I've ignored pre-Miller DD and focused on long runs (at least a year). I hope I didn't overlook any.

This is probably the only Bendis I don't hate.
Not only do I not hate it, he actually does really, really well with DD, so why does he do so horrible with capes ?
I've liked every version listed here except for the Chicester run, of which I've read very little and hated it thoroughly, esp that fugly costume.
Haven't read Soule / Garney but I'm sure I will later on.
Voted Miller / Janson cause that run is one of my all-time favorites of anything let alone DD.

My votes would have been different if you had included pre-Miller DD teams. Any particular reason aside from personal preference you didn't include them? It just feels this is more appropriate for the modern comics section than classic if you are ignoring them, as half your list don't qualify as classics by our definition here on the forums.

I read all pre-Miller stuff last year, and it was a real drag. Including older stuff would distort the results about the time period which interests me, because I can imagine most people voting for the earlier issues. In the poll about this subject, 57% of the voters, opted for "10 years". 5 out of the 8 options given are older than that, so more than half qualifies, so it belongs in the classic section.

For me it's Kesel/Kord though it was short lived.

Never really been a fan of the character. In fact, DD's one of only two series I'm not collecting (the other is Iron Man). That said, I think Said/Samnee is the only run I've read for more than a couple issues. Didn't like it, but I finished the first run (before the move).

For me it's Kesel/Kord though it was short lived. I LOVED the Karl Kesel/Cary Nord run. The Joe Kelly/Gene Colan run that followed was decent.
As far as the poll:
I liked Miller's run. I liked Waid's run. I also liked the two arcs Joe Quesada drew with Kevin Smith & David Mack. I was not a fan of Bendis' run. In fact I never liked the grim & gritty DD except for Miller's version.

I've heard it was good.
Cary Nord went on to do some really nice work on both Conan and X-O Manowar.
Karl Kesel is old school in a good way. I loved his work ok Superboy back in the 90's and heard his DD was really good too.

Kesel did some fill in issues on FF that were amazing. I was baffled that Marvel never gave him the book to write for a lengthy run. IMO he was perfect for FF.

My top two are easily Miller's run followed by Bendis. After that it's murky. I generally thought Nocenti's run was just OK, but the tail end of her gets a lot of points from me because of Lee Weeks' art. The Brubaker/Lark run was entertaining, but I felt that it benefited a lot from Bendis setting up a lot of the pieces on the board beforehand. I really enjoyed the Waid run as a whole, but felt that the first volume (of which Samnee penciled only in part) was stronger than the second. Soule's run has been mixed for me thus far. I like the idea of Matt working at the D.A.'s office, and no longer being his own boss (and thus accountable for absences and screw-ups), as well as having a protege. I'm not a fan of the new suit, and the artwork doesn't really work for me -- feels a little too monochromatic. I'm sticking with it because I want to know what Matt did to get his secret ID back, as well as what happened with Kirsten. From the last solicits it sounds like something to do with the Purple Man.

I'll Take Gil Kane & Jim Shooter, Marv Wolfman & Bob Brown, and Stan Lee & Gene Colan. Lee and Colan presented a fantastic swashbuckling Daredevil, with some of the best action in comics, at the time. They got goofy; but, it was fun goofy. Wolfman and Brown had a great run, which introduced Bullseye, among other things and characters. Kane and Shooter, who co-plotted, while Kane did some of the art, had a terrific run, with DD's battles with the Purple Man, who framed Heather Glenn's father fro corruption, kidnapping, and other charges. It was darker stuff, well before Miller. Miller's Daredevil is good (great, even); but, I don't find it to be the end-all, be-all of the character. Much like Batman, I liked a lot of the character, before he was so serious. I find that I enjoy both ends of the spectrum, when it comes to interpreting the character.

For me it's Kesel/Kord though it was short lived. That's why it wasn't included. There were just too many short lived teams, in the 90's, so I left all of them out. The most notable example of a creative team that didn't stay long, would be Miller-Mazzucchelli.

I read Brubaker in a trade with a friend for unwanted GL comics I had, but I don't remember it really wowing me. That could be me just not being a solo DD fan.
