Based on the opinions on this thread,I'll put Testament on the back burner for awile and come up with an alternative.I have some time.Currently I'm reading Terry Moore's Echo.Fantastic,I'm a third of the way thru it's 30 issues and completely entralled.Big fan of the current Rachel Rising and Echo is just as good.A SF oriented story about a young lady on the run from the government after getting exposed to the fallout of a secret experiment. This fallout has endowed her with a destructive ability.A madman killer also stalks her with the same ability. Terry Moore weaves the tale with good characterization and clean art.Reccommended Have you read Strangers In Paradise?

I think I've read the first five or six TPB's but I now own the complete set in omnibus. I can't wait to flip through it. It's a good series. I haven't read a ton of Terry Moore stuff. I have either read a first issue or a think TPB or Rachel Rising and the few volumes of SiP, but I've liked it all. Plan to get Rachel Rising after I've caught up with SiP.

A friend of mine has requested opinions on Fables having only read issues 1 & 2... Great series. The first story arc is actually the weakest until after issue 75, when things change quite a bit. There's a slump around then, but it's recovered over the past two years. Highly recommended.
The first two years of Jack are good, too, as are the Cinderella minis.

Fables #1-75 is very good. It all comes together to form one giant epic. I personally wouldn't bother with anything after #75. Ranges from okay to... not okay.
Only Jack of Fables stuff I have read is the crossover with Fables that took place after the end of the main Fables epic. And that was by far the worst Fables story, hands down. So maybe the rest of the series is better, but based on my small experience with it, I wouldn't recommend reading it.

I pretty well agree with Fanboy. Fables 1-75 is excellent. After that it's not and miss, but generally worth reading. Jack of Fables was good for the first year or two but then went right into the crapper.

That's actually when I decided to stop reading the book monthly. Jack never recovered from it, too.
The first two years of Jack are really fun in a self-referential way. Not as good as the main book, but worth checking out.

Same here. I think Fable 1-75 is great, after 75 it's still really good! Jack of Fable, the first trade is really good, then it's really disappointing for the next 4 tpb...

Nice to see the Fables love. I do have a couple things to add: -- 'Storybook Love' has been known to offend people sometimes. If you're friend is the sort to get offended by stuff, you might want to spoil it for him/her, at least to the extent that everything works out in the end -- The first couple 'Jack' arcs are actually quite good, and include some really fun fables you don't see anywhere else. It does indeed become dreck, though. The 'great fables Crossover' is not only horrible, but completely skippable... other than the next issue Bigby saying something like 'it's been a busy couple days', it's never mentioned again. -- After issue 75, it gets a bit weird. Willingham messes with the time line some, too. 'Cubs in Toyland' is an great arc, and the current one is setting up to be a brilliant conclusion tot he series. The 2nd big uber bad guy, Mr. Dark, is pretty blah. There is some great character development hidden within some medicore stories though. If you like light fair, the Bufkin stuff is hilarious, though really had no bearing on anything else. -- the first arc in 'Fairest' is practically an epilogue to the #75... I'd almost read it right after. It's also really good. The rest of the series has been pretty meh. Though there's a one shot with Beauty and the Beast that's pretty crazy (in a good way)

I love the Fables universe. I've slacked off on keeping up with the tpb's lately. I've had the Fairest HC for months now and the last Fables tpb and haven't read them. I know it's coming to an end soon, maybe with #150.

Anyone here tried Wasteland by Antony Johnson and Christopher Mitten (currently doing Umbral for Image). I sort of liked Umbral but decided to trade wait instead of buy monthly, but I have a chance to grab the first volume of Wasteland on the cheap, but am a bit hesitant. Anyone have an opinion on it one way or another. It's post-apocalyptic sci-fi, a genre I can take or leave, I like quality stuff done in the genre, but the genre itself is not the appeal.

I've read the first 30+ issues of Wasteland. It's awesome. Around issue 30 the artist changes and it dips a bit in quality, but the same writer and the story is great. And the new art isn't bad either. The world created is fantastic. Post apocalyptic mystery adventure. I'd say the world is somewhat similar to Beyond Thunderdome but the story is more drama and intrigue and less action.
