Yeah, that was my impression, though I hope for a bit more Dan Slott than John Byrne (just a personal preference for comedic takes on the character) in the approach to things. Hard to tell exactly there, as I see elements of both.
Nice to see Tim Roth return and the Abomination actually look something like he is supposed to, rather than like a Zygon, in Doctor Who.
My question is, will we get Andy the Awesome Android? Is the law firm still Goodman, Lieber, Kurtzburg and Holloway? I didn't see a sign pass by the screen. Best idea for a fictional law firm, ever!
I am most curious for the Fantastic Four movie, down the road. Can they finally get it right?
Hope they consulted with Brad Bird, because he got it.

Really enjoyed the first episode. It was a fun viewing experience that did some character work for both Bruce and Jen.

Did the usual watch party with my girls last night. Reviews in the household were mixed. My wife seemed lukewarm on it, while both of my daughters declared Jen to be a “girl boss”, indicating they loved it.
From my standpoint, it was fine. Didn’t mind the tweaks they made to Shulkie’s origin, and I thought the interplay between her and Bruce was great. I really felt for Bruce when he started talking about Tony and Steve. Didn’t like some of the language, which is becoming more commonplace in the MCU and probably something I’m just going to have to get used to; it comes off as crass for shock value, rather than something organic to the characters.
We’ll keep watching it, to be sure, but I can’t see it surpassing either Hawkeye or FatWS (or maybe even Ms Marvel) on my list of top D+ shows, but I could be pleasantly proven wrong.

For me, as a fan of the Slott run, the first episode was everything I was hoping for. The comedy was great and the character moments came across really strong as well.

Unlike Moon Knight, this series may get me to watch more than two hours!
Since nothing actually happened in the first episode, its success hanged on how interesting and likeable the main character would be. This Jennifer Walters is not one I really recognize from the comics, but I actually like her better -she's a little more human, a little less comic-booky. Great casting and writing!
Bruce Banner also got a lot of character development in that episode. That was a welcome bonus.

That was REALLY enjoyable. They absolutely spoiled the best parts in the second trailer, but it still worked really well. I agree with the concern that we really have no idea what the plot nor central conflict are going to be yet, but the character is definitely winning me over. Still not finding the CG realistic enough, but I can tolerate that if everything else is working well.

Two episodes in and I am enjoying the characters; but, the comedy feels a bit forced, to me. They seem to want laughs that they are not earning, apart from some of the character stuff. Hopefully, they will get more story in this, to help drive things; but, I'm just kind of okay with it. It entertains while it is on, but I never really laugh out loud, nor am I that intrigued.
I did find it odd that they introduced the law firm, Goodman, Lieber, Kurtzberg and Holdaway, in episode 2, but only refer to its initials. Even in the offices, you only see the initials. If you are going to have an inside joke like that, put it on display!
I will say, if you want to complain about legal procedure in comics or tv, then you will get your fill, here.
The CGI, though, really doesn't integrate well. She-Hulk is so obvious not in the same setting as the live actors that they might as well have matte lines around her form. It's not distracting, but, you do tend to notice the artifice.

We found the comedy laugh-out-loud funny, for what it's worth. From the bathroom map, to Blonsky's reinvented new age persona, to "Captain America Fu-----!", I thought it was a riot. I'm with you on this. Very distracting. I think my main concern right now is that there isn't enough of a plot yet. We're almost 1/4th into the series, and I still don't really know what it's about beyond Jen trying to reconcile her new professional life as a public superhero/attorney.

You know, I've always had the impression that the number of super-beings in the MCU, compared to its comics counterpart, was practically negligible and usually the supervillains (if captured alive) were made to "disappear" without going through official channels, trials or anything else. I wonder if there was really enough work for a one-city-based super law firm

I haven't watched this show or the last 3 or so shows involving the MCU. Since they took Iron man and Cap off the table and made Thor a joke, I don't care as much.
