Season 8 Episode 4 "Some Guy" Weird that one of the most heart wrenching things this show has done is the death of a CGI tiger.

Season 8 Episode 4 "Some Guy" {Spoiler}Weird that one of the most heart wrenching things this show has done is the death of a CGI tiger. Personally... {Spoiler} I'd have much preferred it if Shiva had lived and the annoying Ezekiel had died. This was the best episode of the season so far for me though.

Season 8 Episode 5 "The Big Scary U" Glad to see things from the perspective of the Saviors plus a glimpse into Negan's backstory. I wonder if and how they will adapt the "Here's Negan" story arc. Once again members of Rick's group coming to blows over differences in philosophy this time it's Rick and Daryl.

Well, if this show hadn’t already jumped the shark, it certainly did last night...

Yeah, Season 8 has been fairly rubbish. The mid-season finale was so disappointing.
You watch The Talking Dead then and the guy gushes about slow and dull episodes as though they were written better than Shakespeare and we have just watched something special... Game of Thrones it isn't! TWD has gone downhill for the last couple of years for me.

I think they tried to capture the chaos that comes with war, I'm not so sure they succeeded.

I'm still enjoying the show, and I admit I was surprised with the ending of the mid-season finale.
One thing I find amusing is people starting petitions about firing Scott Gimple over the Carl incident. I can remember when people hated him as a character, complaining about him actin stupidly and wandering off and stuff, and now they're all worked up over this.

One thing I find amusing is people starting petitions about firing Scott Gimple over the Carl incident. I can remember when people hated him as a character, complaining about him actin stupidly and wandering off and stuff, and now they're all worked up over this. The series is a mixed bag in that the showrunners' hands are tied by creating Big Bad villains who are so engaged in conflict that there's no way they would last so long. Essentially, plot armor, so viewers will have to sit though Negan swaying and his toothy grin for another season, at least. About Carl: I've never understood this running problem with fans of sci-fi and fantasy toward children acting like...children. In the 1980s, there was this irrational hatred of Wesley Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation, and in recent years, the hate moved on to Carl Grimes. Kids being interested in exploring the world around them (ignoring personal safety), or wanting to help adults are all part of kids being kids, but some really hate that. Sort of disturbing. I agree that the fans who never liked Carl as a child or teenager should shut up, but we must remember that some fans have conned themselves with their own beliefs about the Walking Dead being Carl's story, or that he's the future of that world. Nothing to base that on, but you know how some fans are--their personal continuity or wishes "must" be that of the series, too. As for firing Scott Gimple...I think there's room for argument there, as he (and Hurd, among others) keep thinking shock deaths of main characters is a substitute for drama. It's not, as this series seems to have a fear of having main character deaths really linger in the hearts of survivors, if we recall Maggie and Sasha's reactions to the deaths of Beth & Tyreese, respectively. The last time a character death actually held weight was the season-long guilt/visions Rick had after Lori's death, and that's way back in the third season. The series has certainly lost something since that time.

One thing I find amusing is people starting petitions about firing Scott Gimple over the Carl incident. I held my opinion until I watched the second half, and now that I have, I can say it doesn't really bother me. The actor was growing up to look quite different, so he wouldn't have resembled himself anyway. Other than that, I won't miss Gimple. The Negan arc has derailed the series.

Fear the Walking Dead is back but I still don't like Alicia.

Fear the Walking Dead is back but I still don't like Alicia. I like that she's the only one of the annoying family from the earlier version of the show left.
if they can build off of that?. . could be great.
the episode Sunday was among the strongest they've ever done, and it was basically a 2 character play, with Alicia being one of them.

I’m always a year late on this show, on account of not having HBO... but it’s just arrived on Netflix, so yay! Naturally, there was no way to avoid being spoiled about {Spoiler: Click to show}Carl’s death since fans have been talking about it for months, but I was doubly shocked by the cruel revelation that {Spoiler: Click to show}the “flash forward” that gave us the impression that many characters would survive and that all would end well was not a flash foward at all, but Carl’s vision of the future. Talk about twisting the knife... especially since there was a reformed Negan in the vision!
The show might have slowed down a little in the previous season, but it managed to age gracefully far better than, say, the X-files did after an equivalent number of seasons.

Watched Rick's final episode. That was different from how I expected it to be.

That ending to last nights episode may have been the scariest thing this show has done. I've been really looking forward to The Whisperers as it's one of my favorite story arcs in the comics. I'm pretty sure Beta is the one that killed Jesus and there's a tease of Alpha's daughter in the preview for next week. It looks like Henry will be picking up some of Carl's story arcs from the comics particularly the blacksmith apprentice and I'm hoping the relationship with Alpha's daughter. I'm really looking forward to the rest of this season.
