I just read earlier they are doing Marvel Now this fall again!!! It's pretty obvious by now that Marvel has adopted a seasonal approach to their publishing plan, and each new season gets a promotional buzz title. Stronger series get new #1's and keep going or switch up creative teams. Weaker series/secondary characters get a season in the limelight to see if they catch an audience. If they do, they get "renewed" for a second season in the next wave. The storyline gets wrapped up in the season, and maybe sets up cues for the next season, but the seasons stand on their own, get collected into 2-3 trades (or a single deluxe hc) and the next season ramps up and can stand on its own (but might take some of its cues from the previous season). Ongoing is a relative term now, meaning it will likely still be there in the next season, but with a new #1. Not everyone likes it, it appeals more to readers than collectors because there is no continuity to numbering (or in general), and I think it will have diminishing returns, but right now it's a plan the has them continuing to dominate marketshare in the direct market, and that seems to be the only yardstick being used at the moment to measure success in big 2 comics publishing. Until such a time as Marvel loses the marketshare battle for an extended period (not a blip month where some special project shifts numbers)or until something other than marketshare dominance is used to gauge the success of the publishing line, don't expect things to change. Those on top in the current status quo have no incentive to change the status quo. -M

Having just seen Captain America #1, the sooner they scrap this series and get to a new #1 the better!

At this point, I feel every year they should start at #1.
Avengers #1 2016 Avengers #1 2017.
Just place the year so we can tell the difference. I mean, they keep doing 6 issue arcs for the Trades anyway.

If I weren't already 99% done with Marvel, I think this would do it.

More likely you found the issue you were looking for and it's glorious cover, trekked home to read it and found the Dreaded Deadline Doom had struck and it was a reprint and you had to wait a month for the actual last part of the story, and when you got it, it was done by a totally different creative team because the editor-in-chief had again changed and shuffled all the creative teams around to get the books he wanted to do. Ah, the good ole days of Marvel Then... -M
