Probably old news at this point, but if anyone here has any love at all for DC and / or Grant Morrison, Multiversity # 1 that came out last week gets a very high recommendation from me, and it seems most fans on the CBR boards as well.
A nice change from the hate that Final Crisis received.

Overall I liked Multiversity as well, I think it has a high probability to go off the tracks down the road and some of the techno babble made me roll my eyes, but as a first issue it was fun.

I've got faith that this is going to go down as a solid achievement for Grant and give the Multiverse a new boost as it really embraces the multiverse and helps to explain to all of us how all the pieces fit together.
I'll say it now. I can't quote the exact interview, but years ago, I'm pretty sure it was on CBR, just an off-handed comment Didio made about the multiverse and how, theoretically, each world or earth could be it's own title or imprint. That's where this will go, but really slowly. Not saying we're necessarily going to see that at its maximum, but I could see something akin to separate earths, like the Fawcett characters, having their own earth and continuity Golden Age-style, but still belonging to the larger tapestry of the Multiverse.
I'd buy the Fawcett title, probably a Quality one, maybe the Charlton one, a Golden Age-style pre-COIE Earth 2, a Kirby earth with all his DC creations, and probably others as well

A nice change from the hate that Final Crisis received. Which is funny, since it seems to pick up right where FC left off. Maybe it's just that readers were expecting something different from what had been promoted as a JLA event, but with Mulitversity they were prepared for Morrison's trademark weirdness.

I don't. They'll never let go of Darkseid from the mainstream DCU, for example. Besides, I wouldn't place any reliance on execs say in their promotional interviews; they tend to just say whatever they think will sound good at the moment.

I think with the Multiverse you can have it both ways. These earths will stay mostly independent on their own, but occasionally, like the old JLA/JSA crossovers, will overlap.
Yes, I still think that there'll be an Earth Kirby (I think it was 51) and it'll be THAT EARTH's version of Darkseid, the New Gods, OMAC, Kamandi, the Demon, Atlas, etc. Just like the original Earth-2 were similar but different, that's how all these earths are going to play out. Earth Kirby will be similar but different and I doubt that Darkseid will be the Main Darkseid in the Multiverse. In fact, they might even give some special stipulation as to why that particular earth exists but hasn't been found yet. Who knows.

I was unaware Black Panthers sister was a villain... Who says she is? She's the ruler of a country who often has to make tough decisions for the good of said country. Illegal weapons deals and kidnapping nuns for drawing attention to them? Seriously?

Still on Multiversity, one thing I meant to mention was that if this was meant to be the issue that highlighted the DC mulitiverse version of the Marvel Universe we really didn't get to see much. I did think Morrison's Behemoth perfectly nailed what's so wrong about the Hulk, though, and did so in a way that was both funny and accurate.
But if this issue was it for "Major-World", I don't think it bodes well for how much depth we're going to see in Multiversity's version of the other universes.

Berk, I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing it more down the road, but I think both companies use their counterparts fairly sparingly, though I too would love to see more.
I've got lots of comic t-shirts, and I love em. Wore a Superman Action Comics one today and as I picking up some Old Rasputin today (excellent stout) the checkout guy complimented me on the shirt. Apparently his dad has a comic store down in McAlister I haven't been too, but we talked about Multiversity for a minute, and it told him we're going to be seeing more of the worlds explored and we shared a little geek out there for a minute with him letting out a "Yeah !"

Yeah, I went back and looked at one of the promo articles that gave an issue by issue run-down and I see that this first issue wasn't intended to be one of those that focused on an individual universe.
Speaking of how each company uses the other's counterparts, that reminds me that there seems to be a difference between the two: first of all, Marvel seems much more interested in doing DC counterparts than DC does Marvel, and secondly, I get the impression that Marvel has historically tended to use their DC counterparts as tributes, whereas DC tends to do parodies. But maybe I'm being overly influenced by Multiversity 1's Behemoth (which once again I thought was spot on).

Is anyone else reading the Vertigo Dead Boy Detective series? I just binge read the first eight issues and really enjoyed them. If you've read the mini series or are familiar with the characters from Sandman I would highly recommend checking it out.

Meanwhile I finally got around to read the latest Unwritten trade paperback (the Fables crossover) and found it pretty bad, which is a shame because I was really enjoying Unwritten so far. Hopefully the new series will be better.
