Commissioner James Gordon - Supporting Character of Batman / Dynamic DuoFirst Appearance: Detective Comics #27 (May 1939) Commissioner Gordon is one of my favorite supporting character and the first one appeared on the scene was Lyle Talbot and he was excellent in this 15 Chapter Movie Serial back in 1949 of which I on a yearly basis watch it on DVD. He was just perfect (pictured below with Batman and Robin) One of my fondest memories watching this serial is how he contact Batman by his portable Bat-Signal that he keeps in his office and that's one the coolest way of doing it back then and I have two pictures to share with you on that regards. One is animated gif and looks how it's appears in the clouds over Gotham City! Bat-Signal back in 1949!I encouraged everyone here to watch this Movie Serial because I consider the 1949 Version better than 1943 Version; because it was done correctly and fits the era of Batman in the 40's and 50's! ... It's has that Detective Comics feel and that's the whole beauty of this movie serial that Robert Lowery played Batman and Johnny Duncan played Robin.

Neil Hamilton played Commissioner Gordon in the Batman TV SeriesFor three seasons of Batman in Television in the mid 60's - Neil Hamilton did an excellent job portraying Commissioner Gordon and this actor deserved a lot of credit of the success of this series and he was tough, developed the needs to call Batman on the Red Phone when crisis arrives in Gotham City. I know some of you consider him corny because of his affection of Batman and can't survive without the help of the Dynamic Duo! But, I like him anyway and that's why he should be mentioned here in this thread.
Movies Versions of Commissioner Gordon - Pat Hingle and Gary OldmanPat Hingle as Batman in the first wave of Blockbuster Movies in the 80's was good, and very dramatic but I some reservations about him and he does have it's moments on scenes and I tried to find You Tube Videos in the past few days and all of the weren't that good and I consider him a good Commissioner Gordon and he was dependent on Batman when he turned on the Bat-Signal in Batman Forever with Val Kilmer as Batman and Chris O'Donnell as Robin. I find him wearing a Police Uniform in the above picture a bit odd and the picture below that one is a bit more reasonable. He was commanding, supported, and above all did a good job as Commissioner Gordon. Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon was likable, modest, and I have some difficulty deciding what to with him. Of the three Commissioner Gordons that I know - this one that I had a somewhat a difficult time describing him. But, he was gentle, concerned, and devoted to his job. Very Complex Character, if I may add here. These are the three Commissioner Gordon that I know in Television and in Movies.

James Rhodes / War Machine - Supporting Character for Iron Man First Appearance: (as James Rhodes) - Iron Man #118 (Jan. 1979) Note to Everyone: I know that he was briefly Iron Man for a while and I don't really care for him as IRON MAN at all; but care for him as WAR MACHINE. I know that I'm in a minority here and having said that I feel that him as IRON MAN doesn't make any sense at all because in my own heart tells me that Tony Stark will always be IRON MAN and no one else should take the mantel away from him including his friend James Rhodes. James Rhodes will always be WAR MACHINE. Please understand my thoughts here. James Rhodes first appearance in Iron Man 118. Don Cheadle and Terrance HowardDon Cheadle has the most acting credits and I do like Terrance in the original Iron Man Movie and having said that - they both did a great job as James Rhodes. Don deserved an extra star because he was more attune to the role than Terrance and I'm more in favor of Don than Terrance. ... An extra star for Don Cheadle. Man, he was excellent as James Rhodes! In all the Iron Man Movies that I seen ... the role of James Rhodes always have a special place in my heart and he's truly a friend of Tony Stark / Iron Man and that's why I like this character so much. To me, he is believable, talks sense to Tony, speaks in reality here and there, and most of all - he was a dear friend that Tony Starks can rely on. That's speaks character on James Rhodes part.

JARVIS - Supporting Character to IRON MAN / AvengersFirst Appearance: Tales of Suspense #59 (Nov 1964) Note to All: I'm not talking about the Movie Version of J.A.R.V.I.S because I wasn't aware of that when the first series of Iron Man Movies that came out starring Robert Downey Jr. I'm talking about a real live Butler of Tony Stark / IRON MAN who is affectionately called Alfred of Marvel Comics. Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark are quite similar in many ways more than one. Having said that, I just wanted to focus on JARVIS the BUTLER instead. I consider JARVIS has more responsibilities than ALFRED because he also serve as an assistant to the Avengers - Marvel Comics Supreme Team of which consists of Mighty Thor, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, The Wasp, and Ant Man / Giant Man and among others Avengers as well. His full name is Edwin Jarvis. JARVIS the BUTLER for Tony Stark ... Two Pictures of Him here. JARVIS the BUTLER assisting the Avengers ... Two Great Pictures Here He really takes his responsibilities (very seriously, just like Alfred) here and don't recall any adventures (please correct me if I'm wrong here) that Alfred the Butler assisting the Justice League of America when Batman was a member of that team. To me, Edwin Jarvis is a real supporting player for both Iron Man and the Avengers and that's why he's on the list of the 50 of the Best Supporting Characters in DC and Marvel Histories.

