Number 1 - SupermanAlter Ego - Clark Kent Team Affiliations - Justice League of America, Superman Family, and Legion of Super Heroes Created by - Writer Jerry Siegel and Artist Joe Shuster Abilities Superhuman strength, speed, hearing, longevity, stamina, and intelligence, Invulnerability Heat Vision, Flight, Freezing breath, Multiple extrasensory and vision powers not limited to but including X-ray vision, Healing factor, and other powers as well. Interesting Fact - Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, then students at Cleveland's Glenville High School, first conceived Superman as a bald telepathic villain bent on world domination. The character first appeared in "The Reign of the Superman", a short story from Science Fiction: The Advance Guard of Future Civilization #3, a fanzine published by Siegel in 1933. Interesting Fact 2 - Jerry Siegel re-envisioned the character later that year as a hero bearing no resemblance to his villainous namesake, with Shuster visually modeling Superman on Douglas Fairbanks Sr. and his bespectacled alter ego, Clark Kent, on a combination of Harold Lloyd and Shuster himself, with the name "Clark Kent" derived from movie stars Clark Gable and Kent Taylor. Reason for Rank: Most Spectacular Superhero of all time - DC COMICS Supreme Character and rightly so, he is without a doubt the best of the best of DC COMICS has to offer and has powers and ability far beyond of mortal man. He embodied the American Way, that fight for truth and justice for all mankind. I just can't think of any DC COMICS character can't unseat the Man of Steel. There is nobody, I've mean nobody can replace him ever. So, he's Number 1 in my book and forevermore!

And they all lived happily ever after! #9 FLASH (BARRY ALLEN) Would he make my Top 50? YES! He's solidly in the Top 10 and is my favorite Flash of all time. I rank Wally one spot below him. #8 SUPERGIRL (SUPERMAN COUSIN VERSION) Would she make my Top 50? YES. Two ladies down and one to go. The Silver Age is my favorite era, but the Cosmic Adventures in the 8th Grade mini series is a must read. #7 BLACK CANARY Would she make my Top 50? NO. I do like her more now that when I was a kid. I enjoyed her years in the Birds of Prey with Oracle. #6 DR. FATE (KENT NELSON) Would he make my Top 50? YES! He's in my Top 10 and is my favorite mystic super hero of all time. I'm a little surprised he wasn't #1 in this list. #5 CAPTAIN MARVEL (THE ONLY VERSION!) Would he make my Top 50? YES! And he might just be #5 too. While they keep waiting to try to get him right in the regular DCU, Jeff Smith and Mike Kunkel did excellent versions of him elsewhere. #4 WONDER WOMAN Would she make my Top 50? YES. All three ladies are now mentioned and Diana is my all time favorite super heroine. The Lynda Carter version is my favorite as well. #3 BATMAN Would he make my Top 50? YES! He's #2. It's his versatility that I love about him. He has versions that range from kids cartoons to dark gritty live action movies and every flavor of comic book in between. #2 GREEN LANTERN (HAL JORDAN) Would he make my Top 50? He's on the cut line. John Stewart is my favorite Green Lantern. My favorite era of Green Lantern comics is the recently concluded one by Geoff Johns. #1 SUPERMAN Would he make.... oh please he's #1! He's been #1 literally every second of my life that I've seen super heroes. He can retire the trophy, he will never be surpassed. I see a lot of members of my favorite two DC teams the JLA and JSA, but no one from my third favorite team The Legion. i think that would be a major difference between our two lists.

I'm not sure Superman would be in my top fifty. Of your top ten only Batman and very likely Fate would make my top ten. Regardless, I really enjoyed reading this and look forward to your Marvel list.
Just out of curiosity, if you had included villains how many would've made your top fifty and who would've been highest?

Just out of curiosity, if you had included villains how many would've made your top fifty and who would've been highest? For the Villains about 15-20 would made the list of the top 50 Characters ... My highest Villain would be the Clown Prince of Crime - The Joker, followed by Lex Luthor 2nd, Black Manta 3rd, and Captain Cold 4th. Those four would be in that order. Evil Star, Cheetah, Gorilla Grodd, Vandal Savage, and several others would made the list too. It would be even more difficult with Villains involved - but I have to give this list more serious thought because they are very difficult to gauge because of the broader picture involved.
