A correction in my last post. I meant Heroes RETURN, not *shudder* Heroes Reborn. Phew! I was worried for a second there.

Heh! I just deleted a petulant rant that was far too fanboyish to deserve being read. I think everyone is allowed one per linewide reboot.

I really hate the 8 month jump-forward they're doing. This is just an excuse to let the writers change whatever they want while still getting to say: "It's not a reboot - all the old history still stands!". Seriously? Like what DC did 6-7 or so years back? So every idea Marvel has is copying a DC marketing stunt? I get the new # 1s, but, geez, DC's two years later thing didn't even work that well, did it? Like I remember reading that it drove away a lot of fans. A little over 9 years ago now. According to Diamond, the One Year Later debut month was the biggest jump in DC's sales (since the current sales figures charts started in 2003) until the New52 came along.

I didn't know that... but didn't sales basically tank from that point forward?
I believe last month was the first time that DC sales fell to pre-new-52 levels, so that has to be seen as a highly successful stunt.
As I remember, though, One Year Later was the exact opposite, with sales falling hard and fast almost immediately, and dropping below One Year Later levels realllllly quickly.
Note that I don't actually have a problem with any of this. Why WOULDN'T Marvel copy DC's super successful stunt. It's just strange to see them copying DC's failures as well.
(I just hope they don't cancel Squirrel Girl.)

I was definitely wrong about that. Wow. And I assume they've been trending downward since 2012?

Yeah, I disliked those comics so much, that I deleted all the Heroes Reborn Liefeld issues from the Marvel DVD ROM's when I first got them. (I can tolerate his New Mutants stuff to a point...but when he inks his own work...yuck.)

Wow, I didn't realize April was such a good month sales wise. Sad, though, that it probably means we've seen the last of $2.99 comics from Marvel and DC.

In the latest interview with Axel Alonso at CBR, he basically confirmed that going forward Marvel will be publishing under an approach modeled after TV seasons. So this means every series will get restarted at #1 every year or two.

I really would like to see them do something like Dark Horse and IDW's legacy numbering if they do that, and stop with the 'anniversary' nonsense. Of course, the Deadpool anniversary issue sold like crazy, so that's unlikely.

Well the first domino fell, Bendis revealed his new Marvel project at Special Edition New York con this weekend, an all new Invincible Iron Man with David Marquez on art.... CBR storyseems to be building from Gillen's revelations rather than anything in Superior, but I haven't been following Iron Man for a while now so not certain. -M
