Currently been working my way through Dragonball Super. Just starting on Part 5 with the arrival of Goku Black to amp up the fights. I am hoping they do something "more/different" with yet another "evil" Goku.

With all this pandemic nonsense going on, I decided to binge watch a couple of 90's remake OVAs; Casshan, Gatchaman, and 8 Man After (the later of which I'd heard of, but never really watched)
First episode of Casshan was good, not much to say about it. Nice production values, but the same can be said for any other OVA of the same time period

Been watching Serial Experiments Lain. Was a show that I've heard about before, but never watched. Not quite sure what to make of it, I like it, and the American Dubbing kind of gives it an extra sense of unease

Finished up viewing the 1st season of One Punch Man. Intriguing and interesting with plenty of humorous insights upon heroic fighter types. Unique anime that you can watch and enjoy on many different levels.
Now I need to get season 2 to see what strangeness it delivers.

I watched that I while back... it's an interesting mix of parody and serious story telling... there are definitely points where you're not sure which is which. I should watch the 2nd season at some point.
I'm currently watching the Great Pretender.. which had a Cowboy Bebop vibe (but without the sci fi, and less episodic). Pretty good so far. I'm also slowly going through Gundam Zeta, which is a bit of a slog, but seems like it's going to get good at some point.

while I'm not a huge anime fan, I have enjoyed some in the past (including the classics: "Cowboy Bebop" "Vampire Hunter D" "Overfiend" series, and of course, "Ninja Scroll"
I guess one could argue many of those are closer to Animated films (huge fan of Miyazaki), but to me they count as "anime"
I started watching "Assassination Classroom" last year, when Toonami started showing them in dubbed form, and was completely hooked. Oh, it still has many of the issues I've always had with Anime (not the least of which being I still have a hard time distinguishing characters from each other, if they don't have extremely distinct design), but I loved it enough that I even asked for (and got) the Live Action films that were released in Japan for the holidays.
the only other "anime" one I've just started following is "SSSS. Gridman" - only 2 episodes in, but the combination of Kaju and Ultraman style characters is keeping my interest (even if it has, again, the same issue of I can't tell most of the characters apart). But thus far, I'd describe it as "Overfiend crossed with Ultraman with a dash of the Matrix mixed in".
so I'll stick with it for a while. . at least until I stop enjoying it.
I've tried several others, but never got into them and don't bother (these includ JoJos Bizarre Adventures, Pokemon, Attack on Titan, Naruto, Airbender, and several other "big" names)

Avatar the last Airbender isn't Anime... it was produced by Nickelodeon... it's quite good (if clearly geared for kids), and meant to be anime style. but it wasn't actually made in Japan. Assassination Classroom is pretty interesting...one of the few I've both read the Manga and watched the Anime for. I LOVE Cowboy Bebop.. one of my faves. Miyazaki definitely counts! I haven't head of SSSS. Gridman, but I do like me some Kaiju . I not a fan of any of those others you mentioned... popular doesn't always mean good, after all. I always tell people that are on the fence about Anime to watch Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. If that doesn't do it for you, just forget it .

I loved Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad as a kid, so obviously I was hyped when SSSS Gridman was announced. Yet it still hasn't brought the Americanization of the show to Netflix

basically, the High School kid merges with the Gridman computer character. . who's kinda like Ultraman. his friends get involved and become objects that help the giant Gridman.

I loved Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad as a kid, so obviously I was hyped when SSSS Gridman was announced. Yet it still hasn't brought the Americanization of the show to Netflix Saturday Nite/Sunday Morning - 1:30 am, as part of the Toonami Block. (just after Assassination Classroom). Last night was episode 2, so they're still introducing the concept and we JUST met the "big bad"

I'm watching Cowboy Bebop. I tried it years ago and couldn't get into it, but I am enjoying it more now. I think the "old school" style is nostalgic!
