I can't believe Grover didn't spring to mind right away with Ultra comics... great call!!!! Ok, so Thor is just trolling at this point... you put 'Who is Thor?' on the cover and then not say? Marvel's been doing that alot lately (there were at least 3, maybe 4 X-Men comics claiming to be the 'Last Will and Testament of Xavier')... I understand about covers, but don't tease something people are looking forward to and fail to deliver. Superior Iron Man is officially dumb...Tony trying to take over, I guess Fox, because he knows he's evil and he needs propaganda? Why not just make his own, as he's always done? Makes NO SENSE AT ALL. Also, last we saw, Resilient was a pretty small company, and not that much time has passed... Pepper should be able to pull the rug out from under him.. not to mention there's no way Tony wouldn't have seen it coming. This on top of the ridiculous Happy Hogan thing really has me annoyed.. and that's giving them the fact that super-slick and clever evil Tony would let Pepper outfox him that easily. Still not sure about Miguel O'Hara vs Maestro... seems like mostly a PAD vanity project. Really, is he saying Spiderman 2099 is better than all the regular 616 heroes combined? (who, as we know. LOST to Maestro). Super sad Strange was a fake, too.. I liked her, and it'd have been nice to get her back. Not a great batch this evening

What should I be reading from Marvel right now? The only thing I'm reading current is from DC. I'm getting ready for Darkseid War because I love Jason Fabok's work, I'm reading Wonder Woman because of David Finch (although it seems his work has suffered in recent times), and I'm catching up on Scott Snyder's Batman run. Haven't read anything Marvel in forever. At least current Marvel. I'm thinking about getting on the New Avengers that will be released on Free Comic Book day. Anything else at Marvel that is getting a lot of buzz? Daredevil (Mark Waid/Chris Samnee) Hawkeye (the Fraction/Aja et al series that's just about to finish up any minute now) She -Hulk (current volume just finished, available in two tpbs) Moon Knight (the Warren Ellis tpb) Silver Surfer (Dan Slott/Mike Allred having FUN with the Marvel Universe's mopiest character!) Miles Morales Ultimate Spider-Man whatever the freakin' book's called this year If you're into huge epic plotlines, Hickman's Avengers/New Avengers is about to wrap up leading into Secret Wars

Has anyone been reading Hulk? Is it any good? Meh. The She-Hulk series that just finished was a lot of fun, though.

Three appearances may not be much, in the scope of all things Marvel, but the fact is that Morlun was originally intended as a one-stand character, and he only worked in that context. I'm not sure that I agree with your assessment that Morlun "only worked" as a one-stand character, but regardless of that, I think you'd have to concede that he was a particularly memorable one, when compared to other Spider-Man villains who first appeared in the 21st century. With that as a given, Marvel were inevitably going to reuse him, I suppose. My point is that it's kinda surprising -- and also kinda good -- that they haven't used him more than they have.

Absolutely, a tad overplayed if you want, but it conveyed the sense of doom, JMS was aiming for.

New comics: Interesting to see that Cullen Bun is going back to the done-in-ones for Moon Knight.

This isn't new or classic, but I read the first 10 issues of Gillen's Uncanny X-Men run, and I'm not going to read anymore of it. *shivers* 1. Could the x-franchise have made it anymore obvious that they were pushing Cyclops? It was gross. 2. I don't care for Emma Frost. I have TRIED. I just cannot like that character. 3. As a Namor fan it's kind of insulting to see the character pushed into the background to the point that it's even noticeable in group shots where he's always half hidden behind another character or so far in the background that you cannot even make out his face details.

I think my favorite X-Men series of recent years was, to my surprise, Wolverine & the X-Men. I had skipped it because of too much Wolverine everywhere, but my boyfriend made me read it and it's actually... fun!

I had skipped it because of too much Wolverine everywhere, but my boyfriend made me read it and it's actually... fun! My husband read it and LOVED it (and he doesn't really read comics). I read some of it, but I got sidetracked by other reads and ran out of time. I think the run gets a lot of flack for being too goofy by people who forget that that is exactly what a LOT of comics are supposed to be. It's, like, no one has a fun spirit anymore. Everything has to be SERIOUS all the time. Sorry, but I don't read comics to be stressed out or anxious. I read them because they're fun.

I read most of Jason Aaron's run on Wolverine and the X-Men and I really enjoyed it for the most part. This is coming from someone who has pretty much been done with the X-Men for years. I've mentioned in other threads that a lot of my favorite X-Men stories were the ones where they are in a school environment, even if the students themselves are not necessarily the main focus, and this run definitely had that going for it. And having an X-Men book with a more lighthearted, humorous approach was a refreshing change of pace.

Agreed, and the current Spider-Man and the X-Men series does a much better job of capturing that spirit than W&tXM Vol 2 did.

I liked Wolverine and the X-Men as well... the Wolverine there was so different from before, and other portrayal, he might as well have been someone else...and I'm a big fan of both Quentin Quire and Idie (I was the one person that liked Generation Hope). In fact, I'd say the 1st WatX book got me to say with the X-Books for a couple years longer than I would have otherwise.

Gillen's run is NOT new-reader-friendly either. For someone who hasn't read a TON of X-Men (other than the NOW! stuff) beyond Claremont, it's not a good jumping on point. If a new reader were to jump on at this point, they'd be smacked, hard, in the face by Cyclops and a scantily dressed Emma Frost. They'd think all that Magneto does is just somehow land in a squatting position in random places (because he's done that about every single issue for the past 10 issues, and that's about it), Danger saves the day in about every issue, Greg Land's women alllll look exactly the same, Namor's strength can keep Emma Frost from bleeding to death (such a shame), and Hope is somehow magical (and funny).

Batman '66- 1st tradebook collecting issues #1-5
Now I recall how excited I was when the TV show debuted and after a year how bored I was with the show and how the comicbook now sucked because it replicated what the show was doing. Nice enough for the little kiddies but not for me. Ty Templeton's art was very good for the one issue he contributed
