Back to the grindstone with some goals I will likely not complete.
1. Read the backlog / review threads / winnow collection
I'm pretty sure at this point that I am going to dislike just about everything I read with Bronze Age Superman. So what I want to do is read them, finish my review thread, and then get rid of most of them to make space for things I actually like. This just feels very daunting since I am only at the start of 1977 and have 9 more years of books to read, including all those $1 supersize books in Superman Family.
2. Buy the loose ends
A bunch of stuff is almost done. I need 2 issues of Boy Comics to have a complete run, 2 issues of Lois Lane to have #43-up, 2 issues of Hero for Hire to have #1-26, 5 issues of Kull to have a complete run of all three volumes, and 8 issues of Conan the Barbarian to have #14-up. I want to sock these away so I can move on to other collecting goals.
3. Keep working on Jughead, Archie, Pep, and Life with Archie
Jughead and Life with Archie runs are complete back to about 1969 at this point. I'd like to get Pep and Archie into the same position. There are just so many of them! And I am too cheap to pay more than a buck or two each. EDIT: I took a look at my checklist and realized my Jughead run is complete back to 1966. I only need 16 issues to have #99-up, which would be complete back to 1963. That's my goal for this year - get those 16 issues done.
That's it. Those are my goals for the year.

This is all about purchasing: As of 2017: no more monthly floppies from DC/Marvel. Most everything they do anymore is mediocre or gets cancelled within 6-12 issues so easier to browse/check them out at a comic shop and it if looks interesting enough then can buy them later in TPB. My monthly fixation shall be Archie comics and the IDW Disney's. Other monthly fix shall be IDW Rom and Micronauts. Still maintain my monthly Elfquest and Usagi Yojimbo and each new TPB collection as ships. Focus on finishing getting up to date in collected TPB Usagi Yojimbo and Judge Dredd Case Files. Try to finish out back issues of Marvel's Rom: need 19 to go. Continue seeking out odds and ends back issues cheaply: DC Warlord, Nu 52 Swamp Thing, Nu 52 Phantom Stranger and any of the old Marvel/DC Westerns and War comics. Finish out purchasing the Yugi-Oh and Onepiece and Shaman King manga editions (have over half of each series). Reading wise i remain eclectic as i will pick up and read different things depending on what i have an urge for. Always have a bronze-age Marvel or DC ongoing and then independents as mood strikes me as each day i read at least 1-2 comics or stories (usually more once i get sucked into a story line)

I don't really have any specific goals comic-reading or buying-wise. But in the past year I've gotten more interested in original art and convention sketches. I've gotten a few pieces over the last couple of years, and it's sort of an addictive side-hobby next to comics proper. I hope to add a few more pieces in the next year, and get them framed up for display. I have wall in my office right above my trades, statues, and action figures that I plan to dedicate to my art collection, so hopefully in the next year I'll have enough pieces to put together a decent display.

For 2017 I am aming to buy no physcal comics! It's probably easier said than done, but I just don't have the space anymore... ...might add a few hundred next year but also sell a few hundred... Did you say sell? Cough... Splutter... sell comics?!!! Oh no, I don't be doing any of that. I'm a hoarder, if I think enough to buy it, I keep it. (Which might explain why I don't have much more room for long boxes!) I'll sell the land before I part with any of my collection!

In 2017 I resolve to have as much fun as possible with comics and with my friends in fandom.

Did you say sell? Cough... Splutter... sell comics?!!! Yep! As well as being a reader and collector, I also dabble in retail. Reselling books (and making a nice mark-up if it's a hot book) helps pay for new books. Like selling a book that cost $12 for $100 and using the $88 profit on new books I get at cost price (not cover). But that's another story...

I do the same...I do not get the allure of variant covers. Granted, some are amazingly well done and if I were not such a lover of older stuff, I would probably keep them. At the end of the day, my life goal is to amass as much of the stuff from 1965-1985 from my favourite heroes.

If all goes as planned, which it should, my biggest goal should finally get done for the first time in my life :
Completely cataloging and organizing my collection.
This may sound ridiculous to some of you, and I've gotten started on it before, but for a myriad of reasons, it's never been completely done.
Also, giving up my storage unit this year forced me to cram them in the attic where they're completely unobtainable. My unit also had earthquakes which shook things down, some of which I had to pitch.
If I'm lucky, I'll also take some classes on how to get the most out of Photoshop. There's some really cool comics stuff I want to do but can't at my very basic skill level.

My main goal is to downsize my collection by at least 50%. As for purcahsing, other than Absolute Transmet, The Goon LEs, and the TPBs of Ostrander's Suicide Squad and NTT I think I'm going to try to stick to just Marvel's Epic line (collections, not the imprint) in 2017.
I never have any luck with reading goals, so why not be ridiculous. I plan to read every Marvel Epic except the three I don't collect (Daredevil, Iron Man and Star Wars).

I've always heard that new year resolutions, in order to be maintained throughout the year, have to be reasonable, obtainable goals.
With that in mind, I resolve to continue reading the comics that I find enjoyable and entertaining, to check out those titles that appear interesting to me and see if they can meet the first criteria, and to collect that to which I am inspired about at that moment in time.

I'm always cataloging my comics but I have many random books that are being bought and given away. I've resolved myself to keep up to date on the books that I definitely want to keep.

it's tough being an addict True but it's the best addiction possible. No one is stealing from their mother to buy the latest Star wars comic.
