Of course! I even know director Tom Tykwer's brother a little from when I was working at the local comic book store - we were selling tickets for the open air cinema events he did in the summer. Oh, and you have good taste in cities! So, you also worked at a comic book shop at around the same time I did (early 00s). Let's see about that. Best one in Germany, Berlin. Best one in Europe, London.

Heck, I'm even enjoying Invaders after thinking Starman's James Robinson had been replaced by a Skrull based on his later DC output. It was The Shade that convinced me of that. Haven't read Invaders myself, but then, I do like Steve Pugh... Maybe trade.

More affordable for a poor psychologist-working-as-social-worker like me, too.

And I agree with Randle-El that Marvel has some incredibly good books right now. Hawkeye, She-Hulk, Moon Knight, Daredevil, Ms Marvel, Elektra are all wonderful reads. Heck, I'm even enjoying Invaders after thinking Starman's James Robinson had been replaced by a Skrull based on his later DC output. I may have to check some out. It feels weird having nearly no Marvel in my pull list after being with them for so long.

I've not read anything from the horse's mouth to corroborate this, but it seems to me that Marvel recognizes that independent publishers are on a major upswing and is trying to capitalize on that trend. Image's stock has never been higher, especially now that a lot of their properties are being optioned for development into films or TV shows and getting broad mainstream attention. A lot of the newer, b-list character books that Marvel is putting out seems to want to mimic that appeal by employing atypical superhero stories with "indie looking" art. I think the other part of it is that Marvel has had some history of allowing creators free reign to do what they want on lower tier characters and titles. Back in the 70s Daredevil was near cancellation when Frank Miller took over and effectively re-wrote the book.

Miller on Daredevil, Sienkiewicz on New Mutants, Jae Lee on Namor, all of my favorite Marvel artists were on the borderline cancellation titles. Even Sam Keith, who as far as I know got a Wolverine one-shot and the back cover to MCP, and that's it.

Might be a good place to ask why Rat Queens #6 has taken almost 3 months to get released? (PS Thanks to Cold Water for getting me aware of the first 5 issues, I really enjoyed them).
Also added Dark Horse's Tomb Raider to my current pull-list.
Add about 25 others from the big 2....

Yeah, I mean...I dropped pretty much all my Marvel stuff. I don't know what it is, but lately it all feels so bloated and...pointless? I started reading XMen books 23 years ago, and in the last year or two I've just stopped. There are just so, soooo many titles, and most feel pointless. It would be one thing if each book had unique characters the others didn't or a unique focus, but there is so much overlap and lack of any coherent focus. If there was at least a flagship title or two where I could follow the main arc I would probably still be on board, but as far as I can tell, there just isn't one. Plus, AvX was just atrocious. I don't know, Marvel seems more interested in short term profit lately, and I'm just not feeling the enjoyment there. I do still get any new Punisher book, and I considered PAD's All New X Factor but it seemed to fall right into the mess of the rest of the X lines. I was sad to see his previous incarnation go, but alas. I also trade-wait Fables. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone who hasn't read yet, but I feel like it hasn't found its new focus after it addressed the major premise. I like the characters, but it seems like it's treading water, and I just read it's wrapping up soon, too. I'm going to need some new (or undiscovered classics) to read soon! The current Fables arc, featuring Rose Red embracing her role as the avatar of Hope, is looking like it will be back to form... though a little slow moving, The X-Books are really two sets of books now, the Wolverine books and the Cyclops books... I've still been enjoying them for the most part, but the glacial pacing is frustrating.

Could be part of Image's trade policy... they have the trade come out and then take a month or two off. Three months doesn't seem that crazy to me.

I was doing my DCBS orders for July. Does Marvel really think Rocket Raccoon can carry a monthly book?
And that new Grayson book... I don't even know what to say on that front.
