Is it wrong that I'm more interested in the reel-to-reel tape machine in your hi-fi set up? What is it and what's the story behind it? my spouse was the sound engineer for several bands back in the 80s and is still very interested in all that stuff (we have several of those in different cabinets around the house - all still work, and he listens to stuff on them).
next time we do a zoom, remind me, and I'll ask him to pop onscreen to talk about it!

it's only 6 episodes, right? It's 9 episodes. On the first Friday, 2 episodes premiered. So through this past Friday, 4 episodes have been released.

I'm always curious about other folks involved in the music industry due to my dad's time working around it. He spent 17 years as the popular music critic for the (formerly) biggest newspaper here in Pittsburgh, so he met and talked to a lot of people as well as going to 100s of concerts over his tenure.

Well that was an interesting reveal at the end of episode 5 this show keeps getting better and better!

The big reveal at the end seems to really have people buzzing... My daughter's college friends (who are definitely not especially into comics other than the MCU, stayed up until 3 AM to watch it immediately (We watched at a more reasonable hour at lunchtime, since it's my day off).. so that seems pretty positive.
I suspect this is all leading to some sort of big, crazy multiversal thing, which could be really fun, or a horror show. Time will tell.

The ending of today's episode was really good. If you're reading this and haven't watched yet, I suggest you avoid all spoilers & watch as soon as you get the chance.

I suspect this is all leading to some sort of big, crazy multiversal thing, which could be really fun, or a horror show. Time will tell. Seeing as the title of the next Dr. Strange movie is "Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness" and Elizabeth Olsen is going to be part of it, you can pretty much count on the first part happening. There are all kinds of reports floating around about the stars of the previous Spider-Man series showing up in that movie, and Dr. Strange is going to appear in the third Spider-Man movie as well, which... {Spoiler: Click to show}...is leading to rumors that Disney/Marvel may be doing something where they make EVERY movie with Marvel characters canon. They have been in contact with Jessica Alba and Chris Evans to potentially reprise their FF roles in DS2. Based on the end of Episode 5 I'm assuming this means mutants are coming to the MCU in the very near future, with this "recast" of Pietro being the first crack in the walls of the multiverse that Wanda eventually breaks and Dr. Strange has to put back together. I'm also very intrigued by... {Spoiler: Click to show} Why Monica got testy and dismissive by the mention of Captain Marvel's name.

I'm pretty sure this is not an original theory but I would not be surprised if the long-game set-up for the next few years is for an adaptation of Avengers Vs. X-Men, but with Wanda instead of the Phoenix Force/Jean Grey/Hope Summers as the source of conflict. Fox has already done two adaptations of the Dark Phoenix saga, both of which have been huge disappointments (especially considering how beloved the original comic story is). I'm thinking that they are going to stop drawing from the Phoenix well for a while. Meanwhile, we already have hints of an overpowered, mentally unstable mutant in Wanda.
It would be fairly easy to replace Phoenix/Jean/Hope with Wanda. You introduce mutants into the MCU, perhaps due in part to her actions. Later on, conflict brews between the Avengers, who are established, trusted heroes, and the untrusted X-Men, who are total wild cards to the general public. They come for Wanda at some point, and the X-Men, who literally owe their existence to her, rally to her defense.
By the way -- is it just me, or is this show totally vindicating Disney's decision to release their episodes weekly instead of dropping them all at once? Don't get me wrong -- I still wish they were doing the latter because I like to be able to watch several episodes at time. But I feel like this show is really benefiting from the buzz and tension that's building up over the course of its release.

For sure! I think they already managed that with the Mandalorian, though. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the other services start following suit. I can see a day in the future where there's a 'netflix drop day' like new comic book day

Amazing episode this show keeps getting better and better! {Spoiler: All-New Halloween Spooktacular }Wanda: "Why... Do you look different?"
Pietro: "You tell me. I mean, if I found Shangri-La, I wouldn't want to be reminded of the past either."
Hmmmmm...
The Yo-Magic commercial is the only one so far that wasn't references to Wanda's past. Instead maybe foreshadowing explanations to come?
Neat the theatre marquee was showing The Incredibles!
Mini Wiccan and Speed! Great ending that was wild!

Finally caught up on episodes 4 and 5 last night, and I won't be able to watch today's episode for another two weeks. Mostly agreed with all that's already been said, especially the whole House of M style multiverse explosion coming.
Here are a few points I haven't seen raised:
1. Are they going to keep moving up one decade each episode? The 50's thru 80's was the height of family sitcoms. To keep going beyond that, they'll either have to be ultra specific in their homages (Simpsons style episode? PLEASE???) or break from the format.
2. Wanda was never called "Scarlet Witch" in the MCU? Was Pietro ever called "Quicksilver"?
3. Is Wanda somehow tapping into the Infinity Gems? How else is she powering Vision, as well as controlling reality around her? Pretty sure we saw a glimpse of the mind stone in the mid-season trailer...
4. If Monica isn't pleased with Captain Marvel right now (I'm willing to bet the cancer that caused her mom's death came from her space mission in the Captain Marvel movie or something...Dear God, what if we get a Death of Captain Marvel story with Maria Rambeau as that Captain Marvel in CM2??), then who is the aerospace engineer friend she alluded to?
5. What's up with the aging kids?
6. Who is the person in witness protection that the FBI originally came to Westfield to find?
7. Is there someone else behind all of this? Episode 5 seemed to establish that Wanda didn't consciously do this at first. Perhaps she is being manipulated.

#1 -- If they do a Simpsons-style couch gag I will be all over it.
#4 -- I'm going to go out on a limb here... perhaps the aerospace engineer friend is Reed Richards? It would make sense if they are setting up the FF mission to space. By the way... did anyone else think that the Inspiration 4 ad during the Super Bowl was a stealth MCU ad?
#7 -- To continue my theory that Wanda is a Dark Phoenix replacement, I think it's almost certain that someone is manipulating her a la Mastermind and the Hellfire Club.

I doubt it but I'd be thrilled if they went that route. I just don't see Reed as being primarily known for aerospace research. Maybe Ben Grimm?
