to re-read some stuff I haven't read for a while... I have a few candidates. I may even try a review thread again, though I'm far less good at them than alot of the others around here. So far not bad for me too.. Got 2 IM books (14 and 47) for a good deal. I ended up getting tempted by a bunch of early 80s X-Men at my LCS, so might be that's the goal I pursue instead of Avengers.. maybe complete up from the 8 epics that are out (still need to find vol. 6 for a reasonable price) Definitely getting some back log read, but of course that makes me want to get other stuff Decided on 2099 to re-read... Spider-Man 1st. definitely having a good time with that!

Confessor I would be interested to hear your thoughts on Knightsfall/End/Quest even it's just informally in the "read" thread. I read them as back issues so obviously the whole Bane breaking Batman's back I knew was going to get resolved. But I enjoyed the journey getting there. And I know a lot of old time readers of Batman weren't keen on this publishing stunt by DC. I'd probably read along with you as it has been a very long time since the last read.
I also own the novel and remember liking it as well. But I think it only covered just Knightend. But I liked it. I believe it was Chuck Dixon who wrote it.
Edit: I forget it's already April. So, that is if you haven't already done it.

I plan to continue reading things from the late 1950s and early 1990s but I've been so consistent with those that I can't really call it a resolution. So, as in the last few years, my main goal is to read more new stuff, which for my purposes I'm counting as anything from 2000 on: at least one book per month, hopefully more. I haven't been doing too well with this lately so I'm going to try to be more conscientious this year.
I'm doing OK as far as the new comics go but I think I set my bar too low: 1 new book a month isn't enough to make a real dent in my back-log, so with that in mind, I'm not doing as well as I'd like with the new stuff.

Originally I was to send in my batch in January but reality hit and I sent them in March. When I started this project during the pandemic in 2020, I was looking at 50 volumes in total to get done. With this batch, this makes 48. I have some small mini-series I could do but it's a bit pricy just to put together 4 issues. I might 2 more to make it an even 50. I have some weird stuff like Captain Victory and those weird Kirby stuff (Phantom Force, Last of the Viking Heroes, etc) that would be interesting. When the time comes, I'll reach out to you all and maybe make a poll. 2. I've shared my pictures with you when I get back my slabs. There are some undergrounds I didn't share as they're NSFW but I've been getting weird nonsense that I like. More modern stuff than older items; I am submitting a few Silver Age here and there. My Dave Stevens books are almost done; I have to search for a few to upgrade, as a lot of my DS books are signed by him. 3. Still trying to find an old magazine rack, spinner rack is so tough! The modern comic racks are just so darn expensive. Yeah, they're made with quality materials but when the manufacturer opens up their spots to order, they're gone. The search continues.

Organization GoalsI want to get the rest of my comics organized, bagged/boarded, etc. I am up through the U's and have a few special collections not alphabetized to get through. The bulk of my comic spending will be focused on getting the supplies I need to finish this rather than buying back issues. -M This evening I bagged and boarded the last of the books I needed to do to get caught up. I have about a half of a short box of stuff I need to file in its proper place and that part of the reorganization process will be done. I should get that done in the next couple of days. I still have some cataloging and updating of my lists in the GCD to cover the books I purged over the last several months, but the big reorganization is just about done after starting it over 2 years ago. -M

So, that is if you haven't already done it. Sorry for the late response, I've only just seen your post. I haven't re-read the Knightfall/Quest/End run yet; I have ticked off three of my planned re-reads for the year so far and am currently about a third of the way through The Further Adventures of Indiana Jones. I've no idea when I'll get round to this extended Batman run, which I initially read in TPB form at the time (excluding KnightsQuest, which wasn't collected back in the day). I liked it a lot at the time, but it's likely been 20 years since I last dipped into it, so no idea how it will hold up for me now -- which is, of course, why I want to re-read it. But I wouldn't be doing a review thread of it. I would just write a few paragraphs about my thought in the "What Classic Comics Have You Read Lately" thread. Much like I did with my recent League of Extraordinary Gentlemen re-reads.

Reading Goals
* I've read Defenders through #60 and now have the rest of the series through the end (#152). I want to read at least half of the remainder of the series (so at least #61 through #107).
* I've binged Daredevil at various times up to #311. I have floppies or TPBs of #312-364. I want to read all or substantial part of that (like at least to #344)
* Continue my read-through of New Mutants in its entirety. If I'm not feeling it partway through, my plan B would be to skip ahead and read 70-something to the end (#100), because that's the one period with a bunch of issues I've never read before. DONE!!! Not only did I read New Mutants #1-100. I read the graphic novel, the Special, the Summer Special, Annual #1-7 (except the back stories from #6), Fallen Angels #1-8, X-Terminators #1-4, and numerous guest appearances and crossovers.
* Re-read some X-Men, X-Factor, and related titles. As part of my New Mutants binge read, I read two arcs from Wolverine, the Inferno issues of X-Factor and Uncanny X-Men, the X-Tinction Agenda issues of X-Factor and Uncanny X-Men, X-Factor #40-41, the X-Men/Micronauts mini-series, and various guest appearances of the New Mutants in the Uncanny X-Men.
* Finally read my Jack Kirby's New Gods TPB after a couple previous stops and starts. DONE
* Read more Legion of Super-Heroes comics I haven't read before. I definitely want to resume 5 Years Later where I left off. Other possibilities are the post-Grell, pre-Giffen period or the Archies Legion/Reboot era.
* Binge a DC Omnibus: either Bronze Age Justice League of America vol. 2 and/or Bronze Age The Brave and the Bold vol. 2. I'm a little less than halfway through Broze Age JLA vol. 2.
* Read Huntress #1-6 from the series launched a few years after Crisis. DONE
* Read some non-Big Two and/or non-superhero comics.
Buying Goals
* Buy less than I read.
* If I like the issues of Huntress that I read, decide whether to get the rest of that short-lived series Decides not to buy any more issues as I didn't enjoy it that much.
Possible Reviewing/Reading Crazy Idea??!!
* I have been thinking about doing a complete New Guardians review thread since I bought the whole 12 issue series on a whim off ebay about 18 months ago. It might be fun to see whether it's so bad it's good or just plain bad. I'm comically bad at figuring out & remembering how to post images. I don't know if I have the patience to write a reviews. Finally, I'm not sure whether anyone would care to read the thread and post there. If I can overcome those three reservations, I might do it.
