I loved Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. As Sherlock Holmes? Not so much.

Green Lantern John StewartMy only exposure of John Stewart is from the Cartoon Network's Justice League Unlimited and a few Comic Books and I felt that he was too bossy in the JLU and because of my limited experience of him - I have a hard time accepting him as a Green Lantern in the first place and please don't criticize me - I had a hard time accepting him as one of the major player in DC Universe. I consider him a second rate Lantern and doesn't belong in the first place. The problem is that he is a product of the Bronze Age of Comics and I did not read much comics in the 80's and the 90's and that's hurt his chances to become a great Green Lantern to me. But, he is a Green Lantern and when I do read some of his stories he was smart, resourceful, and committed to the Lantern's Corps. The interesting thing about John Stewart is that his comic book character was completely different than the Cartoon Network's Justice League Unlimited version of the character. They only shared the name, as far as I'm concerned. The comic book guy was more of a thoughtful, less aggressive architect. They made him into a drill sergeant in the cartoon. I did kinda like both characters, but the cartoon version proved so popular that they changed the comic book character to match the cartoon character. I'll confess to liking Guy Gardner, because he provided such comedy in the Giffen/DeMatties Justice League series. Sure, he's a jerk and probably shouldn't be the owner of a Green Lantern power ring, but that's another matter. Kyle Raynor is way after my time, but I do like what I have experienced of the character. The thing I don't like about him is his origin. To me, one of the best things about the whole Green Lantern mythos is that the ring goes out and automatically finds the most worthy successor - somebody fearless (and honest, though that criterion always gets ignored). It reminds me of The Sword in the Stone, and I like that. I know little about Baz, but I did read a TPB with his origin, and him starting out as a car thief bothered me. Remember that stuff I said about a Green Lantern being honest? If being brave was the only requirement, you'd have a whole lot of scary and unworthy Green Lanterns out there. I fondly remember Alan Scott mostly from JLA/JSA team-ups when I was growing up, plus the occasional Golden Age reprint, but I've run into him more recently with things like All-Star Squadron and the JSA titles. I tend to think of him as the focal point of the JSA, for some reason. Hal Jordan was the Green Lantern I grew up with, so I'll always think of him as the Green Lantern, but most of the other guys bring something I like to the Green Lantern history.

Iron Man was always cool. The Tech Knight. What couldn't he do ?
I especially liked the legendary Michelinie / Romita / Layton run.

dbutler69You made great points about the various Lanterns and I clearly understand everything that you said here and I completely forgot about the characterizations of John Stewart in the comic books that matches the personality in the JLU cartoon. I wanted to thank you for pointing that out and I wished I said that earlier. Great Call ...

Least Favorite Costume of Iron Man Silver Centurion - Model 8
To some of you here - will be shocked to see that I selected this outfit/costume of Iron Man to be my least favorite of them all and I find the Red and Silver and the design of it doesn't bode me very well. I used to love it but I felt that the Silver is so out of place it's doesn't ring very well with me because I don't like the head of this costume because it's so robotic-like and that's a big turnoff for me. The Red in this costume is too dark and I have a hard time accepting it and it's somewhat clashes with the Silver here and I also do not like the Silver Chest Plate as well; because it's kind reminded me of Superman and that's why I think it is a copycat of some sort. The gloves are a bit too big and the Silver of the Arms is very puny-like and knowing that makes me wonder why they drew him like that. The costume needs to be a bit more aerodynamic but it's doesn't do me any justice that artist drew him like this. The red in the shoulder area - kind of resembled shoulder pads of football players wear in games and that doesn't make it very elegant and acceptable to me. I would give this costume a D for it pitiful sloppiness and not a favorite of mine since I seen it in Iron Man Comic Books.

I dunno, Juggernaut. Iron Man has had lots of bad costumes. The classic red and yellow is clearly the best, but I remember seeing some pictures of some armors that he's had, mostly in the 90's, that were pretty terrible, as were most comic book things of the 90's. The armor with the nose (from the 70's) is kinda funny.

Tales of Suspense #39 Origin of Iron ManGreat Cover ............................................. First Splash PageIt's a pretty simple little story of only three characters: Note: Simple the better! Stark / Iron Man Warlord Wong-Chu Professor Yinsen Tony Stark made a fatal mistake of being captured by this Warlord and forced to build fantastic weapons for his own personal gain and revenge against the South Vietnam and America itself. So, in confident he was assisted by Professor Yinsen who is a man that totally against North Vietnam's Aggression and was forced to assist Tony Stark into building weapons for the North. But, in reality both Professor Yinsen and Tony Stark worked feverishly to create a weapon that do both Stark and Yinsen bidding and that how they secretly created Iron Man that was Stark's greatest design. They worked effortlessly in race against time to prevent Tony Stark's getting a Heart Attack and die into the hands of that evil Warlord with Professor's help they created a chest panel that uses the transistors that Tony created to protect his heart and his life itself. When this happen, the Professor gave up his life to distract the Warlord and giving Tony time to get used to his new equipment that both the Professor and himself created. Tony faces the Reds and hit them straight on ... Then the Invincible Iron Man blows up the Warlord, frees the prisoners, and head back home ... and start his career as Iron Man as this new wonder joins Marvel Universe! Iron Man became one of the pioneer in battle hardened heroes that uses technology to defeat evil and I consider him an unique one indeed in this issue it was the talents of Lee, Lieber, and Heck working together to create Iron Man in Tales of Suspense #39 that came out in March 1963. I'm a big fan of Don Heck's art back then.

Quick Comparison of the Original Iron Man Suit and the Suit in Iron Man movie back 2008.I just wanted to share this picture and see how well they put together the suit that matches the original in the Comic Books and I was kind of surprised to see this side by side. Looks pretty good to me.