Jean Loring - Supporting Character of The Atom / The Tiny TitanFirst Appearance: Showcase # 34 Note to All: I was debating with this pick either Jean Loring (Wife of Ray Palmer) and/or Sue Dibny (Wife of Ralph Dibny) and guess what Atom wins over Elongated Man! Jean Loring is a very capable woman with a career back in those days being a layer and a wife of Ray Palmer. Having said that, I consider her more well rounded woman than Sue Dibny of which she ended up murdering her later on and becoming the villain Eclipso at one point of time that upset me a lot. I prefer her in the 60's of which she was a responsible lady that juggling her own career as a lawyer of which very few women back then was being noted for and her own personal life being a girlfriend of the Atom and later on marrying him and learning his secret identity of the Tiny Titan. I find her very resourceful, capable, determined, and most importantly she is quite fashionable and dresses for the part of a lawyer back then. That's her calling card and that's why I chose her over Sue Dibny at any day of the week. She reminded me of Jackie Kennedy of the way she dresses in the good ole days of Comics (Sixties) ... here an good example of that below. Jean Loring and Jackie Kennedy - Fabulous! Two Great Pictures of Jean Loring Ray Proposing to Jean Loring here - She still looks like Jackie Kennedy here ... Uncanny! Sad to say this ... the marriage failed later on!

Jimmy Olsen - Supporting Character for Superman / Clark Kent Anonymous Cameo: Action Comics #6 (November 1938) On the Cover of which it is kinda neat here; and it's very clever of them to do this! As Jimmy Olsen: Superman #13 Jimmy Olsen is one of those characters that speaks for themselves and most importantly a dear friend to Superman / Clark Kent and one of the many players in Superman's life. I like his youthfulness, his energy, his zest for life, and at first was a Cub Reporter for the Daily Planet and later a Photojournalist as well. I loved his spunk, eagerness, and his endless array of trouble that always requires the Man of Steel assistance. He is constantly getting in it and that's makes Superman extra busy trying to do everything possible to make sure that he is okay. His trademark is his trusty Bow-Ties that he wears all the time!
As Cub Reporter for the Daily Planet - Great Picture of him wearing his trademark bow-tie here. DC Comics / Wikipedia Link
In 1958, in Action Comics #238 ... the picture above you is incorrect he received his signal watch when trouble arises. In Action Comics #238, Superman is battling King Krypton a Super Gorilla and DC Comics was paying homage to King Kong and I thought it was a cool thing to do.

Elastic Lad - Jimmy Olsen
Craziest Idea that they ever did to Jimmy OlsenThey made him into a Superhero by the name of Elastic Lad that was originated two years before Elongated Man hit the pages of DC Comics and this is got to be the craziest, nuttiest, and most outlandish ideas that DC Comics ever done to him. He even had three Legionnaires all beauties going after him in one of the goofiest adventures ever. Saturn Girl, Light Lass, and Triplicate Girl going mad with him and becoming a handful in this wild adventure here. e I just read this story a couple days ago and I was laughing so hard it's was hilarious of how they did this story back then. It was one of many crazy adventures of Jimmy Olsen life. I just loved the Silver Age of Comics for all it's worth! Jimmy Olsen - Elastic Lad ... I'm glad that they did not made him Elongated Man two years later!

Jimmy Olsen the PhotojournalistOne of my favorite picture of him that I found in the Internet a couple days ago. I added this photo in the last minute! ... Jimmy Olsen in Television LandJack Larsen as Jimmy Olsen in the Adventures of Superman, Starring George Reeves! He was the Best of the Best Micheal Landes as Jimmy Olsen in Lois and Clark, The New Adventures of Superman! Justin Whalin, Jimmy Olsen in the Lois and Clark, The New Adventures of Superman! Justin Whalin as Jimmy Olsen was marginally better than Micheal Landes in this series and I have personal issues with these two characters when they appeared on show and I was hoping they find someone better. But, they didn't and I was stuck with these two actors for the time being. Mark McClure pictured here with Christopher Reeve was good as Jimmy Olsen and I wished they add more lines to his credits and I loved the way he portrayed it. He was good and the Movies best Jimmy Olsen and I did not care for Jimmy Olsen in Superman Returns at all.
It's a challenge for me to post all these pictures!
