I had no idea he was ill. What a great loss to the CBR community.

Oh wow, what a great loss. I always admired and respected his contributions and his standard of being a mod. My thoughts to his friends and family. R.I. P. good sir. -M

Holy Shit!
I hadn't talked to him in a bit but I had no idea he was ill. Though I never met him, I certainly counted him as a friend; I learned so much from him in my time talking with him and I will seriously miss him.
My heart goes out to his family, he will no doubt be sorely missed by everyone he came into contact with.

I literally just pmed him today, asking when he was finally going to make it over here and see the Master of Kung Fu thread he'd goaded me about getting around to for so long. I'm at a total loss. I considered Jim a real friend; one of my absolute favorite people in this community. So many fond memories of him. When I first joined CBR, one week I noticed no one had made the thread about DC titles that would be on the racks that week, so I took it upon myself to make it. I got A LOT of pms from the regulars telling me I'd overstepped my bounds and that Captain Jim was going to crush me, but when he did log in, he laughed it off and asked me if I'd like to do it permanently. He didn't even know me! Later, Jim was one of my two favorite antagonists in my review threads (I'm looking at you, Cei-U ). He'd call me out on things regularly, get downright snippy, but at the end of the argument, no matter how heated, I somehow always felt closer to the guy. There was a mutual respect there I cherished. I don't know. I feel like I should be able to write a book about Jim, but I only heard the news four minutes ago and am just sputtering along with this post. Jim meant a lot to me. I'm beyond sorry he never got a chance to make it to this community, beyond sorry I'll never get into a heated discussion with him again, and I just can't fathom that he isn't out there anymore. I don't know if he had a family, but if he did, I wish them strength. Miss you, Captain.

Jeez. CBR already removed his name from the list of moderators on the Batman forum.
