2017 Classic Comics New Years Resolutions I hope Icctrombone won't mind me stealing his thunder, but I'm ready to make my resolutions for next year NOW and, much like a spoiled child on Christmas, do not want to wait Buying Goals- Buy no more than 200 books this year. I have no runs I'm looking to acquire right now, so this should be an easy goal. I'd imagine I'm mostly going to be picking up run fillers, and there aren't all that many of those that I should need. I have no burning desire to acquire anything right now, as I still have so much to read! Reading GoalsI put a serious dent in my To-Read stack in 2016, and I'm hoping to run that stack nearly to the bottom in 2017. - The complete run of Gerber's Howard the Duck- Put a significant dent in my run of Savage Sword of Conan- The complete Kirby's Fourth World- Gaiman's Black Orchid- Miller's Daredevil - Micronauts #1-12- Atari Force - Byrne's Fantastic Four - Grimjack - Astro City - Dreadstar - Re-read Gaiman's Sandman from beginning to end - continue re-reading Cerebus along with The Cerebus Reading SocietyReviewing GoalsI set a new record with 184 reviews written in 2016, so I'm setting my bare minimum pretty high. - 12 reviews for The Complete Batman (4 down) - 24 reviews for Writer's Spotlight: Doug Moench (2 down) - 24 reviews for Justice League in the Post-Crisis Era (1 down) - 6 reviews for Nick Fury in the Silver Age- Keep up to date with Planet of the Apes from the Beginning- 30 reviews for Superman in the Post-Crisis Era (14 down) - 16 reviews for T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents at Tower Comics (7 down) - 12 reviews for Teen Titans from the Beginning (Completed) 16 reviews will complete the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents run. I don't know if I'll have the energy/interest to start a new review thread once T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents is done, but if I do, it will likely be either Avengers in the Bronze Age or Chris Claremont's X-Men.

I'm not even going to think about 2017 goals. It's like...preparing a wants-list, going to a comic-con, then emerging with things that weren't on your list at all but feeling great all the same. So no goals for me. Nope. Just going with the flow sent my way Besides, I'm fed up of not getting Batman 66 (1951) year after year...

In 2016, I acquired 59 Thor issues from Volume 1.
I have 77 more issues to get to complete from 126-502. That's my goal.
Verily, it will be done !

In 2016, I acquired 59 Thor issues from Volume 1. I have 75 more issues to get to complete from 126-502. That's my goal. Verily, it will be done !That is AWESOME! Review thread to follow? I've always wanted to complete a run of the Journey into Mystery issues, but I refuse to settle for digitally recolored trades, and the originals are way too pricey

The flaws which are listed with that book send it down too much...I'd want a minimum FINE. The last time I bid on one a couple of years ago, it was for a FINE copy but I got blown away in the last few seconds (my ceiling back then was around $450ish). Wasn't a total loss, I got a couple of neat 1940s Action Comics, also in FINE, for the same money.

While my goals for 2017, comicwise aren't that impressive, it's more of a goal to be a better modern collector
1. Three Monthly titles- just down the essentials of books I truly want. At this moment, there's 3 books I love getting. 2. More sketch and comic art- I had a stellar year of sketches but it's now more a matter of quality for high end pieces 3. Reading goals- read Cerebus and few other legendary runs that people keep on telling me to read. 4. Scale down- I mean WAY WAY WAY down. I'm going to donate and just plain give comics to charities and younger kids that want to get into comics. Want to start but don't have the cash? Here's a long box... instant collection. Silver Age and Bronze Age will stay with me but a lot of those 90s books and early 00s I can give to someone who'd appreciate it like I did.

For 2017 I am aming to buy no physcal comics!
It's probably easier said than done, but I just don't have the space anymore... although that hasn't stopped me picking up (what I view as) 'bargains' every time I visit a comic shop. It's like a drug, you see a cool cover and just have to pick it up! So I will try and stick to Comixology digital editions and collected hardbacks in the New Year.

Digital is great for 'research' and 'previewing' sample copies but I need the actual books in my hands after. I can understand the space issue. We have space in our house but comics go anywhere else too, which is why some of my silver-age books smell like Bath & Bodyworks. I'm currently up to 6,200-6,250 books...might add a few hundred next year but also sell a few hundred...

My 2017 Classic Comics resolutions are as follows:
Buying Goals 1. Complete my run of Daredevil from #75 up. I only need 6 issues, all between #77 and #92 to finish this goal. 2. Finally pull the trigger on Star Wars #42 and #68, which are the only two issues I need to complete the series. 3. Buy the Fantastic Four Omnibuses #2 and #3. I will be getting some Amazon gift cards in the next month or so for about $150, and that should cover these. 4. Make a push to complete my Flash collection. I need about 100 issues for the post-Crisis series, most of which I can pick up for about $1 apiece. 5. Find a really nice copy of Captain America #118 to replace my beat-up copy. It's the only book in my entire collection that I'm desperate to upgrade.
Reading Goals I'm not sure if I'm going to join the Reading Club for next year, as it puts a lot of pressure on me to make monthly targets to reach my end goal. I think I may just read as I feel motivated throughout the year. I really want to jump back into Daredevil once I pick up the books I mentioned above, and I think I also want to tackle the Hero for Hire/Power Man/Power Man and Iron Fist series as well. If time permits, I really need to go back and try Master of Kung Fu again; I started it once a few years ago, but I just wasn't feeling it.
Review Goals I want to revive my Captain America review thread. I've got about a dozen ToS issues reviewed already, so I'd like to get those posted as soon as I can. Beyond that, I want to get a minimum of three new ones posted per month starting in February and going forward to keep it fresh.

Buying Goals - Make a dent in my Sandman Mystery Theatre collection(Missing about 20 issues)I Likely am going to try and buy collected editions for some of these or digital issues because I want to finish reading this. Although I am planning to buy the single issues to. - Continue to look for The Spirit kitchen Sink issues. - Buy more collected editions of Spider-man Materials to replace single issues for more recent stuff. - Start to collect single issue of Marvels ROM series. - Continue to buy the FLASH by Mark Waid collected edtions.
Reading Goals - Re-read The complete Calvin and Hobbes - Re-read Marvels Transformers series. - Re-read Strangers in paradise - Read my entire back log of physical and digital comics. -Re-read "Valhalla" (Danish comicbook about the norse gods. In tone and such somewhat of the European tradition of stuff like Astrerix) I will likely add more for this list before the end of the month.
