Well, whadayya know!? I actually managed to post this thread before the vernal equinox! Amazing what you can accomplish by staying healthy through the holidays! All kidding aside, I had a great time with this year's event and from here it looks like you all did, too. Now, before I post everyone's lists, what say we dive into some statistics, 'ey wot?
23 participants cast 273 votes for 227 super-villain teams or pairings (three votes were disqualified for not meeting the challenge's criteria but will nonetheless appear in the voter's list). There was quite a bit more duplication than in past years, but baddies originating in comics published outside America's borders did noticeably better, particularly those from Britain, Japan, Belgium, and France. Another interesting item of note is that a couple of participants restricted their choices to a single publisher's output, with foxley posting an all-DC roster and Rob Allen favoring Marvel's nefarious nogoodniks.
Taking the gold medal this year with 7 votes were a certain webhead's arch-foes The Sinister Six. There was a three-way tie for second place with The Fatal Five, the original Frightful Four, and the “Under Siege” incarnation of The Masters of Evil claiming 6 votes apiece. (Note that had supercat not specified the version with Electro as a member, The Wizard's band of merry menaces would've tied for first.) Taking the broze with 5 votes was The Suicide Squad. The Sinister Six also landed in the #1 position on three folks' lists, while the original Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, The Legion of Doom, and The Suicide Squad garnered 2 top votes each.
Here are the rest of the results.
4 votes: The Brotherhood of Evil (Drake/Premiani version); The Crime Syndicate of America (Fox/Sekowsky version); The Dark Judges
3 votes: The Angel Gang; The Beagle Boys; The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants (Claremont/Byrne version); The Circus of Crime; The Enforcers; Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy; The Injustice Society of the World (original version); The Secret Society of Super-Villains (Ultra-Humanite version)
2 votes: The Absorbing Man and Titania; The Ani-Men; Baron Mordo and Dormammu; Batman villains (from Detective Comics #526); The Black Widow and Hawkeye; The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants (Lee/Kirby version); The Daredevil Revenge Squad; Doctor Doom and The Sub-Mariner; Doctor Doom's army of villains (from FF Annual #3); The Fearsome Five; Flash's Rogues; The Gas Gang; The Headmen; The House of Tagge; The Legion of Doom; The Legion of the Unliving (Englehart/Buscema/Cockrum version); The Lethal Legion (Shooter/Byrne version); The Mad Thinker and The Puppet Master; The Marauders; The Masters of Evil (Lee/Kirby version); The Masters of Evil (Thomas/Buscema version); Mr. Mxyzptlk and Bat-Mite; The Mud Pack; The Royal Flush Gang (Fox/Sekowsky version); The Serpent Society; The Super-Villain Baseball Team (from DC Super-Stars #10); The Terrible Trio (Batman foes); The Thunderbolts; The Zodiac (Kraft/Giffen version); The Zodiac (Thomas/Buscema version)
1 vote: Everybody else!
