Jor El in Movies and Television - Part 1 of 2Nelson LeighSuperman Movie Serial in the 40's He did a good job portraying him and I liked the way he handle the impending doom of the planet that we known as Krypton. He was a caring man, a good man, and he let his infant son to live in a far off planet better known to us Earth. I really like Nelson Leigh and looks really regal in that costume back then and that's why like Kirk Alyn series so much. Ross Elliot Adventures of Superman, Starring George Reeves The best Jor El on Television History and possibly the best Jor El of all times; Dramatic, Full of Authority, Noteworthy, and yet the Council of Krypton failed to heed his warnings. I just loved the way he acted in the 1st episode of Superman On Earth that starred George Reeves as the Man of Steel. I also loved his great costume and most commanding of all Jor El known to date. He and Brando were the best. Marlon Brando Superman Movies starring Christopher Reeve and Superman Returns starring Brandon Routh. From the InternetMarlon Brando was paid $3.7 million plus a percentage of the profits for 12 shooting days. The payment also covered the sequel, which was shot at the same time. Brando did not appear in the sequel because he had sued Ilya Salkind, claiming Salkind had not paid him his percentage of the profits. He ultimately received about $14 million for ten minutes on film. The footage shot for the sequel was used in Superman Returns (2006). From MechaGodzillaBefore, I start with Superman 1978 - I was very mad to see him in Superman Returns and having said that - I was so angry after watching the movie a week ago for the last time and threw the movie away in the Garbage because I find so many inconsistencies and flaws and having said that I just can't stomach any more of this garbage in 2006. I was stunned to learn through the internet that he was paid enormous amount of monies to lure him in doing Jor El in Superman 1978 that I was shocked to read this in the internet today. He was later paid and got what he deserved $14 Million Dollars for 10 Minutes of Film. He was commanding, awe-inspiring, magnificent, regal, and most importantly did a fantastic job of doing it. And, he got top billing in that movie as well. I never in my own lifetime to see an actor getting top billing for 10 minutes of film time and I consider that Superman 1978 is the best Superman Movie of All Time. He was incredible!

Jor El in Movies and Television - Part 2 of 2David Warner Jor El in Lois and Clark - The New Adventures of Superman, starring Dean Cain as Superman He wasn't good and/or bad - Just fair Job of doing the role that he required him to do and that what he being paid to do. He was a caring father, gentle, and most importantly did the best he could for his people - the People of Krypton. I just have a hard time remembering him on that show and sad to say this this is all I can say about him. Julian SandsJor El in Smallville, Starring Tom Welling as Clark Kent / Superman IncompleteFor the Record, I do not know anything about this actor and having said that I did not see him at all in Smallville and I did not watch every show that Tom Welling starred in but I did managed to watch it to the end of the series and can't grade his performance at all. Sorry Everyone! Russell CroweJor El in Man of Steel, Starring Henry Cavill as Clark Kent / Superman IncompleteHe was the worst Jor El that I ever seen in all my life and having said that I just don't understand how both the Producers and the Directors of this movie made every wrong about the Man of Steel and I consider this movie so bad even more worst than Superman Returns that was made in 2006. Being Hard of Hearing, I have a hard time hearing him speak in this movie because of all the background noises and the movie was marred by so many editing that I just can't stomach watching it. I have mixed feeling about his performance and having said that I just can't grade his performance at all. The Man of Steel that came out in 2013 by far the most disappointing Superman Movie that I ever seen and sorry to disappoint all Henry Cavill fans here.

I never knew that David Warner played Jor El. He was a great actor. I agree that Russel Crowe was terrible and the Man of Steel movie was a bust all the way. Superman killing was a huge mistake.

I like Marlon Brando a lot but I can't say that was an inspired casting decision.

Kathy Kane - Supporting Character for Batman / Dynamic Duo / Bruce WayneFirst Appearance: Detective Comics #233
I often wonder if Gene Tierney's face was used to inspire the creation of Kathy Kane here and I wouldn't be surprised to see that. It's just occurred to me a minute ago! Kathy Kane is by far one of the prettiest brunettes in the Golden Age of Comics and a great Supporting Character for Batman and that's one of the many reasons why I like the Batman Family back then. It was colorful, dynamic, lots of action, a bit of romance, and most importantly it was fun reading Batman back then. I know all about the changes when she suddenly disappeared from the pages of Detective Comics / Batman and I was very sad to see her let go. I adore her and loved her costume so much it's was a gem back then and still a gem today. I consider it a great design, a classic, and a perfect complimentary piece for Batman and Robin back then. These three pictures above you are my favorites and he had her own Batcave, her own sidekick - Batgirl (Bette Kane) and made a name of herself in the world of crime-fighting. She is a favorite of mine for years and years of reading Batman / DC Comics and I do have a copy of Detective 233 of which she made her first appearance and I treasured that copy for all it worth! She even made a cameo appearance in the Justice League of America - in the adventure of the Cosmic Fun House of which many of the Justice League Members in their Civilian Attire enjoying themselves. Here's the picture below. I just loved this bold picture of Batwoman here and I was happy to see this in the internet and proudly downloaded it for you to enjoy here in this thread. I just adore her!

Batwoman is an all-time favorite! Classy, fun, and a character from when comics might have been on the silly side, but were fun. Always liked Kathy Kane Batwoman and how she defied Batman's requests for her to stop fighting crime.
As for Ma and Pa Kent, I thought Glen Ford was great as Pa Kent in Superman (1978).
I think I am in the minority for enjoying Man of Steel. I liked Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Ma and Pa Kent. From the movie, I took it that Ma and Pa Kent had lived in fear of someone coming to take Clark away if they discovered his abilities. When Pa Kent sacrificed himself to keep Clark's secret, to me he did it because he loved his son so much and wanted him to be able to live a normal life and would do anything to protect Clark. I can't imagine what it must have been like for Ma and Pa Kent living everyday worrying someone may come for their son and take him away if his abilities were discovered. I may be a bit nostalgic as the Kent farm reminds me of where I grew up, but I enjoyed the movie and portrayal of the characters.

Hooray for Batwoman! One of my candidates for best issue of Detective Comics ever is #318, in which Batwoman plays a prominent part.

Most fans think Batman would marry Catwoman someday but Batwoman (Kathy) would be my choice to marry Bruce. Batman marry Catwoman Batwoman marry Bruce. Looks like Batman/Bruce Wayne will have two wives here!!! Catwoman makes sense to marry Batman. But as Bruce Wayne (retired from being Batman) Kathy Kane makes more sense (at least to me).
And only comic book fans would understand this kind of argument! One of the many reasons I like comic books!
