I'm really happy here. I've posted pretty regularly since I found my way back here 3 months ago or so. I think in many ways that the forum that shaxper and others have created here is superior to the old CBR forum.

I think in many ways that the forum that shaxper and others have created here is superior to the old CBR forum. Emphasis on the "and others". I too miss aspets of the old place (and especially not having any responsibility) but generally love this place so much more, and there are so many people I am indebted to for making this place a reality, from our tireless staff, to those who have assisted with the look of the site, the front page, and the social media outreach, to those of you who make this place what it is, whether through knowledgeable threads and posts, a warm welcoming attirude, playful banter, or even giving a thumbs up to a post someone worked hard on. Thanks to all of YOU for making this place what it is.

giving a thumbs up to a post someone worked hard on. Which I've only just recently realized is an option. As an inveterate FB user of late, I like it.

Kind of my new favorite thing as I rarely have the time/energy to compliment every awesome post I see. And I see what you did there

I'm far happier here than in that stifling, joyless zombie of CBRs former self.

I love this board. I don't post nearly as often as many of you but I am on here daily reading stuff and enjoying myself. I do still look at CBR as well. Not much has really changed. People are still trolling and making endless posts about DC vs. Marvel, being super angry about X being married/not married or wearing their underpants on the outside or not. The general tone tends to be kind of negative. I enjoy reading this board because the tone tends to be postive. People voice their opinions on not liking this or that but trolls and mean spirited s--t are not tolerated here which I really appreciate.

I don't miss CBR one bit. What we have here is better. The end.

I love this group! CBR is a mess, too much there, not easily organized.
Two things that would make this place better....more people and maybe a more specific Marvel Media forum (there is one for DC, why not Marvel....or am I missing it???)

The DC-specific section is to make the transition for our HoJ pals easier. Or so I assume.

Has it only been six months? Seems like so long ago. I haven't checked back in since my last ban. I've been banned twice from there since their new policies. Before that I had never been banned from any internet forum ever. The first ban was because someone claimed it was easy to be as ripped as Wolverine and any kid could do it after lifting weights for a short while, and I replied by saying I personally know someone who squats nearly 600lbs and cycles four kinds of steroids who is not as ripped as a comic book Wolverine.
The second one was because I said Dixon should grow up in response to his whining that the comic book industry has blacklisted him for being conservative.

Two things that would make this place better....more people I'm not so sure I want this place to get much bigger. If it does, so be it, but I think we have a good sized group here and plenty of conversation. Too much more might make it impersonal and would likely make it impossible for folks to stay current on all the discussion threads (there's so much activity here compared to the old place). We've done quite a bit of promoting outside of the site to bring new folks here, just to ensure that we get a new fresh face or two from time to time. Beyond that, if we wanted to increase our numbers significantly, it would likely require paid advertising. While CBR costs a significant amount of money to maintain and, thus, is chock filled with ads and promotional materials, the CCF is free and (that one proboards ad at the top aside) beholden to no advertisers. I've been thinking about this for a long while now. We have the DC one because that came from our merger with the Hall of Justice (and it's a damn fine one to boot!), and that does present a sort of imbalance, but creating a similar Marvel section presents two problems: 1. It might seem like its intended to complete with the HOJ or, worse, it might create rivalries 2. We'd need people as dedicated as the HOJers to staff it. Without vigilance, a section devoted to new comics and media (especially one brand over the other) could easily invite a lot of trolling without the right persistent guidance. And, then, what about non-Marvel, non-DC new comics? I don't see a good solution to this, but am definitely open to suggestions.

And, to take the dilemma one step further, let's say we successfully launch an Avengers HQ for discussing current Marvel media and a successful Independent publisher section as well, and they all attract a lot of attention. We then risk losing the very focus that this community began with. Three vibrant sections for discussing the new as compared to one for discussing the old.

I favor organic rather than artificial expansion. The Hall of Justice forum made sense given circumstances. If a need arises for a Marvel forum, make one.
In the absence of said need, don't.
The reason you separated out the community forum is the right one. Classics comics talk was being pushed off the front page in its own forum. Now it's not. When we get a bazillion threads talking about the latest Marvel comics, you'll know what to do.
