I'm sure some people here are familiar with the following story but even if you are, you'll understand why I'm posting it here.
Jay Thomas met Clayton Moore back in the 1970's and had this tale to tell. It was an annual tradition on the Letterman show for him to come on and repeat it around Christmas. God, I love that story! Thanks for posting it! I actually met Clayton Moore at a California home improvement store in 1980, when I was 12. This was during the time that Moore was legally prohibited from wearing the mask because of the forgettable "Legend of the Lone Ranger" picture that was in production that year. He made a series of personal appearances to garner support for his legal battle. I was in awe of the man, as was everyone who came out to see him. His generosity, warmth, and boundless enthusiasm were spectacular to behold. He was indeed every inch a living legend. Thanks for sharing (What you have written here is right on the nose) that and I felt the same way when I met him too and I was warmed by his energy and passion and his voice was easy for me to understand and that's brought great joy to me because of my hard of hearing and doesn't mind repeating what he said earlier. That's a class act when I see one!

I still have my Lone Ranger action figures from the 1970s. Lone Ranger, Tonto, Silver, Scout and Butch Cavendish (though sadly, Butch no longer has his original outfit). They're displayed on a shelf above the stairs with my Mego superheroes. I loved those toys, as a kid. I'm glad I kept them.

Not to veer too off-topic, but if we're talking MEGO I have to relate my heart-breaking revelation regarding that legendary line. IMHO, the MEGO Type-2 body is the perfect action figure, partly because it's the one I grew up with, but mostly because the figure fit so perfectly in my 8 year-old hands. I could achieve any stance I desired, and instantly adapt to any situation that presented itself. MANY years later, my original MEGOs long since shuffled off this mortal coil, I attempted to recapture our former glory, making a few easy purchases on Ebay. Sadly, I discovered that while my beloved MEGOs had not changed, I had. My once-delicate, tiny, nimble fingers were now thick sausages attached to great ham-sized fists, unsuitable for much of anything, least of all directing MEGOs. The fact that they no longer fit easily and comfortably in my hand felt as if my own childhood had rejected me. It's been MOC ever since.

Lone Ranger - Framed for Murder
Season Four, Episode #47
This is the very first show that I watched with older brothers in syndication and one of the better shows that came out during Clayton Moore's Era of the Lone Ranger Television Series.
I will pick out one more Television Show that's my personal favorite in a day or two and share that here in this thread.
Enjoy this show and this is one of the better written one back then.

Other Lone Ranger John HartI have no history of John Hart as the Lone Ranger and did not watch any of his shows when he did the iconic role as the Masked Man in the Westerns. I'm truly sorry that I can't formulate an opinion of him when he did this role. I borrowed this picture from a dear friend of mine who like both Clayton Moore and John Hart as the Lone Ranger. This is on loan from him and I got his expressed permission to post this image here.

Wow ! I've never seen the Lone Ranger & Tonto Megos. Actually, the Lone Ranger line weren't Mego, they were by Gabriel. The line included the Ranger himself, Tonto, Butch Cavendish, Little Bear, Tex Dawson, Danny Reid, Red Sleeves and El Lobo, plus several horses including Silver, Scout and Butch's horse Smoke. You could also buy extra outfits and several huge playsets. It was quite an extensive line.

Did anyone see Disney Lone Ranger with Johnny Depp as Tonto a few years ago ?
It looked good to me but bombed at the box office.

Did anyone see Disney Lone Ranger with Johnny Depp as Tonto a few years ago ? It looked good to me but bombed at the box office. I saw the film and I've came away very disappointed in it and I did not care for the direction of this movie was going and it's didn't do any justice of the way Johnny Depp was acting as Tonto. I saw it once and vowed not to see it again. I'm so sorry that I gave it a bad review.

My Three Top Lone Ranger Comic BooksDELL COMICS LONE RANGER NUMBER 1You just can't beat this comic book and it's the best that I read in the past 40 years of reading it. TOPPS COMICS LONE RANGER #2I did not read much of this version of the Lone Ranger - but it's has great stories and the art is not a good as Dell Comics. DYNAMITE COMICS LONE RANGER #3I started reading this book and I loved the way they showcasing it and I get in print format - and I don't want to read it online it's not fair because I do enjoy the art and the direction it's going. It's becoming a favorite of mine.
