Maybe I'll add Deathlok, since I like Edmondson's Deathlok. That second Deathlok should be Black Widow, of course. Anyway, I picked up Deathlok and enjoyed it enough to add it to my pull.

I think the major issue with Marvel and DC is that the best runs, critically, are almost always the runs left alone and not hampered by event tie-ins, but these are the titles that typically get canceled. This isn't just a case of Marvel and DC trying to milk the fans; the onus is also on the fans that buy all this stuff when they know damn well that the majority of it is mediocre. I honestly wouldn't have a problem with events if they were simply isolated to a six-issue series' that had little to no effect on on the ongoing's. (Rant-Mode Off) I agree -- with the possible exception of Amazing Spider-Man, most of the books I've pulled from Marvel in the last few years were books that steered clear of events. And even the events that tie into ASM are usually Spidey-specific events, which I don't mind as much. I think Marvel has worked itself into a corner such that they don't know how to generate sales without events anymore. They have made themselves permanently dependent upon spike/attrition-based sales from events and relaunches. It's as if they expect to hit their sales projections not by sustained sales, but from averaging out the boom/bust cycles. Skimming through Axel Alonso weekly Q&A with CBR, I discovered issue #13 of Daredevil begins to wrap up Mark Waid and Chris Samnee's run on he book, and both will be moving to other projects afterwards....which is a bummer. Not sure who will take over, but that could be the death knell of monthly Marvels for me as it is only one of 2 books I get and I am always looking to trim my pull list... I was disappointed to hear that as well, but at least they had a good long run on the book. I'm a bit surprised that we haven't heard anything about an omnibus release of this run yet. Marvel seems to be picking up the pace lately, releasing omnibuses within a few months of a run ending. I think I saw solicits for an Uncanny Avengers omnibus consisting of the first 25 or so issues to be released in February, and #25 has only just been released. I will wait and see who they get for a writer to fill Waid's shoes before I make a decision. I think read on another forum someone mentioning Greg Rucka as a candidate to take over. Whether that was a rumor, or just wish fulfillment I don't know, but I wouldn't mind that choice. I'm really enjoying Lazarus right now, and I think Greg Rucka could do a great job taking Daredevil back towards a darker feel. That's one of the great things about the character, that writers have been successful creating stories for him that aren't just stuck in one tone.

The whole idea of the Wakanda vs Atlantis war has always felt arbitrary and pointless to me. If Marvel wants to bring real-world geo-political conflict into its superhero comics the more forthright thing to do would be to have either nation at loggerheads with NATO, or something along those lines.

The latest Moon Knight was interesting, with a pretty decent twist in the story, but it will probably be cancelled soon (if it hasn't been already), so it will most likely be a moot point.

Marvel seems to be picking up the pace lately, releasing omnibuses within a few months of a run ending. If they aren't sure how long the last arc will last they may be waiting to see if they want it split into two volumes. Plus, they've got the OHC going (at least for the first run) and may want to finish that out first. I know some people were pretty upset when Hawkeye got an omnibus announcement before a second OHC.

So, I just got back from seeing Big Hero 6 and i loved it! Now, although I had never read a Big Hero 6 comic prior to seeing the film I was vaguely aware of the team and after enjoying the film I came home to check them out. I've read that the tone was no where near the tone of the movie, which isn't surprising, but what is surprising is that there is now move from Marvel to try and capitalize on the film. I scoured the web for news about a new ongoing, perhaps reflecting the tone of the film but found nothing. That just seems weird to me.

I had the entire run of Big Hero Six and whoever the teamup was with, all NM, sold them at bulk rate. Now I hear they're hot. Of course.

Marvel cannot put them out and cannot reprint the previous appearances. I believe Joe's Books has the American rights (as well as for a lot of other Disney properties like Frozen) for adaptations and original new material featuring the characters. The manga rights for Big Hero 6 are tied up elsewhere however. It's why they are not marketing the movie as a Marvel movie either, despite the success and goodwill Marvel Studios has with audiences right now. -M

I'd love to read a comic with the same tone of the film.

The manga rights was the big issue and it was an issue before the movie was announced, but I don't know the whole story there. But it sort of necessitated and end around by Disney to get products out there.

Does anyone have a summary of the big events we can expect in 2015?

I heard a radio commercial for Amazing Spider-Man #9, the Spider-verse event (it even mentioned the Spider-Ham) and Spider-Woman #1 while at work tonight. Talked about books being available at local comic shops of on the Marvel app and at the Marvel.com site, so it was definitely a Marvel sponsored ad, not a local business using radio ads. Was surprised and impressed by this kind of market outreach to non-traditional customers.

I had the first appearance of the team in the Alpha Flight series from the late 90s and sold that book, which I'd bought for $1, for $37 about three months ago. The only reason I still had it is because I hadn't gotten around to reading the series yet, so I quickly read it and dumped it while the value was high, and I'll unload the rest of the books at Half-Price Books for a dime apiece, since the entire run was pretty much garbage.

Does anyone have a summary of the big events we can expect in 2015? So far.... DCConvergence and something in September as they always do. MarvelTime Runs Out Secret Wars The End of the Fantastic Four Black Vortex (X-Men/Guardians cross-over) More will come as new solicitations hit I am sure. DC has been hush on post-convergence plans so far. Will have to see what shape the company and editorial take after the Burbank move as a lot of current editors are not moving with them. But I m sure there will be no shortage of announcements once that is set. Marvel seems to run 1 tentpole event and 2-3 smaller events constantly now-an X-event, a Spider event, an Avengers event, a cosmic event, a x-over event, etc. A lot will get announced once the spring con season starts up again in Feb/March. -M
