Jason Aarons involvement has me interested in Doc Strange, the Avengers and A-Force look good, and am yet to decide on Spidey and Capt. Marvel. I dislike the art of Kris Anka(Capt. Marvel) but Im intrigued by the developments in Spidey.

Spider-Man with Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli So, is this a replacement title for Amazing Spider-Man? Is that series ending?

Squirrel Girl is definitely relaunching with a new # 1. ("Our second # 1 within a year" is the tagline.)
So all is right with the world.

I saw a bit amidst all the SDCC news that the new strange book will be released the first week of Oct (10/7?) which may be the next time I set foot in a comic shop.

October solicits are out... looks like a good % of those new #1 are after October... only a few of them are on there.... maybe 10? 15 at most. The timing of the Secret Wars stuff is very odd... some of the minis are already getting trades while others aren't done yet. 3 Epics coming out: Moon Knight vol. 2 (awesome!), Silver Surfer vol. 3 (early 80s stuff), and another Star Wars one. Also, Champions in a MMW, which is amazing ,but for $100 I'll have to wait for it to go on clearance at Newbury COmics or something ... oh, and Claremont Omnibus Vol. 3, as well as Daredevil MMW Vol. 10.. seems like ALOT of classic stuff! Strange on the heels of a reboot. Chewey is the new Star Wars mini (After Lando)... should be interesting. I wonder if they'll give him dialogue.

Could be a return for the thought balloon - otherwise the dialogue is going to be a lot of "rrrrrRRRRAaaaauuughgh?" and "huuurggghhhhgh!"

IRT the bolded part, you should probably be able to assemble a Champions run in floppies for far less than that. Outside of #1 and maybe #17 (which I bought because it was the last one I needed and was impatient), I don't think I paid more than $1.50 for any issue, with most being $1 or less.

The modern equivalent of the thought balloon in comics is the narrative caption. Cation boxes use character thoughts to narrate the stories or provide insight from the character's POV. I could see a story being done that way with the dialogue balloons for Chewie (or R2D2 even) being the typical growls (or beeps). -M

I've sure you can, the price kinda boggled my mind. Newbury generally sells the ones they have for $19.99 (I suspect they happily accept display copies and just sell them), so I'm hoping to catch it right. Their stock has been dwindling, though, so it may be the distributors caught on and they aren't getting freebies any more.

I don't know, the Masterworks usually reprint 10 issues, if they are doing the entire Champions series, it is 17 issues, almost double the content, so double the price is not likely a misprint. They might even include the SVTU issue that ties into #16 making it 18 issues and add Avengers 163 and the Iron Man annual featuring the Champions to make it an even 20 issues.

I'm glad to hear there's a Doctor Strange series even though I don't like what I've seen of Aaron's work. But one of the good (and bad) things about comics is that it isn't likely any particular creative team will be on a book for more than a year or two, so if the series lasts there's always a chance someone more in line with my way of thinking will eventually be assigned to it.
