Lone Ranger Cartoons and MoviesDear All Members and Guests I did not watch any Lone Ranger Cartoons at all and having said that I wasn't aware of that until I investigated it yesterday afternoon checking out You Tube Land for them. Two Movies one in 1981 and another one recently in 2013.1981 Movie - The Legend of the Lone RangerTrailer of the Movie I saw this movie and I came away with a lukewarm feeling and the did not inspire me to watch it again having hit the theaters in 1981. Klinton Spilsbury as the Lone Ranger and Michael Horse as Tonto were okay but they did not make their roles memorable as I wanted. It was Average at it's best. One more thing, I liked the costumes and they did a great job with it. Picture of Lone Ranger and Tonto in the 1981 Movie 2013 Movie - The Lone Ranger Trailer of the MovieI was hoping that this movie will cure my ails having to watch the average movie that was made in 1981. Even it's had great scenes and action this movie failed to live up it's promise. Armie Hammer as the Lone Ranger and Johnny Depp as Tonto who was billed as the Star of this Movie failed on all counts and I rather watch the 1981 version instead. Please don't get me wrong and I had a hard time following it because of the movie itself did not flow very well. It was below average and I'm so sorry for all the Johnny Depp fans here. Picture of Lone Ranger and Tonto in the 2013 Movie I loved Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates Movies and not in the Lone Ranger Movie as Tonto. I just having so many issues with that headdress that Depp wore in that movie and the dark suit that Hammer wore too and it's was too dark and dreary.

Well, that all on the Lone Ranger at #50 and I'm moving on to Number #49 and it's an animated cartoon series and one of my favorites ... I will start that tomorrow rather late so I can have time to prepare for it.
Number #49 is set for tomorrow!

I am a big Lone Ranger fan. Watched all of the TV shows including the cartoons. Had the action figures (wish I still had them). Read a ton of the comics. Listened to the radio shows with my Dad when we found them on cassettes back in the 80's. I even liked the 1981 movie (even bought the DVD). Have the entire Dynamite LR.
But I have never seen the 2013 movie. My Dad & I were going to see it but Depp as Tonto turned both of us off. Based on audience reaction I didn't miss anything.
My Dad said his favorite radio show growing up was the Lone Ranger. And his favorite TV shows were the LR & Hopalong Cassidy. He even read some the original novels by Fran Striker.

I just started the Dynamite LR about a month ago and I came away very impressed by the art, story, and the general layout of the comic itself. I'm playing catch up on that book from Dynamite Comics and I'm happy that you are a fan of that book.

I still have my Lone Ranger action figures from the 1970s. Lone Ranger, Tonto, Silver, Scout and Butch Cavendish (though sadly, Butch no longer has his original outfit). They're displayed on a shelf above the stairs with my Mego superheroes. I loved those toys, as a kid. I'm glad I kept them. I sure wish I still had my 70's Mego figures! And my Micronauts and Shogun Warriors, for that matter, but at least I still have all of my Start Wars action figures.

I still have most of mine, but sadly two of my favourite Star Wars toys are long gone-the landspeeder got broken and the cardboard Jawa sandcrawler eventually just disintegrated becaue it got used so much. Looked for a replacement on ebay awhile ago and gave up on that idea very quickly when I saw how much they were going for now!

While he kept all of my action figures, my dad threw away all of the spaceships and play sets, and I had almost everything from Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back except for the Millennium Falcon and the X-Wing and Tie Fighters. However, I was able to buy a landspeeder and cantina set on ebay for reasonable prices, and I got the T-47 Airspeeder (Revel ship from Hoth) at a garage sale down the street for $5! So, my advice is, don't give up! Keep looking, and maybe something affordable will pop up eventually.

#49 Silverhawks - Rankin Bass Cartoon This cartoon show created by Rankin Bass in the mid-80's was a terrific show to boot and I just loved the way they animated it and made it very futuristic and spacey at the same time. I just loved their Headquarters name Hawk Haven and it's leader Commander Stargazer. I watch this show everyday when I came home from working the graveyard shift in the 80's - it was on every single day from 7:30 to 8:00 in the morning and while the show is on - I do my errands at home so that when the show is over - I try to get 4-5 hours of sleep during that time frame. It has everything you want in a cartoon with the good (Silverhawks) guys battling the bad (Mon-Star Mob) guys going against each other in Limbo. Because of the complexity of this show - I'm going to do something very different and I will try to enlighten all of you of my love and influence of this show made by Rankin Bass Production. They did a fabulous job animating it and I enjoy all their shows that they created and good thing about this show that every single episode is exciting and full of action! I don't have a favorite - I loved them all!

Commander Stargazer of the SilverHawksMy Favorite SilverHawks - and he made of partly Gold! Here's something that I written about him ... He watches over the Maraj the futuristic space craft that the Silverhawks soar into Limbo to combat Mon-Star and his legions. He’s from Chicago with a long history of knowledge and I compare him to a different-version of Vandal Savage in terms of history that goes back 300 years or more and I consider him one of the most respectable SilverHawks with an impressive Gold Suit that he wears. His appearance looks a lot like Professor X of the X-Men of which kind of cool looking and I loved his eye-piece that’s somewhat bionic that enables him to see greater distances and all. Does the Six Million Dollar Man ring a bell? He is an aging man with that’s somewhat cranky and plays a great support to the SilverHawks and that’s one of the most noblest and does enjoys occasionally gets into the thick of things and travels around in his space cycle that he built for that purpose. He is a sharpshooter with his hand gun that he carries around and doesn’t hesitate to use it for good. He is one of my favorites and I loved his wisdom, experience, and has array of weapons that make him a tough opponent to beat. That’s Commander Stargazer!

Two Favorite SilverhawksBluegrassCopper KidThese two goes hand to hand in many of their adventures in the two seasons of Silverhawks and I was very disappointed when Rankin and Bass decided not to have a 3rd Season of the Silverhawks. These two made it special and it's attracted many of the younger viewers of the show and having said that - it was Copper Kid appeal and add Bluegrass into the mix they made it a much educational appeal that the Superfriends cartoon had in the 70's. Bluegrass has a great weapon in his guitar while the Copper Kid has two discs that he keeps in his hip area that acted like a combination of Captain America Shield and Batman Batagrangs in effects. Copper Kid is very agile and has lightning fast reflects that enables the Silverhawks to get out of tights places. I just loved these two goes hands and hands together and that's made the show great. In retrospect of being an educational show - I will share two You Tubes Videos below of the quality of the show that's attracted a lot of younger viewers and for me - it's made it a great show for all ages because of the impact of that show success. Here's are the You Tube Videos that I'm talking about ... Sorry about the quality of the videos - but they had these clips on every show and that's made it a winner in my book.
