Oh, I have read it. I certainly respect Bob Bolling as a cartoonist. It's the basic concept that gives me hives. Just can't do it. I guess it's a pet peeve you have in the comic book genre. I loved those Superbaby stories. But I could never stand funny animal comics. Howard the Duck et al. Yuck. I watched them religiously in animated form, but I never really bought any comic books featuring anthropomorphic animals. I did read other people's comics that had them, though.

DC just last month did a thing where every comic cover was essentially the first page of the comic... does that count?

DC just last month did a thing where every comic cover was essentially the first page of the comic... does that count? All the ongoing Vertigo titles had panel covers last month except Astro City (which I think skipped a month for the release of the 2nd HC). The FBP one, in particular, was excellent.

I think panel covers going out of style has nothing to do with reader preferences and everything to do with original art collectors on the secondary market. Same reason splash pages are so popular, and from what I hear, all the cheesecake poses for women too.

The latest issue of Hinterkind used panels on the cover.

In any event, Vertigo did panel covers for a month, and here's the best one:

Also, one of the best books on the stands. So, y'know, read it.

I didn't realize it was every Vertigo title last month. I did happen to read the newest issue of Dead Boy Detectives though.
