What's the deal with that elephant character that I keep seeing associated with the Moonknight streaming series? What comic did it debut in ?
Probably just a cameo appearance of some French-speaking elephant who thinks he's king, or something...  You know these MCU shows... always dropping easter eggs and teasers to drive the speculator crowd crazy.

I think they're about to fold Baby Snoots into the MCU and prices are going to go crazy on those books... I'm starting the rumor here and NOW.
DC needs something to get their movies to resonate with audiences...maybe they should be utilizing Snoots but give him a dark and brooding past, causing him to despise Batman for some reason. At the very least this scene could come to fruition...  |

I have to say that my biggest disappointment with Multiverse of Madness is that it didn't give us enough upcoming franchises to start speculating about. I'd expected to have a boom of back issues that were suddenly hot and could be taken to ebay for a quick turn-around, but as I don't have America Chavez's first appearance, there really isn't much else worth flipping at this point. No one's going overly crazy about She-Hulk #1 or the first appearance of Monica Rambeau, so (for the first time in over a year) I have NOTHING to sell on ebay. Real bummer, especially as I have an expensive wedding coming up.

This was posted today by the owner of Bookery Fantasy, a long time comic dealer (open since the early 80s) whose shop recently dropped new comics but still operates as aback issue, pulp, collectibles store and one of the biggest buyers of collections in the area...
I think there is going to be a lot of disappointed sellers in the coming months and a lot of speculators who held too long or got in too late who may be taking a bath in the 2nd half of 2022 and into 2023. The market correction has been ongoing for much of the last 6 months, but t think the bubble as a whole is reaching its nadir. I don't think prices will ever go back to where they were pre-pandemic, as many of the books really were undervalued at that point, but I think the massive surges and inflated highs are going to soon be a thing of the past, and a lot of books will find their actual value in a more stable marketplace after a period of chaos because of the correction and downturn. But if you're buying in this period, I'd be prepared to be dealing with a lot of bitter, bitchy, delusional sellers who will be in denial and unwilling to accept the new reality or to adjust their asks and take out their frustrations on potential buyers.
I just hope that those sellers leaving the game doesn't result in a lot of books being taken out of the game affecting the supply/demand relationship unnaturally.

For collectors, a bear market is a real opportunity if you've played your cards right. For fast-buck speculators, not so much. It's easy to make money in a bull market, but a bear market tends to clear out most of the suckers and re-level the playing field, and, as you noted, stabilize more realistic market values that aren't necessarily driven by trend influencers and FOMO.
I've taken advantage of bear markets in the hobby many times, all the way back to the B&W indy bust. I've found that embittered sellers may hang on to stuff for a while, but as the demand continues to slide, the smart ones will cut their losses and get out while they can rather than wait on the next cycle. This particularly applies to those speculator/sellers that have no sentimental attachment to the hobby itself, but instead just look for easy opportunities to flip "hot" items quickly. This principle applies to most collectible markets, whether it's comics, stamps, sports cards, coins or something else.
And yes, I agree 100% about market corrections-- don't expect to buy a Hulk #181 for $250... the market slide will bring market value corrections, not insane liquidations.

I've definitely noticed a slight downturn in prices being asked for vintage vinyl on eBay of late, as the cost of living crisis continues. It's especially noticeable on collectible first edition pressings by the biggest 60s and 70s names (Beatles, Stones, Floyd, Dylan, Bowie etc). So, I wouldn't be surprised to find the same thing happening in the comic book market for vintage key issues. Anyone noticed any movement downwards on keys on eBay in recent weeks?
