Sometimes little things matter. Wetherspoons is a pub chain here that does reasonably priced meals (if you’re on a low budget). But they no longer do rump steaks, only sirloin steaks. Sirloin steaks are my least favourite cut of steak, so I’ll eat there less whenever I feel like eating out. I have to say, post-lockdown, I did try a burger from Five Guys. They did a burger far, far better than I ever could. Sure, I could have bought a burger for £2 and cooked it, but they did it better. I used to love 5 guys when you could get the burger fries and a drink for $9 ish dollars, now it cost almost $20 and its seems close to fast food than good burgers than it used to be. I VERY rarely sit down at a restaurant, I'm not interested in paying extra for a waiter/waitress and ambience. When I eat out I'm either looking for cheap and convienent because I don't feel like cooking or something I can't do myself for a reasonable price. Big fan of buffets

great analogy, and exactly how I feel about alot of Marvel and DCs content right now... if I find it cheap I might grab some, but for cover? there's only a couple things I'm willing to do there.

Look at this: I don’t recall seeing any Remco products here. The local market sold LJN’s WWF figures. Later on, you could find Galoob’s WCW figures and Hasbro’s WWF line, in major stores. But I don’t recall seeing even one AWA figure here. I defintely had this! The guys came in two packs mostly. I had the Road Warriors, the Long Riders, the High Flyers, The Freebirds (Hayes and Gordy) and then one with Rick Martel and Baron Von Rashke. I'm sure there were a couple others. Rashke was always my favorite because he was molded with a 'claw' hand.

I don’t think he has that top factor for me, either. Hogging the other 2? It’s funny, when we first got two WWE world titles after the brand split, it irked me, but as time has gone on, I got to like it. I even wondered, had two WWF world titles existed in the Federation Era, how might that have played out? If Raw and SmackDown had existed then, Hogan as Raw champion, surely? But who’d have been the world champion on SmackDown? How does the USA Network feel about not having a world title? Sure, Roman appears on both shows, but he is more identified with SD, I’m certain. Fox has a champion, wouldn’t the USA Network want a champion exclusive to them? I guess unpredictability is a good thing, I really don’t know how things will play out at WM 39. Not an exact comparison, but perhaps if Cody wins, it’ll be like WM VI, where Warrior forfeited the IC Championship after he beat Hogan for the World Championship. I’d really like to see two world titles again. To this day it doesn't make sense to me that they didn't make the IC title the Raw championship, the US title the Smackdown Championship, then have one World title. Two world titles is silly.. always has been.. and that way would make so much more SENSE.

Catfish: My life in Baseball by Jim Hunter
I grabbed this a while back at a library book sale.... not a guy I'm particular interested in, but I thought it might have some interesting stuff about contracts and the birth of free agency... nope.
Lots about arm trouble (yawn!) and a bit about more about the A's great teams that wasn't in the Charles Finley book that was pretty good.
Overall, I think I like books about a theme or a season than biographies.. they just meander too much. This one was also alot of humble bragging that got old real fast.

I think the list can be pretty fluid Like, Deathstroke USED to be a C list villain, but in the last event he almost took over the world. Kingpin is definitely an A-lister.

As far as 'ages' go... I consider the bronze age to go until somewhere between secret wars and Crisis.... depending on the day. After that is the 'Dark Age' or 'Image age' that goes through the 90s until Heroes Return/Start of the Ultimate Universe.
I would call the current era 'the All New Age' starting with New 52/when Marvel started re-numbering every writer.

yeah, for sure! I can tell that's the same artist, but it's actually good. Maybe the Darkstars work was rushed? (He definitely had some fill ins and then only did covers for a while, perhaps he couldn't keep a monthly schedule)

I've seen Thorgal but haven't read any of it. Are the stories self-contained or in multi-volume arcs, and what's a good tryout point to see if I like it? I'm only only vol. 3 (so 6 of the originals).. it's definitely a 'What if Conan was a Viking' vibe. The gods of the fictional dark ages world are definitely Norse(ish). The characters origin does have some Sci-fi in it, but, as MRP said, that's the only sci fi bit so far. (I think he's a volume or two ahead of me). I actually really like the art, which is what attracted me to try it when I was flipping through Hoopla.

I mostly remember Travis Charest from Darkstars, were I felt like was why to Image for my tastes.. but those panels here have a totally different vibe.

We just got up to date on Vienna Blood.. which has the uniqueness of being set in Vienna.. the main character is a freudian psychoanalyst that helps the police... pretty good
My all time favorites are Foyle's War and Inspector Lynley. My wife is a big fan of Vera (though I didn't like it as much), and Scott and Bailey I think?
WAY back in the day we watched Hettie Winthrop (which doesn't hold up all that well). Then there's the one with the guy that was a magician... Jonathan Creek?
There are others I'm sure.

My wife watches alot of British murder mysteries, which are populated with good (but not great) actors and actresses. When one of them tries to be American, they inevitably sound like they learned it by watching old spaghetti westerns, it's very funny.

All of the major series seem to have that same gap in the epic volumes right now... they have the first 7 or 8 volumes of material (which takes care of the silver age stuff) then they jump to the mid 80s, sometimes as late as the mid 90s and stuff that hasn't been in Masterworks or other big trades. I assume they'll fill in eventually.

Read Thorgal Vol. 3 last night... this one gets a little mystical, as Thorgal (after a year of being in a stupor) challenges the fates and then a mortal tyrant king to save his family. I really love the art here.. so good. The plot is a pretty standard one for Sword and Sorcery fans, but that's OK, it's a good plot.

I liked Daddy Long Legs alot (apparently they tied him to Eric Josten, but never did anything else).. Locksmith also seemed interesting, but was never was mentioned again. It's more it was odd to throw new characters out in a series that was already known to be cancelled.
